Well, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask for help, but it has to do with texture packs so I'm sorry if it is in the wrong section.
well, i wanted to change the block breaking status thing that has cracks going outwards in the terrain.png in my texture pack, without making a backup, thinking it would be an easy fix. So me being me, I opened up paint and changed it, only to find out when I next used the texture pack, things that should be transparent (e.g. glass, door windows, ladder background) were replaced with white.
Can anyone tell me how to do transparency in GIMP? I've scoured youtube, but all the guides on transparency i could find were very imprecise.
The eraser should draw transparently, if it doesn't you might need an alpha (transparent) channel on that layer.
In the layers box you should see a thumbnail of the image, right click it and select Add alpha channel. Then try the eraser again. Hope that helps.
also, if u ever try to create your own texturepack, i would suggest using Paint.net, because regular MS Paint doesn't support transparency, which paint.net does. just a little heads up
