The next MCPatcher release will have some changes that texture pack authors need to know about.
For texture packs with custom animations: Existing custom animations will not change, but as an experimental feature, you can now make any tile in terrain.png or items.png animated. Create an image called custom_terrain_###.png or custom_item_###.png in the root of your pack. ### is the index (0-255) of the tile in terrain.png or items.png. It is not the block ID or item ID. The format of the image is the same as the other custom_*.png images: A vertical strip of frames the same size as the texture pack. Transparency will work only if it works in the original tile.
Texture pack authors can go ahead and create the new files, and the current patcher will ignore them. In the meantime, I will finish up some final details and release a new version of MCPatcher soon.
DUDE! Andre, you should totally do this. Your pack will have so much more depth and feel with custom animations.

Wow, that's... embarrassing. I play Minecraft on the PC side, but do Photoshop stuff on the Mac side. Totally spaced out downloading the texture pack when I grabbed Mac Minecraft for a "quick background". Well, I got some Jolicraft characters in there at least. Man...

As far as animated stuff goes. Man. I'm excited about leaves and grass blowing in the wind. If only there was a way to stagger it, so it looked like the wind advanced along.

Now now, that's not a sportsmanlike response. I liked Jamiealexw's entry, but I don't think this is a copy that at all. Yes, they both contain an enderman picking up a house, but Oilyfish's entry was so much more than just that. It's an entire scene that tells a story, the enderman picking up the house to see what's inside, and the dude standing in his house without walls all like "uh, wtf enderman". It's the interaction between the characters that creates the humor. In fact, I think I'll toss in an extra print for Oilyfish to compensate him for the trauma you've inflicted!
I just dropped in to say how much I love Jolicraft. I remember looking at so many screenshots from other people's games and seeing their "grim and gritty" texture packs and thought "I wish someone would make a FUN pack."
Then I found Jolicraft. I can't go back to Default now... Jolicraft IS default to me!
(Seriously. I forgot that Creepers were meant to have leafy texture...)

I had the idea before then. I wasn't going to back down from a good idea just because someone came up with something similar.Honestly, André saw both of our screenshots and if he felt I copied then he wouldn't have chose me as a winner.

I'd send you a complementary print of my famous piece, 'White Painted Bricks". Although, once it's up you probably won't be able to tell it's there.
