Kudos for this pack. 's in fact. My friend is trying his hand at his own 256 and is seeing just how difficult it really is. My fav is definitely how well the water till's... seamless :ohmy.gif: Of course the trouble with making minecraft look so gorgeous is that the psychotic desire for customization through tweaking and modding is incurable once you start. Or maybe that's the fun.
In either case, I was wondering how much trouble it would be to create an accompanying normalmap, heightmap, and specular map for use with Bump Mapping and other shaders. http://daxnitro.wikia.com/wiki/Bump_Mapping_(Shaders) Daxnitro's GLSL mod really has me thinking that I could be playing a watered down Crysis if used in conjunction with this pack. Is this a possibility? And if you didn't have the time for it, would you accept help in doing so?
ok...so I got the tracks to match up...but ran into a wierd bug...when the corner is going one way it matches, but going the other it is comletely off... doesnt make any sense.. any idea on how to fix it?
Sorry for the lack of presence in this thread today. I was with a friend. =)

gonna try the 256 version, probably gonna crash D: since im already starting to lag with the 128 version
I wouldn't try the 256x256 if you're already lagging on the 128. XD
The textures are literally 4 times larger in size and takes a huge amount of memory to run. Best of luck to you.

Quoting is fixed, and the mods are working on white-listing all the image sites people use, like tinypic and stuff.
Thank you for the info. I'm sick of that ***** ass hacker trying to steal accounts. -_-'

High resolution packs require a tremendous amount of work to actually become "good". I've spent countless hours taking chunks from photographs and turning it into a seamless texture that looks great in Minecraft.
Anyway, making a normal and specular map is alot more work than it sounds. I have some pieces completed as shown in previous pages, but due to the incompatibility of my ATI card, I cannnot finish any sort of specular lighting and everything has kind of gone downhill from there.

Your pack is awesome Thank You!
I have some questions:
Is there some thread dealing with the way to improve graphics to the maximum? (with mods like wild grass, better grass and the missing glsl for example)
Scuttles, will you add some modifications in order to be able to use the grass fix in the risugami's modloader?
Could you make the ore textures look like these? http://i.imgur.com/8ez3Q.jpg (I find these awesome)
I don't like much the gold, iron and diamond block texture, but these are quite uncommon.
Anyway I have to thank you for your awesome work, you're one of the guy who makes minecraft more A W E S O M E
I'd like to thank you for the restone wire that look really great like this also. Making the clay red is also a pretty smart idea!
I have not heard of such a thread that combines all of those mods to get a maximum effect, but it does sound helpful.
I've been playing with the grassfix with modloader and I can't get it to blend quite right. This is fairly frustrating, but I certainly won't give up.
Thanks for the compliments and as answered in the previous quote. I'm trying to get those GLSL shaders working.

The "straight" tracks might have to be set onto a specific path. I'd try mimicking the vanilla textures and work from there.

Where is the 64 bit version, where is the HD texture fix, and my Minecract keeps CRASHING. I even increased the values in Java as you stated.
The game will crash without the hd texture fix and is probably why it's happening. The patcher is located in the middle of the thread; Xau's patcher.

Thanks for making the 64x64 options.
I'm assuming you want opinions/bug reports so here 'goes.
Animated water and lava don't look right:
-Bad Pics-
(Not so obvious, but the edges are mis-aligned).
But here's some praise!
-Good Pics-
The lava is something I don't think I'll be able to fix anytime soon without completely making a new texture. It's a consequence of making the lava from scratch (Yes that was made from a pure white canvas)
Water is an obvious mistake that I overlooked while testing the world. I apologize to everyone for my mistake. =(
Thanks for the great pics. The 64x64 is really looking great after all. It may have some promise and I'll keep supporting it with updates. =D
is it possible to have 1048x1048 textures??
I have been thinking about that, or even 512x512....
If so, how can I do this? I started making textures in those sizes, it keeps so much detail

Yes and no.
For Minecraft a texture over 256 would involve the terrain.png to be over 4.2k pixels each way which is currently impossible to run on any graphics card within our price range. So in that instance, a 512 or 1048 is simply not possible.
Now, if a mod was created that allowed custom .png's for each individual texture to be placed onto the blocks, then yes it would be possible, but extremely taxing on the memory.
You also have to keep in mind that the 256x256 textures are exactly 256 times larger than vanilla, 512 would be 1048 times larger and 1048 would be 4192 times larger. There is just a point where Minecraft is simply not worth it
Ahhrm. That's 1024x1024 packs, which are 4096x larger than vanilla.
Edit: And by the way, 128's and 256's are really the reasonable maximum simply because there's a limit to your computer's display resolution.

So I saw since I posted, I just ran into a few posts you made about the bump mapping and was just about to edit my post. I may be able to help you yet though.
I have a compatible and capable video card, GTX470, (checked it out already). If you are willing, we could try a continuing exchange of files (partially completed maps --> screenshots/videos). I have access to my computer 24/7, and check the forums pretty frequently. Additionally I have taken a few classes in Photoshop at my university, so I may be able to lend some aid there if you get stuck. I'm very available and ambitious but it's really up you.

That is actually some very superb news. =)
For now, I'll finish up my checklist of fixes and plans, then I'll get right back on to the mapping now that it may look promising afterall.
Thank you for the offer. It's good to see some dedicated fans willing to make this project one step closer to perfection.
Edit:
The wood tools are pretty much finished. Here's a sneak peak of what to expect in the next update. Also, I'll be updating the 128x128 tomorrow because it must have slipped my mind yesterday. =\
:SSSS:weet! Yea I've been dying to get involved in the community other than running a server, and I can see this pack is really worth the time. Since I'm short on funds, I'm glad to donate my services.

Hopefully we'll talk soon. Can't wait to see this project bump mapped!

Haha, I knew something didn't quite add up. XD
Edit:
Fixed the water issue in the 64x64 pack. I'll update it pretty soon.
And another random screenshot from my new server world. =)
Sorry I was AFK, Traveling.
I will get back to you when I test it ;D
I need all the testing I can get at this point. I'm working diligently on making really nice items for the next updates. =)
So far the wooden tools are really all I have finished, but they aren't generic copy paste tools from google which I'm quite proud of. ^^
But there was a minimum of copypasta. You must be starving. =(
