I understand how to skin mobs, but does someone have an image like this (or make an image? :/) that explains which parts of the skin are which? I especially need this for chickens, sheep, etc. because the skin is the same on a lot of sides.
The best thing to do is take a series of colors and place lines where you think the edges are.. if you are using photoshop just do it on a new layer so you can turn the lines on and off and scrap them when you don't need it any more.. if you place outlines around everything you suspect is a side, save as a png, and place it in the game, you can then go and find the mobs and look and see what is off. if you made a red side, and a blue side.. and the blue is creeping over on to the red, you know to go and move the line and try again.
I don't have an outline prepared.. I should have saved on for my own use at the very least because the chicken is trouble. One warning... The spider has excess texture on its file.. I don't know why.. it just does.. so its the trickiest to figure out.
I have one I used for spiders. I can upload it for you if you'd like. It even uses lines to denote which edge is closest to the front and top (the front only having a line to point the top (same with back) and the bottom and top using two dots to denote which edge is closest to the front)
Also, the sheep has a little excess as well
EDIT: Actually, I'll do it for all the mobs tomorrow and make it a mob pack for those who need help
Hint for now: Four legged mobs have the skins work a little differently than two legged mobs
EDIT: Oh, with spiders, the legs are... Well, the end that attaches to the spider for the right legs is the end that acts like the foot for the left legs. So you can't do anything fancy such as make them have red feet

by and large the above logic is used...
