Ah, so the pine, which is a softwood... XD
Just to prevent future confusion, here is how I refer to the three tree types:
Normal/Original Trees: These are the trees you see all over the place in non-snowy regions and the only trees who's leaves are currently affected by the biome colorations.
Birch: The trees with the white bark. They share the normal tree leaf pattern but have a fixed coloration.
Pine: The cone shaped trees in the snow regions. They have a different leaf pattern and a fixed coloration.
Yea I'm working towards a scaly texture on the pine bark but I don't think it's quite there yet. It's interesting that you like the snow but not the sand since the snow and the sand are the same with different color tints. I think sand is perhaps one of the textures I have the most trouble with. At 16x each pixel is roughly the size of a large marble or ping-pong ball. This makes doing stuff like sand problematic without just resorting to throwing down a bunch of noise.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
Just thought I'd drop in with a quick example of the sort of thing I'm planning on doing with the grass.
Those are both the same texture.
I should note, that the shots are from a 32x pack and thus NOT the grass texture that I'm going to do with this pack but they do clearly show the concept.

I love it but one problem.. Seems kinda.... gloomy. I always liked those bright and cheery ones. Like right now I'm using Moontrain's Lucid Pack. I haven't really see any good packs with the style of that one, but I am starting to like this one. There is too many dark and gloomy texture packs.. brightening it up would help alot!
