What is the difference between 16x16, 32x32, and 64x64? Also, how do you know which you are using? I've been trying to make my first texture pack, and I'd like to make sure I'm not missing anything.

16x16 has 16 pixels 256 pixels in each block (16 * 16 to find the area) this is the only textures that are officially supported by minecraft
32x32 has 32 pixels across the top and 32 pixels down the side so in all 1024 pixels. With this pack you have twice as many pixels to use to make each texture (more HD or just smaller details) but you have to use xau's patcher to get it to animate correctly (bricks, gold blocks, water, lava, etc. These don't work without the patcher)
64x64 I bet you can guess what it is. You also need the patcher.
128x128 is even larger (YOU WILL NEED A GOOD COMPUTER TO RUN THIS) it has a 16384 pixels that renders 6 times (each side of the block) 98304 pixels for each block and imagen all the blocks there are. (it doesnt lag on my computer)
256x256 you can get very HD and is literally a lagfest and can't be run very well. This is the largest pack the patcher supports you can do 512x512 but minecraft will crash if you try to load anything but 16x16 without the patcher and the patcher doesnt support 512x

32x32 doesn't crash it, but it doesn't load properly either. A lot of blocks load with broken textures and a quarter of the image tends to have a fire in it. It's weird.

Just tested it only 64 and higher crash it your right :smile.gif:

Actually, 32x32 textures don't crash minecraft without the patcher, at least not for me. I think everything above that does cause a crash, though.
Just tested it only 64 and higher crash it your right :smile.gif:
