If it did, I would neither tell you nor be here to post this response, since I would be permanently banned. Plus it wouldn't have nearly a million downloads over the course of several years.
Thanks for the heads-up; I'll look into it once 1.8 is fully, officially released. I don't work on snapshots since they change so frequently. And because it gives me an excuse to be lazy by working less frequently.

The texture-based transparency still works on grass and fast (but not fancy) leaves, so I think the code that prevents x-ray textures doesn't work on solid blocks with colors that are defined by a color map. If there's some way to make Minecraft give other blocks colors based on the biome, you could use that to work around it, but I don't know if that's possible at all, or if it needs Optifine/MCPatcher to work.

What is the file that makes mossy cobblestone, cracked stone brick, and mossy stone brick blink? I design with these blocks a lot and it makes me go crazy with it blinking. I would like to make an edit of this resource pack that does not have the mossy cobblestone, cracked stone brick, and mossy stone brick blinking.
If you want, just resize their textures to be 32x32 or 16x16 or whatever even size you want, so that they're shaped like squares, rather than elongated rectangles. Oh, and delete the "mossy_cobblestone.txt," "cracked_stone_brick.txt," etc.
Whenever i use this, i cant see any ores, just the top block, like the stone, im not certain that you are supposed to, but if you are... HELP!! thanks Im using 1.6.4 and terra firma craft
Unfortunately, installing TFC manually is no longer working on my end. Do you know what happened to the old launcher, which automatically installed it for you? Bioxx took it down from the "downloads" page for some reason.
All versions of SC have been updated! Changes include,
Default MC changes:
Made the surface of water blocks more transparent in the main and F&MF versions of SC
TFC changes:
Added transparency for acacia planks, logs, log sides, log tops, leaves, leaves on fancy graphics, door tops and door bottoms
Added the first 3 letters of all 17 log names to their respective side textures, to be able to identify them without needing to break them with an axe or switching resource packs
Added the first 3 letters (or 5 in the case of pitchblende ore) of all 39 ore names to their respective texture, to be able to identify them without needing to mine them or switching resource packs
Left the casual version alone, aside from updating TFC snow tiles, adding all those acacia-related textures, making all 34 leaf blocks 2x more transparent and adding the first 3-5 letters of ore names to their respective textures
Made all 34 types of leaves 2x as transparent as they were before
Made all snow tiles, sea ice, 21 types of farmland, 21 types of sand and 22 types of soil transparent (again)
Made cat tails look significantly uglier, but also more transparent
Made the surface of water blocks more transparent
is there any way to make it work in the 1.8pre2?
I mostly use it in singleplayer to search for spots where both spawners spin in double blaze (and other double/tripple spawners)
also to look at redstone through walls
From the way everyone's been describing how resource packs work in 1.8, no, probably not. However, many of the pack's other features will continue to work, such as the sun/moon compasses, knowing what stage of growth all your crops are at, (Including in TFC), being able to wear pumpkins as helmets without the huge amount of clutter, being able to open your inventory without having to worry about a creeper walking up to you, (Since menus should still be transparent), and so on.
Once 1.8 is officially released, that's when I'll look into it. Since some blocks/items will absolutely *need* some degree of transparency to function properly, even when using the default textures, those are the ones that I'll focus on turning into x-ray based objects in the environment. I'll encourage users to carry such blocks around with them in order to place them freely, thus having portable items that turn the blocks behind them transparent.
I downloaded this for TFC-0.77.22 (MC 1.6.2) to see ores, but it make invisible ores too and doesn't make invisible some dirt and rocks (e.g. Diorite).
the x ray part of this pack will disappear forever if this pack updates to 1.8, because the game forces stuff like grass, dirt, stone, etc, to render opaque

What's wrong?
and your point? i use 1.6.4, instead of 1.7/1.8
