ok im kind of a little dumb with computers so ....
im going to make a texture pack
i can make all the textures and such but i dont know how to add it to a file so people can put it into minecraft
so i basically need someone to take my textures and put them together ready to go
1. Copy minecraft.jar
2. Paste it and turn it into a zip
3. Remove all class files and folders with no images, or images you don't want to retexture.
4. Start retexturing.

I'll do it if you want me to though, just send me a PM when you're done. But the best thing to do would be to look at someone else's pack and see how they did it!
i was originally intending to just send the terrain file to someone ? is that all i have to do

If you just want to edit the Terrain, yes, that's all you have to do!

it feels like im digging the first shovelfull of a 12 foot deep hole
