This shows that this needs to happen. Packs should all have a resemblance, because if somebody makes something pretty, you should be able to enjoy it, and not say "eww my pack makes it look ugly" or "one sec gotta change packs...again"
I disagree. If authors are 'expected' to create textures that harken back to default, then the author's creativity is hindered.
Is the download mirrored anywhere? For some reason this is the only mediafire download that just won't start for me.
I'm having the same problem here, mediafire is giving me problems with this download.
For what its worth I just tried it again and it worked. Give it another shot, but it would be nice to have more download options.
Thanks, but I'm still having problems, safari is telling me "You do not have permission to access the requested resource" and chrome is saying that "Access to the webpage was denied".

i feel that same way about the original zombies with ties, thankfully he kept them as an alt.
Jeez guys. It's like I'm watching people chip away at the uniqueness of this pack one block/feature at a time. If you prefer compatibility with the default texture, why not use the default... or just drop in standard textures as needed?
I'll just throw out that I love how everything in this pack seems so cohesive. It seems to create a more unified and well thought out look than other packs I've seen. It's the little details like the gui, particles, crosshairs, and color selections that really tie it together and make it so charming. Some blocks, like the "pumpkin" block, integrate into structures better than ever because of the bold design decisions made by andre.
I know everyone has particular needs that are valid for their uses, but I just wanted to cast my vote that I hope the future design-direction is to stay true to its own look instead of compatibility with defaults... to stay unique instead of regressing to the mean.

False. this is true for standalone art, but this is for a multiplayer game that is meant to be a pack to view the game. As multiple people play, they should see the same thing in different styles, not completely different things. this makes the quality of the GAME go down, even if the ART is superb. (which it is)
Quick suggestion. If you could provide a lapis block like you have the checkered looking gold/diamond/iron blocks for lapis, it would be great. I have all my diamond/gold/iron blocks set to the checkered alts and it's driving me crazy not to have it for lapis :tongue.gif:
I love your pack, except I HATE that the furnace looks like a furnace. I use furnaces for my walls, can you change the furnace so it looks like wallpaper? Also I use pumpkins as bookshelves, workbenches as roads, and diamond blocks as trees, so please change those. Also, please add more sidegrass and redo the gui and change pretty much everything back to the way it was before Jolicraft so I can go complain to notch instead of you.
Good point. I will remove all my textures & hud elements in the next update. As an added bonus it'll be 0kb, so a nice quick download!

More or less... there is a whitelist but if you're interested I could easily vouch for you. Speaking of which...
Wow. Just wow. Too cool.

I would disagree with all of your points but this is all subjective. I love the style Jolicraft has given Minecraft with this texture pack. Keep up the awesome work Jolicoeur!!!
Thanks! And yeah, this sort of thing is so subjective. One man's trash is another's treasure as they say. I love receiving feedback, good or bad, and I don't agree with it all - Which is why it's great to be in charge, I can just ignore the stuff that doesn't suit me.

Oh man, custom art and items. Best 16p pack I've ever seen and you continue to improve and update, thank you so much. Is the download mirrored anywhere? For some reason this is the only mediafire download that just won't start for me.
I really like this pack, but I don't use it because I don't like the crosshair and the stone. Can I change those manually?
Sure, you can edit terrain.png to change the stone and icons.png to change the crosshair. If a pack has a crosshair that you like, just use the icons.png from that pack instead.

workbench: only texturepack with tools on top. ruins many patterns on smp where the top is used as a decoration. just to consider.
Workbenches shouldn't be used as flooring. They're workbenches! I'm all for folks being creative with their constructions and coming up with unconventional ways of using objects, but with Jolicraft you'll just have to think of something else to make your floors out of. I'm messy and I don't put away my tools, deal with it people!

I crafted some paintings to decorate my Minecraft home, and I have to say that the 16p doesn't give justice to your art, Andre. Especially the little ones.
I love the color of the nature with that pack. The grass is perfect. But, after hours of play, I still don't really like the stone texture. The color is good but not the texture itself in my opinion. Same about sandstone.
But I know 16p is not easy.
Yeah some of those paintings didn't translate well to the small size. I did my best to almost redo each of them so they made sense at 16x16, but there's a few that stand out as almost too vague. I may redo a few at some point. And I may also rethink the smoothstone, we'll see.

Yeah that's what I do, I use the top of TNT for the top of my workbenches. I also take the top of the new sandstone and use it as my side, since the new one makes my Outpost house look like crap. lol... but I also like it more the old one, because it looks more natural, minus the new side of course (for building purposes).
See, here's a man who solves his own problems. Take a lesson people.
And yeah, sadly the new sandstone doesn't look nearly as good as a building material, but I had to come up with something that felt natural because it's now a naturally occurring material. Even when I was playing around with ideas and I used the same top texture for all sides, it didn't look natural when you saw it sitting there at the bottom of a pile of sand. For me, I think leaning towards the natural aesthetic was more important, but I may tweak it yet and make it a little more middle ground for the builders out there. Stay tuned.

Jolicoeur, quick question: are you planning on adding a custom lily pad for WildGrass support?
I totally didn't realize wildgrass had lily pads! God I'm such a noob. Expect a lily pad texture with the next update.

Jolli, does the update mean we have to send in new pictures?
Yes, start over. And if I update again, you'll have to start over again.
Just kidding, any ol version of Jolicraft will do.

Nope. If you want to use workbenches as flooring then you've got to deal with floors that look like workbenches. If I was putting tools on the wool or something weird then I'd understand. But they're workbenches! Why can't I make them look like workbenches? Wait... I can!

crosshair: very hard to play with, and the #1 complaint all around. Bad. bad bad bad. Artsy, but bad.
I agree with this..maybe a smaller circle??
Nope my number1 complaint is the sidegrass. Followed by the color of the smoothstone. Then the workbenches. Then the sandstone. Then maybe the crosshair.

I just removed the ties because I didn't think it worked with the rest of the theme. I mean, why is my character wearing travel worn ranger garments in a world where people wear shirts & ties? I just felt like the tie zombies were from a different century.

Thanks man. And don't worry, I've said before that I only sell out for money, and there's no money to be found anywhere near this forum. My pack will always be made to suit my own tastes. Jolicraft is and always has been a dictatorship, not a democracy :wink.gif:
EDIT: Sorry I called you 'man'!
Good lord people!! I completely agree with aftermarketgirl!! You guys complain about everything whether it be sandstone or grass,.. Andre created an awesome,.. amazing pack,.. Cuz in all honesty, the others look like someone threw up all over them except for a few,.. Andre Ive said it before,.. and ill say it again,.. Your pack truly is amazing!! I love everything about it!! Even the workbenches,.. Lol but dont change everything up just cuz people bug you about it,.. Its your pack do what you want with it,... :biggrin.gif:
I noticed one little thing about the new paintings, (which I absolutely love, by the way) there is no back/sides! If you check the kz.png, you notice that the top right corners which represent the sides and backs of the paintings (I think) is alpha'd out.

Yeah I couldn't come up with a back/side that worked with all my frames. But I was playing around with it today actually and I found that the wood plank texture worked well. Probably because I build almost all my walls out of wood. I'll give it some more tests and if I can come up with something that works in a variety of situations I'll add it.
