It works! Thanks for help (second time :SSSS:)!
But why it works about 0.3 FPS? Game doesn't fill all my available system memory
From what I've read, Minecraft is one of those games that is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, so it may just be that your CPU is struggling to render the scenes with a large texture pack. In general, again from what I've read about mInecraft and texture packs, the higher the resolution of the texture pack, the slower the game will have FPS, which makes sense to me.
@Kamild1996
Hey there thanks for looking :smile.gif:
Latest mcpatcher is located here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=46173
I'm using it right now and can confirm it works for Beta 1.2_02
and it can be undone by loading the patcher again and instead of selecting a texture pack just click patch and it will revert back to the original 16x16 minecraft.jar
It works! Thanks for help (second time :SSSS:)!
But why it works about 0.3 FPS? Game doesn't fill all my available system memory
City builder is correct, if your computer is struggling at high res texture packs I suggest using lower res one, which is why I provided the 128x128 for those who find 256x256 is slow on their computer :smile.gif:
But if 128x128 is still too slow, change your render distance to Normal see if that helps, you could also try GameBooster. Otherwise you may have to use an even lower res pack. (64x64 for example)
@Scuttles
Thanks for the input, I saw what you meant :smile.gif: I'll get right to it as soon as I've finished fixing up stuff :smile.gif:
You have a really nice texture pack yourself!
I'm not sure what to do about the minerals. The most important part was to get them to blend in with the stone (which they now do) so the next target for them is to make them look more "ore-like" :smile.gif:
And I've stated many many many times in my two HD texture pack videos that a few of the textures were provided by Nickhimself, who gave me permission to use as he isn't with it anymore =/ So thankyou so much for reminding me to put it in the OP, completely slipped my mind :smile.gif:
I'm not convinced with the cracking pattern yet, but it will do for now :tongue.gif:
Just trying to help :wink.gif:
As for the minerals, I'm not sure how far you've progressed, but what I did to mine was made a cube of the desired mineral and started to erase the edges with a soft brush until I get the desired blending effect.
Oh ok, I haven't got around to watching the videos yet. Atleast he was mentioned, his pack was the only hope at the time for a 256 HD pack.
I'll be checking back up on this pack from time to time as it really is a great pack
well done! looking foward to the new update! have you got any plans in the works for custom armor noticed earlier its just standard?
Hmmm I'm not actually sure, I want to. But I usually work best when I have a model to work with.
It'll take longer to do but I'll have a dabble at it :smile.gif: You'll see it either in the next update or the update afterward :smile.gif:
your texture pack is awesome, i love it, CONGRATULATIONS.
More i play with it more i think the green from trees is too green. In my opinion i think it would be better if the green is a little bit less flashy, juste a more dark green but not too much.
It's just a suggestions.
thx for your texture pack. :smile.gif:
I'm glad you like it :smile.gif: And yeah I've noticed that also. I'll have a play around with the folliage textures as they are still Notch's =P Perhaps this could be a good opportunity to add different colours to it (Darker browns etc) Thanks for asking for this, I will do something about it!

ahh thanks thats good to hear with all the other textures looking so sweet, when i made some armor for me and my friend last night it just looked out of place in my inventory and on my character.
Hmmm yeah that's what I'm thinking it will be like if I get my hands on it. So I'm presuming the game accepts the armour being a higher res? I've never actually tried it at higher resolutions. I'm hoping someone releases a program that allows us to see the models while we are working on them, would be so much easier. I used Nifskope when doing texture work for Fallout 3 which literally helped a lot! :smile.gif:
This is waaay too low-res. I refuse to use any textures that are below 1024x1024.
In all seriousness this is great. Giving it a whirl now. :biggrin.gif:
I'm going to assume that was sarcasm as you can't get higher than 256 for now. Perhaps if xau bumps it up to 512 or one day... 1024 *drools*... You'd really need a super super super computer for them haha.
Well some texture packs ive seen can make creepers and other animals/enemys hi res, I know the armor icons should be able to be changed, And i would have thought armor that appears on your character can be as well. Pretty sure ive seen some variations in other packs.
Speaking of creepers...
or this higher res one?
What do you think? I'm going to change the face, its only temp.

OMG who let cousin it dye her hair green! like seriously I like them those look funny and scary at the same time.
pretty much what a creeper is

Yeah they were very hard to see in the dark what with the grass texture as well haha!
But it's more of a concept for them really. I just wondered what they'd look like with a grassy look about them.
Quote from Oysterbarron »
lol im just worried the high res one will clash with the grass to much! they are allready an annoyance in the dark. The ammount of times i wish they didnt dissapear so i can punch them in the face for taking out the side of my house that i made without cheating is unbelivable. talking about my house heres a pic using your texture pack of it with better light and grass.
edit ok maybe not the mods active!
Now THAT is one fine looking house! A very nice screenshot :biggrin.gif:
Shame that the mods weren't active though :wink.gif: haha.
Yeah creepers are very nice at doing that. You look outside and can barely see them as it is! But I've seen a few concept images of Creepers and each of them is always with a green-grass type look. So really I'd want to have them look nice and hidden in the grass ready to pounce on unsuspecting minecrafters :wink.gif:
Plus it's only fair. Spiders get the ability to climb walls... Now creepers can blend in with the environment :biggrin.gif:
But those 2 textures are just tests really. I need to make a tile texture for it first so that it all looks right :smile.gif:
Well the 256 version works fine with no lag but there is a problem. If I use 256 water and lava the games lags so much that it becomes unplayable. This means I need to use mcpatchers custom water and lava but those custom water and lava are only 16x16. That is 16x16 water and lava in a 256x256 world. I have to have it at 256 tile size in mcpatcher or else the game will crash when loading. This means that since the water and lava is only 16x16 it travels really slowly and is very annoying. Can anyone help me fix this?
glad you like it there are no white trees on our server for a radius of about 500 blocks! heres a pick just at night fall with the betterlight and better grass on. Would like to get wildgrass mod working but thats a bit over my head!
And i think it was this topic but please dont make the trees look more rounded by fading the edges of the block it may suit them when they are trees but if you use them to build like i have then they dont look as good!
On the subject of creepers as long as they look cool thats the main thing! My friends on teamspeak hate it when i fall out of trees onto one of them i scream, but when were out exploring i look at them and shout watch out theres a creeper behind you and they run like little girls when there is nothing there!
No wonder there aren't any birch trees anywhere! You used them all making that house! Haha! I would like to have used wildgrass too =/
And your right about the tree's I noticed it before while testing it out, wasn't all that inpressive while building with them. Made my wooden houses look odd =P
Haha I love doing that! Such fun times teasing people with creepers. Or while theyre afk you put tnt infront of them and set it off so it makes a crater, so they fall in it =3 Ah good times.
The creepers will look good, all I need to do is make a tile texture for it and everything will look just right.

Hmmm It lags with water and lava? Well you have 3 options really. Either try the 128 texture pack see if thats any better, put up with the 16 water and lava or just update your computer(which I don't recommend just for a texture pack)
But yeah what's the spec of your computer, OS and whether or not you're on a 32bit system?
Quote from jcool_83 »
i tried running the 256x256 in full screen mode and it keeps crashing my minecraft.
gonna try redownloading minecraft.jar to see if that corrects it
only has occured in full screen mode.
tried again with the 128x128 and it works flawlessly
Full screen mode crashing minecraft? Hmm that's odd =/
I never play in fullscreen mode because I'm always busy doing other things and plus... Minecraft on a 42" is big enough don't you think?? xD
Although I'm glad it doesn't crash on 128x128
What OS you on? If you're on a 64 bit system. Get the 64 bit java! It improves minecraft a LOT.
Well the game runs fine with the 128 so I will be using that. I just don't know what 256 water and lava causes the game to lag. It can handle 256 textures but no water and lava? Is it because water and lava contain too much animation for 256 and my computer can't handle it? Anyway, I will be running 128 for right now.

Honestly I wouldn't know.
I can only presume that your computer can't handle the animation but I don't see why not.
The only lag I've ever got when using my 256 textures was when 1.2_2 came out and mcpatcher didn't like it at all... I couldn't place torches without it crashing and was laggy as hell. But after the most recent mcpatcher came out it worked as fine as ever.
But so long as 128 works fine I think it's a win really :smile.gif:
Wow, dude, thats really cool stuff.
Makes me wondering, if i ever will go to finnish my 256-Pack, I started last week :/
Is this Map made by yourself?
If yes, can you think about putting it online, too?
That would be just perfect for testings :wink.gif:
Thanks!
I hope you get yours finished too :smile.gif:
And which map are you refering to? The one with all the blocks for testing textures?
I might upload a world just for that sometime but it will be much less all over the place like mine :smile.gif:

Hey love ur texturepack
but i found some thing that kinda ruin the beautiful of it
and the dirt need a little tweak to. when u have a open field with dirt it looks wierd :-D
best regards.
keep the good work up
Thanks! I know I've noticed them but Instead of taking care of individual texture issues I'm going to do this in stages:
1) Mobs
2) GUI
3) Texture fixes
However naturally if there is a horrible bug in the textures that will get fixed. The cobblestone and dirt textures are not urgent... yet... :smile.gif:
Thanks for pointing it out though!

My best trick i played on a friend the other day. Sneaked up behind him while he was digging a 2x1 tunnel without him seeing, He dug out some coal but still hadnt seen me and he looked up and put a torche on the wall, I then punched it off the wall and it went dark! I saw him look at the torch and put it back on the wall, I then punched it off again and he starts saying wtf is going on!he picks it up places it back and i do the same and start rofl he turnsx round and see's me we were both cracking up!
on the topic of a few bugs found this problem with the switches not rendering right or might need a different texture.
Haha I can imagine how hysterical that would have been! I wish I played SMP more often but I just don't have the time. I do go on my home server with my family sometimes though if they need help with something. I'm a mini minecraft encyclopedia theres "almost" nothing I don't know. =D ...except complex redstone circuits, I don't have the patience for that.
And yes I know, the texture for torches, redstone and levers are placeholders for now. I had an idea for them but failed. I need to do them again. I'll get right to them now then update with a few more mobs and hopefully a fixed furnace gui. Just finished a creeper texture that I'm extremely happy with :smile.gif:
So yeah expect that later tonight, I think I'll call it V1.01 :smile.gif:
V1.01 is now out so don't forget to update :smile.gif:
Quote from Oysterbarron »
It was one of those moments you wish you had your video capture software running and something to capture the audio from the chat! he wont fall for it again! look foward to the new version texture tester standing by!
Well there you have it, v1.01 all for you to test.
Be sure to tell me what you think of the glass change, blue seemed a little out of place and can leave one wondering where the blue came from in the sand... Also the levers have been fixed (and torches etc) However I may change the wood to be darker as they seem to be a little too light.
Read the changelog for more info on the update and tell me what you think! :smile.gif:

Whoops :/
Yeah, sorry, I meant the one from the Video where you're presenting your textures.
May you then maybe send me a link for the one you have atm, 'cause I've no time to put all the things together/ to search for them... Just need something to test my work, and every othe map of that kind is at least one month old, so the new blocks are missing...
Ah just updated the texture pack, I'll get the world made now and put it in signs. I'll message you when its done with a link to it :smile.gif:
You've got just a red square (256) on the forge flame, just sayin' lol
New version has addressed this, please update :smile.gif:
Please leave feedback on that too :smile.gif:
Quote from Oysterbarron »
New version has addressed that still looking through! new windows are better suited!
Yep :smile.gif:
And thanks! keep it all coming.
I've just uploaded a world save for those of you wanting to see all the textures first hand, if world1 is already used just rename it to world2, 3 etc
You can also use it to test other texture packs. It's has ALL of the games content in it
