Yes. I'm working on an alternate art set, something decorative like curtains and clocks and stuff. I'll be posting that shortly. After that, just more alts and I might do some other fun stuff I've been tossing around. If things slow down too much I'll do another contest or something fun to keep your spirits high :smile.gif:
andre are you dead ? there are no news for a while now...
Yes. I am dead. I am speaking to you from beyond the grave. It's just taken me a while because here in limbo we only have dialup, and my roommate is downloading torrents, so the site took 4 days to load.
But seriously, I'm just taking it easy for now til the next update. I worked pretty hard to get the customizer done (not to mention my own failed attempt). But I'll have some new stuff soonish. Stay tuned buddy :smile.gif:.
It seems like you missed my last post so I'll try to get an answer this time instead!
See I am working on a new texture pack (no name yet) and water is really the only thing I can't figure out how to make.
So I'm asking you if I can borrow your water texture and custom animation?
See it really fits the over all look of the pack and I have just tweaked the color of it a little bit, I will make sure to credit you as much as I possibly can :smile.gif:
Yup, you can use it if you give credit (preferably by adding the jolicraft logo from my sigs). My water is nothing special though, I'm not totally happy with it and I'll probably redo it (and the lava) someday.
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem before (Not gonna look through 92 pages of posts), but Minecraft keeps crashing when I use a customized pack.
The normal pack works fine though. Guess I'll just switch textures around manually.
Do you use any mods andre, or do you prefer to play normally?
No not really. I used to, when I first started playing ages ago, but I got sick of having to update them and deal with their glitchyness. I'm a huge fan of the vanilla game, but to be honest I'm pretty much biding my time until the game is 'fnished' to take it seriously. I expect that when i can safely start modding and building my world without updates making me redo stuff, I'll get more into mods.
Adding support for some popular mods is on my todo list.
One word in advance. I don't mean to offend you in any way, nor do I want to say anything bad about your wonderful texture pack. Hope the following won't sound disregardful, as it is not intended to be so.
All in all I'm very impressed. Really one of the greatest looking texturepacks, I found...
If only there was not one single little detail that won't let me enjoy it. Please give the spiders EIGHT eyes, as most existing spider species have. Sure this is not an absolute rule. There are some species with only six eyes. Even some cave dwelling ones with no eyes at all. But I don't know of any species having only two eyes.
I don't claim to know all the species out there. This would be fairly impossible, as spiders belong to the most species rich groups of animals. Only little behind the biggest one, the insects. However I am arachnologist. I study spiders and I dearly adore those creepy eight legged beasts. Sure most people wont share this love with me and I know it might sound a little pedantic to blame such a great texture pack on such a tiny detail. But the way i feel for spiders and because most people find them disgusting and don't even give them credit for their potential to rid us from other annoying bugs, I often feel urged to defend my little friends. Knowing that most people are not able to see the beautiful richnes in colors and morphology of many many species I really can't help but trying to get people to at least once risk a closer look and to show them what beauty the have not seen until they put aside their fear and disgust just for once.
Guess I slightly left the main reason of my post. I just felt that it needed further explanation, about why I'm so moved by a tiny detail...
To get back on topic: I realy like your textures. And I where very happy if you took my wish in account, should you still be working on these textures. If you like and if I find the time, I could risk a try on a spider texture for your pack, myself. I have some capability in drawing and a little bit experience in making textures. I could make the texture look like the spider family of your joice and help you find the most fitting one in terms of behaviour and ecology. Of course I can't assure that my creation would match your great artistic work. Nor would I risk to claim that I could do any of the textures better than you. Only, I probably have seen more spiders up close. Hell, I've even opened them up, to study them from the inside :tongue.gif:
So let me know what you think. Hope I dind't offend you with my post...
(and what do you do with minecraft spiders ? do u kill em ? i mean is the only way)
Well... In minecraft it's about life and death. If I don't defend myself the spider will eat me. So I will fight back and kill the spider. Same as every spiders prey, capable of defending itselves, does in nature. Therefore I have no hard feelings about that. I.E. one of the spiders I keept in a terrarium was killed by a cricket, shortly before the poor beast was going to lay her eggs :sad.gif:
Also I find killing spiders for their string is acceptable, as the spiders don't die for nothing. Just so you know. Studying the morphology or determining their species as needed for most ecological studies is done with dead spiders, preserved in alcohol. There is no chance to examine a living spider in the way needed to find out what species it belongs to. To small details that have to be observed. Some species differ only if you look at their insides, even... Mainly only for behavioral studies living spiders are used. So probably I already killed more of them than any arachnophobic person, who squashes every spider on sight :tongue.gif:
Well you sound like yo uare proud of you're work :wink.gif: I like spiders ( exept huge ones that can kill u eg. Tarantula. one nearly bit me once i na museum) ;P
Just for our information. Most of the large tarantulas have a more or less weak poison. To a human the bite is often not worse than being stung by a wasp. There are only a few exceptions that can be dangerous to us.
And yes, I'm proud of my work. It's what I reallly like going :smile.gif:
Yay! You should make some alts and get yours on the site, I'm sure your users would love u for it :smile.gif:

Also, dammit, I was going to make eyeballs for ghasts for my pack, but I wouldn't be able to do something that wouldn't look similar =/
This is totally true because you just made it....
I don't know I can't even explain it.

Click the 'Use full editor' button while editing.
Yeah, doesn't that suck.
edit the first post. Find the button that says something like "full editor." The editing the title becomes an option.
Think we fixed it- try it again. If not you can try downloading it in Google Chrome, where it should work.
