Hey all, just a new pack I've created which is still a work-in-progress.
Pixelade is a complete overhaul of the default texture set that pops with color, patterns and detail. It also smooths out some of the familiar rough spots to give the world a fresh new look. Color-wise, everything should still look fairly recognizable and many of the original item textures have been cleaned up, re-colored and completely redrawn.
Due to popular request for new screens, here they are:
Selection Screen:
Crafting:
Furnace:
Inventory + Armor (Note: Armor is based on Quake marine armor!):
Seriously? At least give some constructive criticism so he can make it better. I would but I don't really have any, it looks good in game and doesn't make me want to barf so imho it's an OK texture pack.
Thanks for making that point, f1gm3nt3d. For those that don't like it, whatever, that's your personal preference and you're entitled to your own opinion. But I'd like to get some constructive feedback on things I can fix or change if something looks messed up or needs changing.
Anyway, with some of the feedback given from a few of my friends I tweaked things up a bit on the mirror copy, changed the MrSlobby default char to alt_char.png (you can change him back) and created a MrSkullHeadFace default char skin which is basically a suit with a skull head. Also cleaned up the Zombie skin a bit to be less blurred and bloodied.
The most common complaint was the bleed of the grass on the sides of blocks and the color of the dirt, so I browned the dirt a bit more from it's original non-dirt-ish color and reduced the bleed of grass so it's not hanging far down the and also tweaked the snowed over grass to match.
A few other things were tweaked but nothing really noticeable or worth noting.
Yeah, I'm working on getting some soon and took the old ones down. The screens that I had were from versions previous to the current so I didn't want to confuse people.
Thanks for the feedback. The textures aren't expected to line up 1:1 and will clash in some places more than others. As for the effect you're witnessing with grass and sand at a distance, that's just a moire pattern that's created and I intentionally textured it like that to have it in there. Mostly for the fact that with some packs that have flat textures that it's nearly impossible to gauge where a block ends and whether or not you're about to walk off of a cliff. This sort of helps with that until we get better lighting in the default game.
Animals and mobs are still sort of a major WIP to get to fit right. I spent probably the most time on sheep and cows and I still think cows don't feel right with the high level of detail and lack of proper physical shape to define them better.
As for the glass; I'm personally not satisfied with the glass either and there's really no work-around until alpha channels for glass textures can be supported like they are with ice or tree leaves. I'd like to keep the same pattern to a degree while giving the glass a slight frost or tint. Currently the glass is just a way to be able to see through it without having huge unnecessary borders or blocking your line of sight with little patches all over it. This makes building with it slightly harder, I know but it's the price you pay for clear glass. Sorry if you don't like it.
As for the pack name, it's temporary and is more of an inside joke between a friend and I due to some of the crazy stuff I've built and I was at a loss as to what to actually name the pack. Feel free to offer some appropriate suggestions and I'll consider them if they're not already taken.

Let me know what you think. I'm slowly tweaking and changing things so this isn't yet final.

Done. Added a few shots of stuff that's mostly "final" as far as I can tell. Hope that helps.
