Asura23 had made a really authenticwolf skinfor 64x, you might find it easier to work from that. The only problem with those skins is that the eyes are too low and far to the sides, easily corrected.
I made some modificationsto it but I'm not really much of a texture artist - I'm sure you could do a better job than I did and you could probably upscale them nicely as well.
And I have a kennel of six wolves that are glad to help test this for you. They did a stellar job helping me to refine Asura's skins and I'm sure they'd be glad to help me assist you. They work cheap - they take their pay in porkchops.
I have looked as Asura's, but found them to be even scarier. I'm trying to alter Misa's into a friendlier looking husky. =D
Copy that and rename it if you have to into "wolf_tame" or just "wolf" depending on if you have them tamed or just captures. XD
Oh, and I'd like to see some screens or opinions if it's not too much.
It's looking pretty good. I'm still not entirely sure I like the open mouth for tamed wolves, especially if you go with bared fangs for angry ones (which, IMO, is the best option). I suppose it comes down to how easy it will be to distinguish a tame wolf from an angry one by appearance. Also, I think tamed wolves look best with a collar (never been fond of the kerchief that others have used).
I am glad to see someone working on more 64x wolf skins and I'll do what I can to assist!

Wow thats great, Misa's is UUUUGLY so this is an improvement. I actually was using the 128x, and got decent FPS, but nowhere near as high as with Misa's. I guess its worth another try though. Only thing is I really like Misa's because its realistic, but still retains some of the MC flare, but I'm going to try this on 128 and see how things go.

That looks AMAZING.
You ARE going to be creating wolf_angry too though?
And what about the color identifying them as tamed? :ohmy.gif:
Other than that, awesome. Really can't wait for a release <3
Tried out 128x128. Its cool, definitely better looking than Misa's, but it brings the FPS down by a lot, I can get 50-60 standing still an Far render, but it really isn't as smooth when running or igniting tnt. I will try 64x64 and see it its more manageable.
Smile for the camera, boys!

Beautiful. =)
Worked out better than I thought. Maybe I am a decent pixel artist.
Alright, I added a few more touches. Sorry everyone for the late release. My family finally got back from Hawaii after 2 weeks and it's been crazy with the unpacking and sharing of stories.

I will have an angry wolf and a tame version as well. The "tame" aspect I'm a little uncertain, but I'm adding in a blue collar until I think of something better.

Adding: Just switched to x64 because I couldn't stand the swirling in x256 and the mipmapping mod screws up glass.
With that said, even in x64 your pack blows my mind.
Just bumping this though.

The black line on the diamond hoe.
Respectable. XD
SO MANY people have harassed me on that black line. Just so everyone knows that this release that I'm zipping as we speak has it fixed. =D

Brilliant. =D
I wish every fan was like you, but alas many problems arise.

Thanks, the 64x64 should be alot smoother and was made for that purpose exactly. Best of luck. =)

Great texture pack. I've been using the Moderncraft texture pack for a while now... but this beats it by a long shot!
The only problem is that it was easy too install. TOO easy.
Gad I could be of a little assistance, and I'm looking forward to your next release!
Moments away. =D
Curse wireless upload speeds. I should have just plugged into the router...

Lol, if you wait like 3 minutes, I'll have my newest update out. ^^
...not sure if this is related to this or not, but minecraft is being an extremely INNAPROPRIATE WORD and likes to crash now that i have found a good texture pack.

Sad day. =(
Have you tried that Java allocation video on the main page? Also, if you have a 64bit system, try downloading 64bit Java.
Great job on the wolves - but the collar looks a bit odd. It basically appears to go around the shoulders (but only the front of them) and not the neck. I'd recommend either carrying the blue line over onto the other panels by an equal amount, or doing a rounder collar as I did with my Asura retexture.
The pack looks gorgeous - the 128 of course looks sharper than the 64, but I like having the smoother framerate and less noise so I'm grateful for the 64x. As Jayne says "I get a little excitable as to my options" :smile.gif:

I figured it would look a bit strange. I'll make more realistic looking collar in due time and I'll make sure to analyze yours first. =)
Lol, I haven't used the 64 too much as I've just grown accustomed to the noise after hours of testing and running around.
Now to wait and see if I broke something with this update. XD

WORKED:D although im kinda confused as to why it worked fine the first time, but the second time i ran it, it needed this..
Keep up the amazing work. :-)
Now if only the Glass didn't get ****ed with Mipmapping, I want to use 256x :sad.gif:
It wasn't so bad in 1.3 with GLSL, but the shaders are bugging out for me now...
Keeps trying to use Bumpmapping even when I don't have bumpmapping shaders, and then when I put in the bumpmapping files into minecraft.jar it doesn't give me the effect and still rapes my FPS.
64x
256x

Oh, and anyone have any wolves on hand? Mine died and I'm sick of running around trying to find one. They can be my beta tester for wolves in the next update. =D
If you still need them let me know.
I have a wolf spawner on my server, which you can use to test.
Just PM me and I can whitelist you on the server + give you the IP. :-)
Wondering if anyone could help me out here:
When I install this (or any 256 pack) it loads to the mojang splash screen, then minecraft just closes. No errors or anything, just closes.
I've got a fairly good computer, 2.8ghz quadcore, 4gb ram, 1gb graphics card and I can run a 128 pack on far/fancy, so no reason why this just wouldn't load at all. I'm using the latest patcher (which I'm told works with 1.4_01)

My first suggestion would be to follow the video on the main post to reallocate Java. Then, I would suggest taht you install 64bit Java if you have a 64bit computer.
Try those and message back if it doesn't work. =)

I might have to look into modding in 256x256 tools, but keeping a low-res terrain for higher FPS
Anyway, yea the mipmapping is an unfortunate issue. Think it's related to my glass texture, or the mod itself?
For the time being the wolves are decent, but when I start fixing them up some more or even making HD ones I'd be delighted to join your server to exploit your wolves. =D

sorry to be a pain again :wink.gif:
but i would like to ask you something, there is a mod called RunBar (don't know if you know it?)
it adds a new bar over the armor to show stamina, could you make a high def version of the default one,
i could maybe do it myself, but the result wouldn't be as good!!
oh and thanks for doing a separate wildgrass .png for the modloader version, much appreciated!
That doesn't seem to be too much of a pain. What I'd do if I were you is just recolor the heart icons I have to the desired color. That's what I would have done anyways if I get the time. Cool mod, though.
Aw crap... I forgot to put in the separate .png's for the packs. Should I just include another download link or redo all of the links?
