Recently updated with mobs and fixed the storage chest issue. Have fun folks.
This is a texture pack based off of the book I am currently writing. Seeing as many of you have not (and will not) read it I will just go ahead and give you the gist of it. It's a post-apocalyptic world being tormented by a mad-man hellbent on destroying what vestiges of life that remain. The only important part is the fact that bombs have destroyed everything. I'm attempting to make many of the blocks fit the dark world and I hope to change the tools, weapons, armor, and mobs to go along with it. I'm not happy with some of the blocks I've changed so far (the planks and sand being part of them) but I've recently been graced with the ability to change the color and look of the grass so I'm not too far behind in the loop.
The green/gold block is the sand. I'm trying to give a scorched look but I don't think I'm pulling it off. The bedrock looking block is actually my new gravel. I'm fine with the way it looks as it sticks out against the stone and other blocks related to it.
The brown block with the hole (a dispenser) is a barrel. It also replaces the default furnace. It's not pretty but then again, a rusty piece of iron isn't supposed to be. You can see the ugly planks in the back along with the smoothstone fountain and stepping stones. The grass and dirt have changed for the better (however, I am willing to tweak the grass more).
This picture contains the replacements for the workbench, the storage chest, and the wooden door. I like the door and workbench. The storage chest has an error on my part. The straps on top aren't actually straps at all, they're meant to be the back of the chest. That idea, however, is foiled until I get up to fix it.
Just a change to obsidian. I believe the look fits fairly well in the up and coming wastes.
Now, the biggest jump ahead I've made is the trees. They look scorched and, soon, the leaves will receive a makeover to look dead.
It's a metal ladder. What more?
These are the weapon replacements. In order of appearance: Baseball bat, granite club, tire iron, cattle prod, and gold lump on a stick.
Here are the dead leaves I promised.
The sand has changed again and this time for the better. I've gotten feedback from a few friends (and a few pictures to a few testers) saying that it this sand texture fits the new world better than the previous sand.
Here is the coal. I think it sticks out against the smoothstone but others may not think so.
End Notes
I'm happy with the progress so far. The tools are done (I'm leaving the hoes as I can't think of anything after a wooden hoe) and the armor are finished. If there are any changes needing to be done I'll gladly work on it. The sky is ugly, just warning you now. I wish I could just change it but I had to change the clouds instead. If there's a popular demand to change it I'll upload a version with the default clouds. (The nether has not been edited.)
I like it so far! I'm not sure I like the green blocks, is that dirt? I would make it more obvious to whatever block it's referring to.
It reminds me of a post apocalyptic world, which is good! Keep up the good work!!

You've got a good point. The sand looks a little off (almost like sponge). The sand and plank blocks are something I'm not entirely happy with. I'll see what I can do about making them more obvious to a user. Thanks for the feedback!
Ladies and gents, the pack is 'ready'. I'm in the process of messing with the mobs but it is ready for normal play. It's not pretty, not by far, but most of the minor issues have been fixed or will be fixed. I shall dub the pack 'Wastecraft'. I've gotten a few messages regarding the coal blending in with the blocks. I addressed that with white flecks in the coal block but if more changes are needed then I will gladly edit it. I will add more pictures in the first post and add a download link. THIS IS MY LAST SHAMEFUL BUMP. I PROMISE THIS WILL MY LAST POST TWICE IN A ROW.
Let me just say that if this was finished, I would download this in a heartbeat. Keep working on it- I'm really liking what I see so far (and yeah, the blocks in the first screen don't really look torched to me, either. I think you should try making them look much more gray; everything else is going to be colored anyway.)

Plus, a shameful bump. :c
I'll may just do that. Seeing as there is no obvious way to edit the sky, the clouds may end up being my answer.
