It actually was with a fresh install from the site :\
unrelated to my buggy issues question: the first screenshot you have in your original post has some lovely lighting effects, may I ask what mod that is?
Hmmm... I'm fresh out of ideas then. =(
The main post pic was taken using the GLSL shaders mod with photoshopped in dynamic lighting.

Dear Scuttles,
Alright, in all, AWESOME MOD! I love it, and almost everything looks great. I have one graphic complaint, however. The fire does not look good. Especially compared to its surroundings. The water, lava, and all the textures look awesome, and then there is the fire...I am also not a big fan of the health (I edited that myself though).
I also have one question (I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and the 256x MOD):
I can run and install the mod just fine, but a few questions. After I have installed the mod, if I choose another texture pack, the game crashes...permanently. I have to delete the '.minecraft' folder and go to minecraft.net and re-download it.
And one other question, whenever I try to install the wild grass mod, do you have to install the modloader for that as well? I tried with and without it, the log said:
########## GL ERROR ##########
@ Pre render
1285: Out of memory
ever though i still have 800MB of DDR3 ram left.
There is also two 'minecraft.jar' files with the 1.4_01 update:
minecraft-1.4_01.jar
and
minecraft.jar
(I am pretty sute the 'minecraft.jar' file is the one that matter because that is the one the patcher modifies and the plain mod works fine.)
I tried putting the wild grass mod with and without the mod loader in each by itself and individually, but none of these combinations worked. I got it to work just fine without this mod, but not with this mod, and yes, I did not copy the 'terrain.png' file into either of the minecraft Javascript files.
Thanks for you help,
BetaRick
The fire is something I haven't been able to find a change without additional modding. Let me know if you find something I don't, though.
Choosing another pack of a different resolution would certainly do that. It also may vary which installation method you used to install the pack in the first place. I'd just try reinstalling if you wished to have a different pack installed. =/
As for the wildgrass mod, yes it requires the modloader now if I can recall correctly. He may have changed it back to the separate .pngs again, which is getting real tiresome...

Hey there! love the pack!
i have but one issue, a small one.
Stone and Cobble Stone icons in the inventory look almost the same, making it hard to see which it which when trying to fined them. other than that its a super awesome pack and love it at 256! :happy.gif: i also like the darker Dirt you posted a page or two back. Keep up the excellent work!
EDIT: forgot to add something
The animated water is SO COOL! also like how the lava has a heat effect.
I've attempted to make it distinguishable, but It seems I can't without drastically changing the texture itself. =/
Darker dirt will be in the next update then. ^^
Animated water/lava took quite some time to perfect. I'm glad you appreciate it.

Oh another note, I agree with previous posters the darker dirt looks much more natural, I like it.
I also disagree with a previous poster on his p.o.v. regarding your glass texture. I suppose a more gritty, dirty glass would better suit the "rugged" theme of the game, but I honestly *love* that your glass is crystal clear. It makes peering out the windows for zombies much better, and my building style tends to focus on more extravagant chateau-esque structures where flawless glass looks stupendous. I also like that with the dark borders, four glass blocks in a square make a lovely window shape.
One suggestion I do add, that again someone mentioned previously, is in regards to the mossy cobblestone. The default texture pack makes mossy and regular cobblestone look quite natural together, since one is the same skin of the other just with green markings. When making a cobblestone walkway with your texture pack, the mossy cobblestone doesn't quite fit with the "look" of the regular cobblestone and thus they don't look natural next to each other. A rather minor issue but just a suggestion :3
I hope I can figure out how to get the pack to work with my game again soon--I don't care to play it unless it's with your texture pack lol.
I'll try fiddling with some glass textures and see what I can do. I'll try to get the "best of both worlds", as they say.
The mossy cobblestone will be changed slightly in the next update as well as MANY refinements and alterations to the terrain.png. So hopefully that will resolve the blending issues.
I'm not sure why it isn't working. The HD patcher seems unstable at times. =/

to answer your question scuttles it may just have been my issue but the launcher i had i clicked on and it showed the main screen the launcher i have now has a screen where u login before i can get to the main screen(where multiplayer, singleplayer, etc show up) deleting the .minecraft folder and then downloading the minecraft.exe file from the website and doing a fresh install gave me this new launcher and i then proceeded to patch to your texture pack and am having zero issues.
Hope that clears up more and thanks for the awesome texture pack.
PyRo
Interesting, thanks for the heads up and clarification. =)

What seems to be happening is that java is STILL running out of memory.
I think it's not so much running out of memory as it is running out of addressing space due to memory fragmentation. I haven't seen my Minecraft go over 1.6 gigs of ram (using the 256x256 version), but it would crash after a few minutes of play until I switched to 64-bit Java.
Very well could be. 64bit java just seems to eliminate all issues with black screens. Would you suggest that he allocates his memory differently than in the video?
Quote from TheMysteriousMrD »
What do you think the least amount of RAM you need to run it like the video and what do you recommend for a 3.25GB
RAM?
I would recommend the 128x128 pack for 3.25GB of RAM, but it would be possible to run the 256x if you had a graphics card with decent VRAM.
Try both and see what you like. =)

can you make This texture pack to work whit Industrial craft cuz it looks kind of weird :biggrin.gif: thnx

I won't be making textures for any mods until I finish up everything I planned.

Scuttles, I love you for making the most beautiful texture pack. With the 3D effects, it is UNRECOGNIZABLE from the original game.
Having said that...
Scuttles, I hate you for making it impossible to play minecraft without your texture pack.
I love the diamond etc, I agree mossy cobblestone could use a rework and am looking forward to your future work. Keep up the amazing job!
Love hate relationship. =D
I'm hoping for a release this weekend. So stay posted.

0_0 im dont want only a glass in mi house the mobs give me fear can you make a texture withouth that mobs
English not your main language? From what I gathered, you want the mobs from the old Minecraft. To do that just delete the "mobs" folder inside the .zip you've downloaded.
Hey scuttles, I noticed a few of your wool colors have a lot of washed out pixels. Like in pink, there's a lot more white/near white pixels than in red or green. Pink is definitely the worst offender, and it makes creating an even specular map a lot harder. Even at high saturations, those pixels stay really really white, and it's tough to sponge in and localize that much saturation needed without it being noticeable. Any chance you could rectify this?

Will do. I'll try to saturate the colors to become less of a pain for you. =)

just do what I did..make the spec map for one of them that works best and use it for all of them.
and happy b-day Scuttles..you little attention *****...lol j/k

I run the 256x on my computer fine with 2GB of DDR3, but I guess that is because my card has 1GB of GDDR4 on it at 1600 Mhz.
Ah, I wish you a creeper-free Happy Birthday Scuttles!
Dufric88, how's the map progressing? Any idea on how long it will take?
Also, I wanted to add my vote to the redoing of stone/cobblestone in inventory, it can be a pain with my 10+ stone/cobble chests. I guess this might've been addressed, but my reading of the thread was hampered by "the nod" of 2am forum-crawling.
Oh, and special props on the water/lava... they deserve an award all on their own.
uggh..just saw the dev blog post... notch is adding in the piston mod...and weather..including lightening bolts... plus that achievement frame..next week he says... yay for more **** to texture.. at least you already have rain and snow >.>
hey scuttles
happy birthday!
it was mine yesterday (april 7th)
So here's a question:
I LOVE your textures, and have been working on some modifications of terrain.png.
I changed the diamond, the gold, redstone, glowstone, netherack.
I might change the iron and carbon.
are you interested in seeing the ones I am making?
I am making them mostly from pictures I find online

I'll see what I can do with the cobble/stone issue. I'm a huge fan of the current cobblestone and I won't be able to easily replace the stone since I overwrote my old .psd with all the layers making it easy to switch from texture to texture.
The water/lava is something I'm quite proud of. ^^

I'll get working on ideas for textures. Think I can just download the piston mod and make a texture for that, or will he use a different method?
Lol, rain/snow finished. XD

Hmm.. Sounds intriguing. I'd like to see them to see what you've been working on.
I love the cobblestone block textures (one of my fav's, esp. with dufric88's magic on it as shown on his video [of which I'd love to see more of, unless it takes away significant time away from the bump map itself]). The only issue is that they look so similar in my inventory, I have to mouse over for the text to figure out what it is for each stack. Not that big of a deal though.
Sorry to hear about the .psd... I did that once too on a project and have been quad-backing-up my stuff with email, external drive, main PC and laptop to prevent that. As they say, "never again!".
I love this pack and all but I must have done something wrong because my MINECRAFT doesn't work anymore... Which kinda sucks but i like the pack anyways.
This is definitely my fav 256 pack! and with wildgrass, well im just speechless. my only issue is the glass, its a bit too modern for my castles and other ancient stuff, perhaps if you can include an alt with some decorative iron grating of some sort that would be awesome.
and happy birthday!!!

our government could fix this whole mess if they just use the /give command...really.
I got to say this is the best texture pack I have tried, this one and the borderland packs are my favorite. And a little (not so little) request. I have been using your textures with a lot of mods and i´m using Industrial craft, Is it possible for you to make new textures for this mod?, the world i´m playing lose its awesomeness by the textures that come with Industrial Craft (most of the machines look like washmachines ) Or could you explain if there is a way i could make my own textures for it, im kind of proficient with photoshop.
How to you get the fluffy grass like in the pictures?
Read the whole post. You have to install the wild grass mod by ejhopkins but not eh terrain.png file in it, otherwise it will undo the terrain texture for this texture pack. Unfortunately, I do not think the current version on his thread of the wild grass mod is compatible with this texture pack :sad.gif:
