Dark Pack removed
Just updating the Light Pack and Gray Pack for now.
I love this texture pack so much. It takes me back to the days when all I could play was a Game Boy, haha.
Now, I wonder, since right now there's the Light Pack and Gray Versions, if there may be a possibility of a 'CraftBoy Color' Version, modeled after its successor, the Game Boy Color? Cause seriously that would rock.
Extraordinary pack. It takes me back (rhyme unintended).
However, I could not find any "craftboy" entries on the Skindex. My Pigeonman sticks out like a sore thumb.
I found this resource pack about five days ago in a gallery on one of those ty Facebook list websites (this one was 5 Cool Minecraft Maps or something). I Google'd around a bit before finding any info on the pack, finally managed to download it (CraftBoyL and CraftBoyG, after using both my personal preference is G).
Initial impression was, holy crap, this is amazing! I ended up making an Adventure Mode map based around the texture pack, the original Zelda, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Link's Awakening style of map but in three-dimensions and it turned out so well that I've sunk five days into it. I've been mostly using the greyscale textures, but I've been periodically making sure that my map looks good on both packs and making touch-ups where I needed to.
I shot you a rating of 5 stars and 4.5 stars on the two websites I found your resource pack on, it's probably the best one I've found so far!
Things that are great:
Overall aesthetic is beyond words when it comes to nostalgia value and how well it meshes with Minecraft. I can already think of a hundred things I could make with this pack.
In certain places it's very easy on the eyes, Stone Brick and the various Wood pieces look amazing both in green and grey.
The Emeralds make me happy.
Things that are not great:
Certain textures can be confusing, especially on greyscale; water vs. lava being one example (not a problem in green).
Certain textures are glitchy and/or brutal to look at. Netherbrick creates insane flashes in the white lines on my screen and gives me headaches to look at, making the Nether pretty much impossible to build in.
Certain textures look bad in large numbers. I'm using Podzol in one of my forest zones, but if I have any more than a 2x2 block it starts looking super "busy" and cluttered. Soul Sand is another culprit.
On greyscale mode, random textures seem to be green instead of grey, examples being vines, leaves and other decorative pieces. Not sure if it's something you haven't gotten around to or something you forgot about.
Things I know aren't your fault but would be awesome in later updates:
Sky, sunrise, sunset colours.
Particle effects on Redstone Torches, enchantments, etc., basically all the stuff you've already listed here.
Ps. If you want to check out what I've made so far or grab some screenshots, feel free to message me.
Thanks for the review, i'm glad you like it! I've taken some of those flaws into account (see changes below). The vines, leaves and other decorative pieces are fixed by using MCPatcher: The sunrise, enchantments etc. can't be fixed at all yet.
Life's got busy here, but the packs are now updated for 14w11b!
Added Granite, Andesite and Diorite
Added Polished Granite, Polished Andesite and Polished Diorite
Added Slime block
Steve skin updated to new format
Added Endermite
Added Barrier item
Added Iron Trapdoor
Altered Wooden Trapdoor
New Command Block texture (based on Pokemon PC)
De-cluttered Soul Sand and Podzol
Darkened Nether Brick
Changed Lava
Made Flowing Water/Lava match Still Water/Lava (but animation now looks a little strange)
Added Difficulty lock icon
I have dabbled in making a Craftboy Color pack, but the authentic colours hurt my eyes... no plans for custom block models, as the Game Boy was never a polygon-pushing machine (I don't think it could push ANY)!
Do you want any help for making the Craftboy color pack? If I had a color guide to convert the gray-scale pack to those colors, I`d be able to complete it for you.
Edit:I know it`s been a while,but I imagine you have a busy life.
The Color pack is half done. I don't like the look of it, but i'm making an effort to get it up to date to release, so even if I don't go any further on it, you and others have got something to work with.
Not sure what the official palette is for Game Boy Color games - i've just been taking screenshots with VisualBoyAdvance and using the colours from those. I know the rule is 4 colours per 8x8 tile (3 if it's a sprite, as the 4th colour is transparency), but i've already cheated and used more colours than that on a few blocks.
The Gray and Green packs are 99% up to date: I've been waiting for 1.8 to be released, but it's taking it's sweet time.
Finally, ImageShack is no longer free, so i'm finding somewhere else to host the images in this thread.

Have you considered adding mod support? The backpack mod, Pixelmon, and Super Mario Mod are a few that looked like they can benefit with the color schemes, along with a few other nintendo-inspired mods.I mean if you don`t mind. Say hello to the Super Mario Land style.(It is a gray-scale of the original mod textures.) I want this to look excellent into your gameboy pack, so do whatever it takes to make it look amazing. Good day. Awesome work you're doing thus far on the pack! Very quickly becoming my preferred retro-style pack. I'm even working on a set of sounds to accompany my personal experience! Which is coming along nicely, even though I've only got a few for the moment.
Secondly, I'm curious. As to shorten some of the workload, would you like any assistance creating connected textures for the colored glass? I have created an automated method using photoshop actions for connected glass, which I could tweak to work for colored glass. Just an offer.
Also, I'm unsure if it's on purpose or not, but bookshelves seem to be missing their wooden top (at least in the green pack) when using connected textures. If this is indeed an accident, it can be fixed in one of two ways. To make it most backwards compatible with previous (like, much older versions of MCPatcher/Minecraft), I would recommend changing the line from "matchBlocks=47" to "matchTiles=bookshelf". Otherwise, if you would rather match the block specifically, but would still like to fix the top to be wooden, then you can simply add the line "faces=sides". This will tell the connected textures to only affect the sides, rather than the whole block.
If you're not too interested in maximizing backwards compatibility with particularly old versions, or would simply like to keep it modern for current versions of the pack, then you can change the format of the whole properties file to the modern MCPatcher methods (for at least 1.6 and up, I believe), which I feel to be much more straight-forward, as ctm works for almost every block these days. An example of a modern properties file for bookshelves would be one of the following, all of which will achieve the same thing for bookshelves. Also note that you can name the properties file to whatever you wish using either of the first two methods. Method 3 will only work if the properties file is named after the texture file being changed. In this case, bookshelf.properties would be the required name for method 3, resulting in the shortest properties file.
I understand and respect if you do not wish to accept any help for the pack. I also apologize if any of what I said seems a bit complicated. Regardless, keep up this wonderful work that you're doing!

A lot of resource packs die when they start supporting mods. I don't mean in popularity, I mean due to lack of time versus perceived workload. When the workload seems endless, then the packs begin to feel hopeless. I can only support the idea if the author of the pack doesn't bite off more than he/she can chew. Mods are constantly being made, enjoyed, and asking resource pack support, so is more than reasonable if an author decides against it.
I think the best method of supporting mods would be for the author to decide what mods he/she would personally like to support (if any), then letting the community create and share the rest.
Thank you for the code help, ZeroLevels! I've got the bookcase corrected now. The documentation for MCpatcher is lacking in places. I didn't realise there'd be a demand for connected coloured glass, but i've taken your suggestion on board and semi-automated my process to get it done!
a2937, sorry but ZeroLevels is right. I don't play Minecraft much myself nowadays, never mind with any mods. The backpack could be easy enough to add in. Is the Minimap mod not updated? I can't seem to find it. You might be able to get away with using the Super Mario mod and the grey Craftboy pack at the same time. If you think i'm converting those hundreds of Pixelmon, you must be joking!
One more treat! There was mention of sound packs... making one by recording from gameboy emulators is very hard and so, so boring, you would not believe how boring. However, this link here will give you what I have so far!

Keep up the good work! I look forward to testing it out in the future!
Maligree, if you feel that you can't find the correct sound needed for something, you might be able to make it with this (little online sound effects generator). Takes some getting used to, but you can make some pretty interesting things with it.
