Now I don't know if this was intentional or not, but when I first updated, every time I'd turn a corner or get over a hill I'd have a heart attack believing that certain shrubs were creepers. I've gotten used to it, and it kinda seems like a funny/nice touch now, but still, can't unsee:
I don't even know if the shrub textures were changed, but I just started noticing this!
I tried patching the 64x64 version with McPatcher (I might need to update that, dunno) but when patching 2.7, it says the zip file is invalid or something along those lines. Currently am using 2.1 and is working.
???
For some reason, when I use Xau's patcher, for the 64x version, it says:
"The compression used in this .zip file is not supported. Please install the texture pack manually, or re-package it as a .jar or .rar file."
I've used Xau's before for a 32x pack, and it has always worked fine. This also happens with the 128x version for me.
I also can't open the texture pack file with 7zip.
Althought, I agree with some posts above, it looks more "Grainy". Even with MipMapping.
Don't know where it comes from, nor if it is a feature, but I don't like it that much. But the items are so nice that I updated right away ^^
Try anti-aliasing at 16x then tell me it's grainy. I also dare you to tell me ur still getting 60 solid frames =P

Actually I will, im at 16x MSAA and its still the same, as you can see in my screenshot. now with FSAA x2 THAT kills frames, but it cleans up the grainy, I don't understand that

Actually no, I can't really tell just from a screenshot that you have MSAA on =P Idk I don't really see the grainyness, or maybe it doesn't bother me, are you sure it's not an effect of one of the final.vsh files? Like, graininess.vsh or something like that...theres one that makes it all pixilated. All I know is that the MSAA definitely cuts out the swirling effect that mip-mapping is needed for (even though you need modloader to use it, which doesn't work with the current GLSL mod)
Don't use FSAA ever...ever.......ever. It's coded with the efficiency of O(n!^n)
That goes for ANYBODY reading this, don't be a hero with your SLI'd GTX590's; you'll just be embarrassed. I don't even think the guys at Pixar could run it without noticeable problems.
Well, I already have MSAA activated to x16, and yup, still "Grainy"... and yes, 60 FPS, it was already activated when I stated that... Fsaa makes me lag as hell, so I don't use it. And you're wrong, Modloader works with GLSL. Maybe not V5, but as many of my mods need V4, I'm still using V4, with GLSL shaders and no troubles.
You speak as if we were dumbass, you should stop that, especially when you're wrong.
We are at least two speaking of that "grainy" effect, and we just updated that texture pack. The first thing to investigate is the pack, not some ugly shader that no one uses...
Woahhhhh....totally uncalled for. Please reserve crass comments like that for places like youtube or 4chan. Nobody think's your a dumbass, especially not me. Maybe a little confrontational now, but I don't believe I ever talked down to you. I'm not one to take for granted the level of knowledge (or proficiency with English for that matter) possessed by any forum-goer.
And no, most V5 mods I've tried are not compatible with Dax's shader mod (optimine, mip-mapping...etc) it makes weird stuff happen. I'm glad you're able to get V4 mod-loader mods to work with the shader mod.
As for the grainy-ness maybe you could upload some HD video of your game, to compare with mine or somebody else to make sure we are talking about the same effect. It can be difficult to gauge grainyness just from screenshots alone sometimes.

Every time I try to extract the files in the 256X256 file it says that it is empty, is there any way to fix this? i tried downloading it again and it still failed...
Two out of three times I downloaded the pack the zip file was corrupted. (It didn't say corrupt, it said unexpected end of archive.) Which rendered the pack useless. I can only assume that the problem has to do with the download provider. Eventually I got everything up and running.

Just redownloaded each one a 5 times, and it worked fine each time.
The server is fine, all I can do is say it's user error.
What browser/download manager are you using?
I'm using Chrome 12.
Just checked the x256 link to test and I'm getting the same error. Browser is Firefox 4, no download managers. The x128 has downloaded flawlessly every time, so maybe a re-upload of the x256 would help?

What about the x64? And do you happen to have chrome or any other browser to test it out?
It may just be a firefox issue.
EDIT: Just tried on Firefox myself and it downloaded fine... :\

Internet Explorer worked fine, as well as Firefox upon another try. Maybe some timeout issues with users or their isps? Either way, the solution for the time being seems to be try again until it works.

Also, beautiful texture pack :biggrin.gif:.

Been a great update so far, thanks for the time and effort Scuttles. :smile.gif:
