Welcome to the introductory post for FatalCraft, this is a texture pack built with a specific feeling. With the wood, the trees, and the leaves, I was just trying to evoke a kind of early American feeling, but that evolved to being a more general Midwest historical feeling, with a few obvious deviations from time to time. I really wanted to be able to craft buildings that felt different depending on if they were in a desert or a woodland area, hence a focus on the wood, leaves,, and trees, as well as the sandstone. The secondary intention was for all of the materials that conceivably could, be made to work well together. I hope you’ll forgive a few eccentric moves, and try it out.
The trees are a custom biome texture, designed to give a slightly fall feeling, to allow the trees more contrast from the grass.
All of the various stone, wood and sand textures are designed to intermix much stronger now.
All of the wool textures have been completely redone, they add a nice feeling of texture to sprite art, while retaining approximately their original colours.
All of the mobs have been re-skinned, excluding the ghast. All items have been re-skinned, apart from the armor icons, the watch and the compass, the last two are not accepting skins at the moment, however. The enemy mob skins are a bit eccentric and I fully plan to offer improved versions of the original, but I don’t think the ones in place actually violate any interpretation of the game. As part of my goal to improve the ability to mix and match blocks, the cactus, which is primarily used as a weapon and not decoration, has been changed into barbed wire, which I feel is suitable for any location.
This image illustrates, from left to right, the iron versions of the hoe, which has become a kama, a farming tool and weapon, the pickaxe, which is just a pickaxe, enjoy it. The axe, and finally, the deadly katana sword.
The first half of the image shows the more realistic scale I went for with the re-skinned items.png, the character is holding a golden apple, and in the other picture, the iron shovel.
I’ve included two files to choose from if you don’t want the katana, a European style broadsword, and the more esoteric gladius, they are pictured here. There is also a file in which the swords are replaced by axes, for those that want something more unusual.
Plans
I am going to put out a version soon that will include a real cactus, if that is a deal breaker for anyone. I am also planning to create a standard European style version in which both the kama and the katana are replaced by more traditional tools. I also need to create better gold versions for the weapons. I still need to re-skin (as opposed to editing alone) the wheat, and completely re-skin the jukebox and the note block. Any suggestions or input would be great, thank you.
Instructions
There are two files you need, the base texture pack of your choice (Original, Swords, Axes, or Gladius) and the Biomes fix. The texture pack files are all ready for you, they’re zipped and can just be placed in your texturepacks folder within your “.minecraft” (easily accomplished by opening Minecraft, going into the Texture Packs section and opening it by using the button there) and then it can be selected from the appropriate menu within Minecraft.
The second file the Biomes fix, is a bit more difficult, for this, you need to open your Minecraft.jar, located in your .minecraft and then in another subfolder named “bin” The .jar file can be opened with the compression program of your choice, WinRar, 7-zip, and so on. Take the files from the Biomes Fix file, and drag and drop them into the “misc” folder of the .jar file. This will alter the colors of the leaves and grass within your Minecraft game and must be done for the appropriate colors to show.
I like it. It looks like a dulled down, lower contrast version of Quandary. Its almost calming.
I don't like the cobble, though. You should make it look more like cobblestone rather than the old stone, maybe like stone bricks?
That's a good idea, I'll definitely try that in a future update. I was kind of going for a sort of cement like look, since I primarily use cobblestone as a foundation and for practical buildings, but I can see that if you wanted to incorporate it into a building or domicile, it'd look like the landlord came and stole all your carpeting during the night.

My Grandmother passed away on Sunday, the 7th of August, 2011. I am taking an extended leave of absence in light of this. My apologies.
