This is a suggestion for a texture pack, and a relativly simple one I think.
Like the title, it would change your Minecraft world into a giant lab experiment. Rock would be plastic walls, cobble would be smashed plastic that needs to be melted back into plastic. Grass and dirt would be 2 different carpets, and trees would be test tubes with gas coming out the top. But now you're thinking, "If our wood are test tubes, then what'll our wood items be?". Simple, the planks would be smashed glass, and sticks would be glass shards. Workbenches would be lab tables... I know, I couldn't think of any glass-type thing. So now you're asking, "If wood is glass, then what is glass?". Glass would be explosive-resistent, bulletproof plexiglass.
Ores would be:
Iron would become aluminum.
Coal would become uranium ore, which you would use for your atomic torches.
Gold would be stronger copper, able to withstand a drill beating it and would need to be burned.
Redstone would become weak copper, one that shatters into copper wires as soon as it is drilled.
Diamond would become a special experimental alloy, something I'm calling notchinium. It would be a green-yellow ore.
Bedrock would be safes, because the scientists tried to hide all their secrets where no-one would find them.
MOBS:
Zombies would be infected scientists, so yeah, zombies in lab coats.
Skeletons would be the skeletons of security guards that had all their flesh eaten by an infected scientist. They would still wear scraps of their uniforms and still use their trusty H&K MP5, and occaisially drop ammunition for it.
Creepers would be a failed attempt at a pig capable of producing more pork, but instead they carry a biological explosive and drop meat saturated with the explosive.
Spiders would be just that, spiders, mutated into giant spiders.
Slimes would be brains of famous people in jars that are now hopping around outside their old storage containers.\
Ghasts would be condemned brains in jars that shoot part of their explosive gell at you.
Z-Pigmen would be pigmen experiments that succeded, but had to be hidden away becuase of government funding cuts.
These are all my ideas right now... I would REALLY apprieciate if people post their own ideas.
