MineTrek? Sounds sorta like Star Trek... Oh wait.
Welcome, forum goers, to my first Texture Pack: MineTrek. This is a pack I've been wanting to find for a long time, but none of the current Sci-Fish packs really have that certain look I want. So, naturally, since I couldn't find it, I figure I'd do my own!
This pack is still a work in progress, however. I am no where near finished as I plan to re-texture just about everything. Right now, I'd like some feed back on what I do have. I've taken some screen shots, so please, take a look.
Current Goals:
[*:27t4r39p]Finish the terrain.png (50% Complete)
[*:27t4r39p]Finish the Paintings (45% Complete)
[*:27t4r39p]Re-texture the GUI (15% Complete)
[*:27t4r39p]Re-texture lava as plasma (0% Complete)
[*:27t4r39p]Re-texture the items.png (0% Complete)
Future Goals:
[*:27t4r39p]Map with mock up ship to show off texture pack
[*:27t4r39p]Youtube video to show off texture pack
[*:27t4r39p]Starter map with crashed shuttle [Idea Suggested By Mordus]
Some more Engineering stuff. Redstone dust trails. Green is active, red is not. The dark metal block is a gold block. Will probably change to a cloth block at some point. And be touched up, since the diagonal shine on it looks funky. XP
Quick Transporter room example.
Some Sick Bay paintings. And a door control painting. I'm toying with texturing the bookcase into a medical cabinet. Yes? No?
Crew quarters where you can see a torch with the bunk beds.

Engineering! I just want to say I was going to do Engineering and the Medbay, but this took me forever. T_T Medbay will have to wait until another day. Just a quick run down on blocks: Warp Core[Jack O' Lantern], Warp Core Ring[Diamond Block], Metal Scaffolding[Iron Block], Metal Grating:Glass:. I don't like the fence. At all. Why must it pull its texture from planks? TAT Will have to figure something out. :sleep.gif:;
Close up of the grating. I rather like it. <3
Jefferies Tube Door. Tis a painting. A small square one.
Chests! I'm super proud of how these came out. XD I think this and the Iron Block I spent the most time on today came out the best. XDXDXD
Wow they're really nice for a first texture pack! I was actually hoping I would eventually get the motivation to make my own, and this may be it!

Quick edit to first post. Forgot my jefferies tube. o_o;;; Whoopsie.

Really captures the style of Star Trek well, and I like what you did with the workbench and so on. I'm a little rusty on my Star Trek equipment, but what do you think about re-skinning the forge to a reactor?
Do you have any plans for coloured wool?
Haha, I hadn't actually thought about that! The reactor part, that is. See? Now I'm already happy to have asked for some advice! Do you mean some sort of 'control' console for it, or the actual plasma tubes? I was thinking of re-texturing the lava to blue, so it's actually animated. Hmmm... Will have to play with it I think! As for the cloth, besides like four colors (white, light grey, red, and blue) I was thinking of using them as other things. Like take a yellow block, slap the paneled wall texture on it, and then add a door control. That way it will look like the doors can be operated in true Trek fashion. Granted it's just a visual effect, but the little details can really make a difference.
Thanks for the encouragement, guys! It really motivates. =D
Also, I'll actually get my first post organized between now and a few days, so I can post all my current ideas and what you can expect.

This is what I mean. Keep in mind that's a really quickly slapped together texture. The buttons are off center. D= That's pink cloth re-textured, btw.

The way I'd do it is retexture the front of the forge to look like a plama tube, that is either on or off depending on whether you are currently cooking something in it. Should look fairly nice, with console buttons on top, I think. Of course, you'll have to decide for yourself how to go about this.
Problem with just texturing the front of it, though, is you couldn't have free standing warp cores like they have in the shows and movies. The sides would show. It'd either be all or nothing. And going with the complete stove as a warp core, then the Dispensers sides would look funny, since they share those textures.
haha i love this! and im not even a star trek fan! i wish u luck on your mining adventures for making such an amazing pack, especially for ur first pack!

I see where you are coming from, but is there any reason not to have a small plasma tube stove console as well as another block that is a free standing warp core?
Hmmm, I'll give it a go, and see what I can come up with. =D
Dude, this pack is awesome. You just get it right.
Keep up the good work!
PS: The replicator is awesome. I'm using it as a food dispenser anyway. :smile.gif:
*EDIT* The reactor core should be the retextured lava as you said before. Stove could be some engineering panel or something like that.
So u can make engineering panel like this:

= anything :biggrin.gif:
Haha, I use the dispensers as fridges. XD Nice to see someone else on my wave length. And yeah, the stove will definitely be an engineering control.
I tried to make it a mini warp core and it didn't look right at all.

Actually what would be a better Idea would be to retexture the buttons to look like control panels. 1. It will save you the yellow block for use on something else 2. It would make them actually work!
Also why not just use water instead of making lava blue?

Buttons have the same texture as stone.

Unfortunately, Korimito is right. Buttons, (and the pressure plate for that matter) don't have textures of their own. I'd love to be able to change the button, but no go on that.
As for the water, well, water doesn't glow. =( Warp Cores glow.
Another small update! Messed around with my organization in the first post and then posted some new screen shots! These feature a few of the paintings I've gotten done. Enjoy!

Most definitely. XD With arrows re-textured to look like phaser bolts.
But for real, I like what I'm seeing here!
