This may have been posted before, though a quick search turned up nothing of the sort.
Basically, I'm making a texture pack and want to make diamond blocks(not the ore, the blocks of diamond) transparent. Not invisible, but I'm trying to put a filter on them to make them resemble those glass cubes you sometimes see office walls built out of, the ones that let light through but distort everything you see.
The distortion is unimportant, I just want to make it transparent.
might anyone be able to help me out?
Also I'm looking to make redstone torches brighter, the same as coal torches.

Changing torch brightness is a client mod, not for a texture pack :sleep.gif:
I don't think every block accepts alpha, but you try to just lower opacity.
I did that. I lowered opacity to 56% and fill opacity to 90%.
However, I've just lowered both to 44% and I'll reinsert it into my texture pack.
By the way, might you know how I can change the color of water? I'm trying to make it clear, maybe a little grey, instead of blue.

You won't be able to make diamond block textures have that sort of transparency without modding the game itself - the blocks can either be fully opaque or fully transparent, nothing in between.
For changing the water texture, you can edit the water textures in terrain.png, but you'll only be able to see the custom water in-game using xau's patcher.
AH. Thank you very much. I was afraid of that. oh well. there goes that idea.
On the water, I've had XAU's patcher for a while now. used to use some great 64x64 packs until i started getting massive slowdown from the beta update.
Will I have to make a separate file for the custom water texture to animate properly?
