I have some friends who are amazing artists and they really want me to create Minecraft "kz.png" files showcasing their art. Now, we've all seen what Minecraft does to artwork. If you haven't, this'll enlighten you: . Yeah, not the best way to show off the quality of your art. Not to mention I don't want to have to crop the pieces either.
So, I have one question: How do I keep the aspect ration and pixel definition the same while still scaling down the pictures to fit on the grid?
The more detail, the better, if you don't mind my asking. Any and all help is wholly appreciated.
Your best option if you want to keep as much as you can is to use a kz.png that is 1024x1024 (or 64x resolution as it's referred to around here) Unfortunately that will limit the use of the image to just those people who use the high def patcher. If that doesn't really appeal to you, then I suggest cropping bits out of the images and using those instead of using the whole images. Crop bits that are either the same dimensions as the paintings or even multiples of their size as that will scale better.
