im pretty new to this and this is the first i downloaded. It wont spawn me in the right area not sure why. help?
Good question. But this is a texture pack, so there isn't a specific area you should spawn... try downloading a Portal dungeon if you want a specific portal experience( Links in the OP).
In the opening post right after the images right where it said it would be. (If you're having trouble finding it for some reason, use "ctr-f" search, "Zip file here" Which should take you directly to the packs).
1.9 Pre-release 5 Update: (reuploaded. Apparently there were some transparent pixels that I couldn't see turning up as stray green pixels in-game... All fixed now. I also took this opportunity to put in the updated maps and pumpkin vinettes).
Modified Portal:
Wolves are now husky wolves. Because I like 'em.
Both Packs:
New title panoramas. Bit 'o trivia: The GLaDOS in the panorama is the one from the dungeon I made a while back. =P
New: enchantment tables, enderman pearl/eyes, glistering melons, giant mushrooms, netherwart, book particles, and potions (potions don't look too different, but I couldn't alter them much without requiring an hd patch. I had WANTED to make them syringes...oh well. They'll do for now). Iron bars were reverted back to default, and there's also a new "Chell" painting available in the alternate paintings.
Nether materials (soul sand/nettherack/netherbrick) were altered drastically because I didn't like how "unportal" the other ones had looked. Now they can be used for hideyhole materials, or perhaps Portal 2 locations or something...
Minecon Update:
New caveman squidwards! (aka: NPC villagers). In the photo below you see the farmer and the blacksmith. My favorite new villager skin is the priest, but I'll let you come across it in-game as a surprise. =D
Also added in this version are: New "win" text. You'd need to change this manually (unless some sort of patch software does it for you). Other changes in this version are too small to mention.
Enjoy minecon!
EDIT: Woo! Minecraft is officially released, YAY! The official release is the same as Candidate 2 (texture-wise). So consider my update a few hours ago the official 1.0 update. =D (Don't be confused. The zips are called Candidate 2, but it's the same thing as 1.0. I checked).
And no, the texture pack still isn't done, and yes, I still plan to work on it. So don't freak out because the Enderdragon isn't textured yet and stuff like that... it's still a work in progress (most important stuff is done though. Like usual).
I put the texture pack in the texture pack folder, opened minecraft and selected the texture pack, but I didn't have the textures! Please help.
Hm... that shouldn't have happened. So you see the texture pack in minecraft, but not the textures when you play the game? Did you follow these steps in the OP? (If so, I suggest googling what type of computer you have, and "how to add minecraft texture pack.")
How to add the texture packs:
1. Download the zip file.
2. Use your computer's search function ("find" or "search") and type in "Run"
3. Open run and type: %appdata%/.minecraft/texturepacks
4. Drag the zip file into this folder
5. Open minecraft and click on "Mods and Texture Packs" in the main menu.
6. The pack should be there, enjoy!
7. If the pack isn't there for some weird reason, try following steps.
To StoneLife and MisteriosM, I'm glad you like the pack! It's knowing people enjoy using it that drives me to keep trying to make it better. =D
Carlotta, you've done it again! The only thing is that the win txt doesn't have the colors for me.
Really? How weird! I thought I tested that (at least, with a pre-release. I'll have to check again... maybe they changed some small code or something for 1.0).

Please let me know if you figure it out; I've written a parody of the win text as well but I can't get the colors or the fizzled-out text to appear. =(

Done. I'm afraid the issue must be on your end... I just tested it again, and it showed the text colors for me. How are you replacing the file? I usually just copy and paste it over, so maybe it's how you're transferring it? As for the "fizzled out" text, I tried not to edit the actual credits too much due to not understanding how they work (and wanting to give full credit to those who built minecraft)... the last quote was just copy-pasted over the mark twain code in the .txt file.
This is looking good! I think you should add some portal 2 references like a Cave Johnson painting.
There are, actually! There is a Cave Johnson/Caroline painting as well as a Chell painting available in the alternatives (you have to switch it out manually until Minecraft gets more default paintings). I couldn't put them in default because it was more important to have paintings warning of turrets and the sort, but they're in the files if you'd like to use them.
I've also got a combustible lemon, potato GLaDOS, and defective turret in the Precisely Portal pack. So there's quite a few Portal 2 references in there.
Update: Precisely Portal had minecart tracks changed to a sort of Portal 2 "lightbridge" look.
Both Packs: New minecart, boat, records, blaze powder, ice, bed, moon phases, layered clouds, and red button (in alternatives, not available in default). Those clouds took forever, so I'm going to make you look at them.
hey, i have a two questions. One) can i use this for my Portal 2 Map, and two) do vines still look like vines, or dirt still look like dirt? because i need to know if i am going to use this or make/get someone else to make a specific texture pack for my map.

1) Yes, just read the opening post to see how crediting and etc. is done.
2) That depends on the pack you use. Vines look like vines in both packs, but dirt is only dirt in Modified Portal. I suggest looking at the small terrain images I included in the OP in order to see which pack is more to your liking. Modified keeps nature as nature-like as possible, and Precisely focuses more on imitating portal (sacrificing some nature to do so. It's got stuff like mushroom turrets and particle reeds).

I usually just use normal stone. I think I've seen other people use cobble or whatever before, though.

That's okay, at least I forced you to look at them in the screenshot *evil, crazed laugh*
