Since this has only taken effect after the 1.5 update, it's safe to assume that one of the things Jeb/Dinnerbone/whoever did during yet another engine rewrite/lighting optimization/whatever was make the game much, much laggier when there are more transparent blocks on the player's screen, like glass and ice. Since strongestcraft is almost entirely made up of transparent blocks, things get laggy. This being the case, the only options are to wait and see if the devs fix that lag or if people who work on mods like optifine fix it.

thx for answering
in the mean time impossible to mine stuff because can not counter ninja creeper
I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with creepers. If you're playing in single player or a multiplayer server that lets people use such things, I recommend using zombe's modpack to make it harder for them to sneak up on you.
I might, in my own time. But I really don't think that changing 3/4ths of a pixel to 1/2 of a pixel or 1.0 pixel will make any difference at all. And this is coming from someone who, in 2013, still uses windows XP, and not long ago, whose computer only had 1gb of RAM.
I could've sworn they were all added automatically, 100% solid and appearing as naturally as they should in the 1.5 update. I'll look into it within the next 16 hours.
Edit: They're definitely there. After about 5-10 minutes of searching, I was starting to think something was wrong, but suddenly, there they were.
My problem was that I was too close to spawn - that might be the same thing affecting why you aren't finding any. Also, that screenshot was taken while a potion of night vision was in use.
In the next update, I'll make those ores easier to see, and I'll make it apparent that players are wearing helmets, too. On, and another note to self: delete all the old, obsolete files. My texture packs aren't causing any lag for me, but the clutter of all the outdated files that are still in it might be slowing things down for other people.
"Can multiplayer servers detect this?"
Absolutely not! Since all the information is 100% clientside, the server has no way of knowing what texture pack you're using. I usually use words like "usually," "probably" and "almost certainly" to avoid lumping things into 0%/100% categories, but let me be firm on this. It is absolutely impossible for a multiplayer server to have an understanding of what texture pack you're using. However, if you're being obvious about how you're using it, (I.E. digging tunnels straight to diamond ores in pitch black darkness without placing torches), moderators may teleport to you and realize what you're doing.
Actually I have played on many servers that will not display ore tiles unless they are exposed to air. You will be able to see through the blocks but what would normally show as ores would appear as stone. So yes, you can see through to the ores, but they appear as stone so you have no idea where they would be. Even if an ore is exposed to air, if you are standing from a side that is touching stone, you will only see stone. It just depends if the server has anti-x-ray.
Also I don't understand why people use x-rays to cheat. If you want easy items, just play with cheats on or creative mode and just give yourself all those items. X-raying and giving yourself items are both just as accomplishing. And by that, I mean not accomplishing at all.
Ehhh, almost. While working on redstone contraptions, it's easier for me to see what I'm doing with my own texture pack instead of using an xray mod. It's also easier/less disorienting for me to spot and instantly recognize the various twists and turns of cave systems and ravines with my texture pack instead of a mod. Not to mention how it distinguishes between individual ores even from great distances due to the different shapes, doesn't make things like cacti, TNT and strongholds invisible, is specifically made to work with all of the mods included in Tekkit, TFC and the Aether mod, lets you know which way the 4 cardinal directions are thanks to the sun and moon compasses, you never have to worry about rain, snow or clouds obscuring your vision, you can equip pumpkins as helmets to see a little better in the dark; the list goes on and on.
But yeah, clientside mods are still useful. Instead of only using one or the other, I like using both.

Curse PremiumBlueCoin - Haha, yeah, that was written a long time ago. I need to delete that since it's no longer true. Thanks for the heads-up!
Edit: Another note to self, make endstone less solid.
