Most "clean" texture packs I see end up looking ugly to me; I don't really know why, it's just something about the colors. And since my favorite texture pack, Nurio's SplotchBlock hasn't been updated for the dye patch, I decided to make my own. Since I have no real spriting skills, I went for something simple, and got great results! And so I present you with... BILLYCRAFT!
Most blocks use no more than one color, creating a smooth, wonderful look. Here are some examples:
Here you can see brick, glass, and torches.
Here is stone and cobblestone (cobblestone is darker).
Planks and glass, plus a close up look at grass.
Doors and glass.
Gravel, obsidian, and sand.
The full texture pack (note that this is now outdated)
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download the file, of course.
2) Find where you saved it, and copy it (left click then CTRL C).
3) Start up Minecraft, go into the mods and texture packs section, and open the texture pack file.
4) Paste into the file (CTRL V).
5) Voila! BillyCraft is installed and ready to go!
Changelog:
2/17/2011: Fixed grass blocks so that there is grass on the side. Added mobs!
2/18/2011: Added GUI, fixed furnaces and sandstone, darkened the outline of chests.
2/22/2011: Updated for 1.3. Some issues may still remain, as only terrain and items have been updated.
2/25/2011: Some general fixes; lit furnaces look right now, the outline of chests has been properly darkened, etc.
3/1/2011: Added paintings, and a few minor tweaks.
3/30/2011: Updated for 1.4. Filedropper seemed to cut out after I set up the download link, so it may not be working.
4/19/2011: Updated for 1.5 (I think!)
5/10/2011: Fixed sidegrass.
While all textures are complete, there are probably still some issues, so if you find anything please tell me! Also, there is currently no water or lava texture, as I don't know how to make it actually show up. If anyone knows how, please tell me!
If anyone has an idea for a better name, PLEASE tell me! BillyCraft is only a placeholder name.
The sample image and description are currently not working. If anyone knows how to make them work, please tell me!
Can you make the cobblestone, stone, and sand have a little texture? Other than that it's great. I just prefer my caves alittle bit more interesting.
I think I'll try something of that sort. It does get a bit much in caves.
Okay. I thought about this, and decided against it for two reasons: One, I am not a very good spriter, and I can't think of a feasible way for me to do this. Two, it clashes with the whole point of the texture pack, which nulls everything.
For your information, I've started working on Douxcraft in the middle of December 2010.
And I don't really like the color you used for dirt, and the grass is too dark.
Wow, quite a bit of hostility... or at least I think there is. It's hard to tell. I never intended to imply that you had copied me, or vise versa; but I did want to know who started first.
If you wish to go there, might I say that your gravel, to me, looks mind-searingly ugly with its randomness?
The paintings? Of course. I think I might offer two versions; one with custom, and one with a simplified version of the existing ones. And maybe even one pack that doesn't have paintings.

Woops! Sorry for the late reply, but thanks!
Updated the texture pack (the actual picture is still outdated, though).

You can't take monopoly on an idea, so shut the **** up.
Nobody stole your texture pack. Stop bitching.
Aww, Well hope the new texture pack turn out well, I like this one.
It's likely I'll still update it for new blocks, but not much else will be done.
