This texture pack aims to improve Minecraft just a bit. I've fixed things I hear people hate on the forums and tried to make nice-looking ore without making it be a massive overhaul.
I have also learned that all you need for nice textures is some GIMP effects, a low-transparency brush to create transitions and not very much spriting skill. Items might prove tricky.
To-Do
- Dirt
- House Blocks (booksheleves, planks, workbenches etc.) [7%]
- Sand Things (sand:stone:) [30%]
- Cave Stuff
- Lovely Items
- Nicer Armour
- Gold armour makes you into an armed creeper (geddit? armed? hahaha)
- Mobs
Pictures
All I have done so far...
- Gold and iron ore take form as a sizable chunk in rock.
- Coal has now settled into nice strata, and diamonds are actually just one (or two) diamonds in the middle of stone. Aren't they crystalline?!
- Redstone looks just like dust, stuck in a rock! Yeah...
- Lapis lazuli is exactly what it drops - some lovely blue chunks.
- Glass now has no shiny effect (I never minded that, but apparently everybody hates it)
- Half-blocks have an ornate top and sides!
- Other complaints I've heard online is that default cobblestone is ugly. To fix this, I decided to make it into obviously artificial stone bricks. Thoughts on this?
- Obsidian is lava with the brightness turned waaay down.
- Netherrack! It looks hellish, doesn't it? Hellish... on the eyes!! Red and green are very garish together...
- Grass has its own custom texture! It's not very different, but at least it looks like I worked on it.
- Bedrock: the final frontier. It's just smoothstone with the contrast up - as usual...
- Ghasts are now horribly pissed... and their "eyes open" face is a new dimension of scary. Hit their snowfireballs back at them before they eat your soul!!
An amazing floating mountain... with some understandably impressed pumpkins nearby.
Definitely not officially released yet, but stay tuned.
Also, if I feel bored of normal texture editing, I will work on a mod even if the rest of the pack isn't done.
looks nice, will use when finished!!
EDIT:the cobble looks good IMO

minecraft is like life, you start by beating wood, explore a lot of new things, settle down a bit, finally get that diamond, and then you life starts to suck and you go through hell
I have added Wild Grass compatibility before I actually finished the pack.
Hopefully it will look good. I will post pictures when I get home from school.
I will also be releasing the terrain.png as a "beta" file. Everything that I haven't worked on will still be default textures, but you can use the unfinished version.
Looks good from what you've put up, but i think you should show a pictures of a few more materials in order to give a better feel of what it looks like

I'm not done the other materials yet, due to being a lazy *******.
I'm on it though, just don't expect custom fire/liquids/portals.

Also, Cave Story paintings! Now you can have epic wall-art, some scenes assembled by me, some are just ripped directly from the game.
If you're going to title them, the big one on the left is "Eatsyourface", then there's "Checkup", "Blast Door", "Hiding", and "Bonemeal".
Also, that really wide painting is now the Core! Check it out:
And here is the kz.png for your convenience:

Ah, builders. I had them in (the poll, that is), but then I realized that all the sprites involved were just player skins.
Solution: Go to Skindex, find 16 random (but nice) skins, and give credit. To be continued.

That's wonderful.
