I want to start development on a new, 16px texure pack, and I want you to help me with a few things :smile.gif:
First off, I need the new texture pack template. Please don't say "Go look in the jar file darhar" I dont have winRAR or 7zip to open it, so if someone has the beta 1.2 version, in a zip format i would love it :smile.gif:
Secondly, for this pack i am having one of my friends build me a website, and it will have 4 things:
-A Download Pack Page (Get the original, official pack)
-A customizer similar to the one the painterly pack has
-A "draw your own" section. Just select the texture you want to draw, and draw it with a built in paint-type program
-A development blog (not too suprising)
This is where you come in. I want some really nice textures to go in the texture customizer, and you even get credit! (Wow, thats pretty normal to give credit). If you have some textures you think are really nice, or have one from a pack you like, just tell me!
Finally, I have absolutly no skills when it comes to drawing these things. Shading, noise, making the texture look realistic, making it look nice, it is really hard for me. If anyone could teach me some tips and tricks, it would be a big help and you would get quite a bit of credit.
thanks, but my friend is building the customizer. I also don't want to rename the jar to a zip. I don't need help with the site, just the pack itself. Sorry if I was unclear

Sounds to me like you'd like for things to be different than they actually are and you aren't willing to do the easy and simple tasks that are necessary to even begin doing what you'd like to accomplish your goals.

EDIT: Oh, and there's a thread on how to develop texture pack textures on this sub-forum. I can't recall the title. And the search here is abymal refusing to search for "overly common phrases" like [How To]. Sorry I can't be of more help there.

I know of that thread, probably because I was the one who made it lol. Also, it's not thad I don't want to do the tasks you need to do if you want to make a texture pack, I just don't know how. I am very much willing to draw everything, but I don't know how to draw it. For example, I could draw an iron texture If I wanted, but how do I make the Iron look like it is sticking out of the stone? I could draw dirt, but how do I make it look like it has noise. I can draw it, but it look like a 4 year old scribbled it.
So, you're in a tough spot. I'd suggest diving right in and trying. Nothing else will help you improve your drawing or photoshop skills. Just go do it. You'll probably suck. That's okay. You'll get better as you go. There really is no substitute for experience and practice.

Thanks alot! Just one more question. What are the items on the items.png image that are to the left of the dies? They look alot like [] but have a small corner piece or something. Should I explain it more, or do you know what I'm talking about?
I believe the [] things are for the little thing down the bottem of your screen in MineCraft.. Where you put tools.. And stuff? Sorry, not very knowable about this stuff! xD

Ok, you can DL the current textures as a zipped texture pack from my HOW TO: Create a Minecraft texture pack. SIMPLIFIED. thread.
