This cannot be helped, unfortunately, with the new way Minecraft loads the color on redstone. Even if you make it completely white in the texture, it will still turn pure red when the wires are on, and pure black when off.
Of course, I'm only one user of the pack, and no one else seems to be bothered by the Redstone not showing up very well, so perhaps I'll just stick with editing the image myself and let him continue on his merry way =)
Either way, I still love the pack, and it is a permanent part of my texture rotation. =)

Come on guys, we're getting off-topic, this is a thread about kicking men in the testicles.

You'll be surprised by how few people actually put a bathroom in their house. Where else would you ****? Where else?
So I know this makes me sound really nubish,.. But can someone please help me figure out how to rename the terrain and foilage files,.. I wanna play with andre's biomes but I cant figure out how to change the file names from alt.png to just .png,.. If anyone could help,.. Id much appricate it,.. Oh and how to get the items from 1.8 to the 1.9 folder,.. That too,..
Ive never been good at computers,.. Just double clicking,.. Anyways thanks,.. :biggrin.gif:

Visibility could be improved, but it would severely detract from aesthetics. Many texture pack authors have been changing their redwire to be as flimsy as possible, because a big solid black blotch is not a good look for a texture.
· I had hoped that 2.0 would be a more memorable update, but I'm afraid this time all I have is tweaks & fixes. Good tweaks & fixes, mind you, but nothing world-changing. I guess I'll have to save that for 3.0 huh.
· Changed sandstone block texture (to look better as a naturally occuring material)
· Changed gold, diamond, & iron blocks (with 2 alts)
· Changed ores a bit (they're done, love it or shove it)
· Added custom hand-painted custom pumpkinblur
· Added new custom biomes (much more subtle, and if you choose not to use them it doesn't break the pack)
· Put icons back in (don't know why they weren't in 1.9. I think the icon fairy took them away)
· Many other small tweaks.
And if you're curious, here's the painted texture I used to create the interface background (inventory, chest, etc), and the custom pumpkinblur:
It's made with black acrylic paint on paper primed with matte medium (and my very favorite old grungy paintbrush). Actually lots of the textures in Jolicraft have elements from my painted texture library. It's easy to grab painted textures and shrink them down to 16x16, and it adds a painterly element to any texture they're applied to. There's a good tip of any of you aspiring pixel artists out there - there's a world of great content for you to use/reuse that can't be found on Google images.
Enjoy 2.0 folks. Again, let me know if there are any issues

I've just updated the biomes, all you have to do is use the MCPatcher that I've linked in my instructions and they will work. Enjoy!

My only issue with it, is the redstone. Powered redstone is very difficult to see, unless you look directly at it from fairly close.
instead of white-ish, like the default. Could be because of the ridiculous way Minecraft loads color for redstone. Just wanted to point that out, because I use redstone a lot and want to be able to see it =)
I HATE how the devs have decided "hey, we'll just make the redstone hue work this way because it works with our particular redstone texture". I understand why they did it (to make the gradient ramp of the colour of the redstone wire as it gets further away from the source), but I think there has to be a better way, a way that will let us content creators to work within the limits.
However, they have decided that all redstone will behave the same way, so I'm stuck with trying to create a unique way of handling the redstone wires that isn't a pure red/black splotchy line. So that's why I came up with the black-wire-with-red-lights method. And I do like the result, even though it's not nearly as sexy as my old redstone wire texutre, it still achieves the same goal. I wanted the wire to be insignificant, the main indicator for redstone wire is the little red "lights" that show up at specific intervals. And they glow red as they're receiving power, and they are black when not, and little red smoke puffs come directly out of the lights. I don't know how they could be unclear. I use lots of redstone wire and I have no problem seeing exactly how far my power source is travelling down the lines. In fact, I think the little lights make it easier because I can actually count my way down the chain. If I know how many blocks a charge will travel, I can just make sure that there are that many lights along the path. For me at least, it's easier to count obvious individual lights rather than seamless blocks.
/endrant
Maybe I'll include alternate redstone wires when I decide to do alternate texture pack downloads.

I love the pack, never thought 16p could look so good.
EDIT: Oh, and regarding the pumpkin texture: WILSOOOOOOOOON!
Many thanks. And I did change the ores for 2.0, but only a tad. I'm pretty happy with them now so unless I have a brainfart that produces some awesome original ores, you're stuck with these. And Wilson is awesome! He's my toughest critic. He's sitting beside me right now on the couch beside my desk. Silently judging me, as usual.

Haha - I found it as soon as I posted that. It was one of those "right in front of my face" moments.
Thanks though.
I had one of those today when I saw the "where did the items go" comments. Curse our human imperfections!

Thank you for making this texture pack, it makes Minecraft so much more beautiful and enjoyable.
Then my mission has been accomplished. I can rest in peace.

Hey, I'll make a new video once my server is all updated and what now. Just wanted to say hey!
Nice, can't wait. I love showing off your videos. And I love [even more] that someone is making awesome videos with great cinematography and music choices so I don't have to!

This is, without question or debate, the best 16p texture pack out there - and in my opinion the best overall!
It's subtle charm suits the world and feels just right - almost perfect.
My only gripe is the blocks of different metal (gold, diamond etc.).
I personally think that the large circle just doesn't feel as manly compared to a full square of solid gold, especially when creating a castle made of gold or similar.
Other than that though, nice one - keep up the great work!
Doesn't feel as MANLY? Circles are the most manly concept in the universe! They're the basics for all physics. Gravity obeys the laws of the circle, entire galaxys are governed by circular mathematics. What's more manly than governing the movements of the stars themselves!
That said, I did change the textures in question. Enjoy!

I have always loved "JoliCraft" I am very pleased you updated. What is the music in the video"Quick look at JoliCraft" from?
I took a tour of your Gallery Online, I love your style. I do some painting, but I mostly do Papier Mache. Keep up the great work.
Many thanks! And I'm not sure who made that music, I didn't make the video. Check page 3 for the details on that one.

ok i have an honest question, what would happen if you took the terrain.png and just started using random colors and making slashes all over the place?
nevermind i found out lol, blue rock and red dirt = wierd
That's all I did to make Jolicraft. Just fired up photoshop and started randomly mixing colours and brushing them randomly across terrain.png. Somehow it ended up like it did. Lucky me I guess.
I just registered an account to this forum to say how I love this texture pack !
It's the best pack I ever used so far. This pack really have something special. It puts a very nice atmosphere to the game. More than most other packs, this one one has a very strong and catching personality.
Simply love this texture pack! It brings a whole new level of life to the game that makes it feel as if you (the player) is watching a lone adventurer as he goes about his life in a dusty old storybook. A truly exceptional piece.
My only complaint would be that the smoothstone and cobblestone look too much like sand.
This is amazing! I really hope to give this a go soon, however I can't use mediafire.
Would you consider putting the pack on planetminecraft.com or mcxc.net? Or even using a dropbox file? It would mean I'd be able to download the pack, something I really want to do :smile.gif: .
My point was not that it cannot be helped (in terms of visibility/differentiating between states. it can be, actually; if the texture is updated by André), but that the current Redstone texture in the pack only displays a change of four pixels when it converts from On to Off, or from Off to On.
Going from completely black to red-fading-to-orange, and back again, is fine in my opinion. But going from completely black to black with a teensy-bit-of-red-that-cannot-be-seen-after-a-certain-distance (as Jolicraft does).... eh, not so much. All I'm saying is, André should probably turn his Redstone image to white-scale, or at least edit some of the black portion of the texture, as opposed to the picture I posted, so that Redstone displays more visibly in-game.
Of course, I'm only one user of the pack, and no one else seems to be bothered by the Redstone not showing up very well, so perhaps I'll just stick with editing the image myself and let him continue on his merry way =)

Except i think that the cobblestone is more supposed to be a pile of rocks because you broke the smooth stone
not all crafted first
Besides that its cool so i give you 4 creepers out of 5

When i Press f3 all animals that i see have a number line above their head like
1067236
could you explain why?
Other then that im good
Plz click them.... or not
That's not from the texture pack. That's a new feature of 1.3, it identifies spawned mobs unique IDs for debugging purposes.
Love the brick texture.
My only complaint would be that the smoothstone and cobblestone look too much like sand.
