the issue with ATI cards is unless you have a fairly up to date HD card they do not support GLSL/openGL at all without the cheater nvidia fix. and even still the newer ones dont always render shaders correctly. learned that from my recent attempts at shading my pack. tested it out on an nvidia card and it was fine...on my ati hd5870...screwed off like crazy.. and my card has opengl support
I'm using the x256 pack and I'm experiencing a crash. When installing the pack I'm using the most up-to-date HD patcher, and the current release of photo realism. I have all options selected when patching. I've also deleted my meta-inf folder. Besides this, I've also changed the parameters for java as listed in the OP. I'm not using any other mods.
Everything loads fine, and looks amazing! Sadly, I can only play about 5 minutes before the screen goes black.
My computer is more than capable of running this pack. When checking system resources I'm only using around 800MB of my available 12GB. Any idea what may be amiss?
Ok, wow i run a 64bit OS and since i DL the 64bit java, then reinstalled minecraft downloaded everything again to make it nice and clean.. it runs better then ever! it feels faster :biggrin.gif: Cheers guys for everyone!!

If you have a 64bit system, I'd try to install 64bit Java. I had that exact same problem for a while until I installed the 64bit Java. Also try updating your Java version because it sounds like an issue with that instead of being the pack/patcher.

Sounds like common issue when trying to patch over a previously patched game. I'd try a fresh install of MC (Deleting bin folder) and try it again. If it was a fresh install, I'd have to say somewhere along the lines of the HD patcher went wrong. I've never seen that error. =\

Alteast you can get your mipmapping working on the higher resolution. My laptop which I use 95% of the time doesn't work, but my main computer runs it fine with 100-300 fps. It even spikes up to 500-900 in the cave systems. I had to cap the hell out of my FPS

Lol, I didn't mean you HAVE to make it. I just thought the new water was 4x better than the old water. I know what you mean with the WTF moments. Much of this pack was results of such moments. Great work on the shaders, though. My driver has 1 more update before newest and I think I'll try that and see if it works.
I'll update to the new water since I was gonna release yours with my update with shaders.. I don't think I'll ever top your water... I guaranteed the update by tomorrow so I'll get crackin' on the new shaders.. give you something to play around with (and probably make better! lol) once I do get this update out I'm gonna take a little break from my pack so I can play around with your 256x.. and most likely make my own shaders for it :tongue.gif:

your drivers arent up to date
or one of the texture files is the wrong size
1281 is a pretty specific error
Edit: could also result from not setting the texture size correctly in mcpatcher
