Im Sorry, But we're almost at 1100 posts, So Im going to post again after this!
Good job, Love it, And now for FPS marriages, You have an x64! :biggrin.gif:
:SSSS:weet! Yea I've been dying to get involved in the community other than running a server, and I can see this pack is really worth the time. Since I'm short on funds, I'm glad to donate my services.
You can also reach me at-
email: [email protected]
skype: dufric88
Others if necessary.
Hopefully we'll talk soon. Can't wait to see this project bump mapped!
Me either and I'm glad you're willing to donate your time and effort. =)
For now... We can keep drooling at this image back when it almost was working for me. (Speculars came off as pure white regardless of how dark they were)
If I were to turn around the entire game would have been a pure white mess.

Still using the 256 pack, still loving it! Keep up the great work!
Then I shall listen and do so.

I love the loads of the textures in the 256x pack. I have one question thuogh, did you upscale any items with a smoothing resize? I think it was your pack that i saw some blurred images on and that is caused by upscaling a lower quality graphics with in bilinear or soemthing. you need to use nearest neighbour for a pixel by pixel enlargement. (i think, might be the wrong way round).
also, those annoying little lines you find around on random items is usually a little stray pixel on the terrain.png or items.png file, sometimes caused by what was explained above. it can be a pain in the **** trying to check you've not got any on a 256x pack. haha!
The only images I upscaled using a smooth resize (Bicubic) were the items from the 128x128 to the 256x256. Initially I thought I would be done with the items.png by now, but this is obviously a daunting task working with so many pixels that the slightest graphical error is extremely obvious. I would have to agree with you on the nearest neighbor being the best method for enlarging on this specific layout of textures.
The little lines were generally from erasing improperly or misaligned items which overlap into the second area. Now, with downscaling the terrain.png, nearest neighbor actually looked heavily pixelated and quite ugly, but if I were to use the bicubic downscale, everything was blurring leaking into each image beside it. That's why I went with the bilinear because it retained quality without leaking/blurring.
But yea, finding any loose ends on a 256x pack is a REAL pan in the ass. =(
Sorry for the wall of writing. I tend to ramble on subjects I love, lol
The wood tools texture looks amazing ! I want to see in-game how good they look. I have very good fps with this texture pack (x256) like 100~(+) fps on normal fog (with some nice mods) but i found wildgrass and my fps dropped to 20-10 . Lol . Guess i'm trying another day to give up on x256 and try 128x with wildgrass (cause wildgrass makes minecraft better). But it's way to much with the x256 texture for NOW . xD
P.S:i would really help you with this texture pack but i have 0 knowledge !! xD
Already have and it spikes my fps down to 0-1. =(
It worked before the new update just fine and even increased fps, but I can't use old versions on the server.

Wild grass really is amazing and I wish it didn't consume so much fps. I noticed he put out an official release which I'll download for this new update.
Now that my priorities are fairly straightforward I don't need much help at the moment. Thanks for the ambition, though.
Although... I really do like screenshots. =D

Good god! What are you specs again? Although that sounds a lot less like crappy hardware and more like "mods hate your graphics card." Idk I used to be all about ATI when I first started building PCs but I just got disenchanted with their hardware over time. I figured I had nothing to lose and hadn't heard to much bad stuff about Nvidia. Never looked back. But that's a different story. I love love love mip-mapping, I actually get headaches after playing for too long without it =\ It really does help alot with your texture pack. I'll post some pics at some point.

THIS. DO WANT.
I had to take a cold shower after seeing that. So obviously you're on the right track, that white mess you mentioned might be a result of the graphics card again. Do you have the most recent maps, however rough, for me to play around with? No rush, I have to back up my current MC files and find a 1.2 download so I can use the GSLS mod again. Unless Dax updates it today O.O
My character automatically opens doors without me commanding him to. For some odd reason, it only does this while using this texture pack. (I also use Gerudoku's)
I don't remember this happening the last time I used this pack. (Pre 3.1 updates...) Was this an addition to the pack? Some sort of mod? It's weird. Kind of annoying too.
Also, whenever I walk to my bed, my character automatically tries to get in over and over. No commands or anything.
Any clues? Or is this intentional - in which case I'm slower than even I thought.

Personally I would try a clean reinstall of all ur Minecraft files. No mods or anything, make sure you aren't getting the bug then. Really test it out for at least a few hours with vanilla textures (i know its hard), because you may have an intermittent issue. Textures in Minecraft are one of the few components that aren't really tied up in Notch's spiderweb of a design so they don't usually cause gameplay issues; usually just low fps, crashing, not loading.

Yeah, my specs are more than capable of handling it because I generally get 40-50 fps while testing the 256. It may spike down to 20-30 while rendering distant massive mountains, but that's about it. I'd have to agree with the hardware incompatibility with the mod. ATI has a knack for doing that, though, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Yea, prehistoric screenshots from the old 128x128 bumpmapping. =D
Unfortunately I'll need to retexture many things for the normal mapping due to the new textures in the terrain.png and all of the touch-ups I had done.

This does sound like you've messed up somewhere or a mod is not compatible with the pack. I'd do a reinstall and get back to us on how that went.
Edit:
I've ran into a bit of a snag and I'm not quite sure what to do with the stone tools. My sources of images to base these off on are very few and vague. =\
This is the direction I'm going with the weapons atleast. I may change the iron/diamond swords to something more like a knight's sword.

If you ask me, and you didn't, the more 'fantasy' the better. It seems that there should be more of a distinction between Iron and Diamond considering the contrast in availability in the game. But I'm sure Iron wielders wouldn't mind a sweet looking Iron one, too. I'm a stone user myself most of the time (ultra conservationist) so the better you make that one the happier I would be.. although I understand I'm the exception to that particular usage.
I do like the image someone posted earlier in this thread of the dual-bladed sword. Maybe that's a bit over-the-top or WoW-like but I like it. I think it would be cool to craft a sword of higher value using more rare items if it produced something with a broadsword and/or dual-bladed fantasy look. The idea of smacking down zombies with something like that makes me smile.

Me 2 ..exception XD. I mean the wooden sword looks x2 better than the stone one .I'm just saying ..the stone one looks a bit "ugly" . And yeah something like a distinction between iron and diamond.
P.S: i like the ideea of the stone sword but it's a little bit too prehistorical (?) . But i'm not saying that i dislike it !!! I like it xD ( a bit too much contradiction again? mhm)

Not happening to me, I don't think a texture pack is capable of doing that.
Thanks for the critique everyone. As far as the stone tools go, I'm fairly impressed as to my progress. The weapons in the other hand need work. I think I'll just use the hilt of the wooden sword and give it a stone blade. The gold weapons I was thinking about making into something "Elvish" for a good LotR feel. =D
Ignore the diamond sword, btw. I just didn't want a blank sword when I was on my server. :sleep.gif:
my water doesn't animate, well the running water does, but lakes and oceans don't at all, i've followed the instructions to a tee, any explanation to this?

What version are you running and when using the hd patcher did you check "Animated water" and "Animated lava"?
