I'm a big fan of this texture pack. It seems like most Minecraft texture packs take a 'stylized' approach to the game, and while I can see somebody appreciating them for their uniqueness, this texture pack elicits wonder to levels I haven't had before while in-game. It might be argued that realism is dry and boring, but in Minecraft's case, where the universe is 'marred' with unusual creatures and different realms, I tend to think realism is the best option of all for textures. To lure the player into believing the world more and more (at least, as much as you can for a cube-based world lol) is amazing by itself, but then when moments that we willingly make jarringly unrealistic (hostile mobs, the nether, floating islands) happen, the discrepancy enhances the reaction. And I think seeing majestic creations in-game (that are only on the limits of possibility in real life) while wearing realism-tinted glasses invokes a greater sense of wonder and beauty.
Sorry if that first paragraph seems out of place, I think I have a penchant to argue for realism in games lol; and while nobody has brought it up from what I've seen, I just wanted to mix it in while I complimented this texture pack.
Anyway, I'm glad you're still on the scene for this texture pack, Scuttles. It seems like you might be discontinuing it after a while though. I hope I'm reading into it wrong, but I can understand getting out of the loop of Minecraft especially with the work it takes to update the packs. lol
Some flowers. Luckily I have quite an archive of flower photos. Some of them will not be the exact plant, but will be close.
Love the texture pack for the most part, glad to see that you'll be able to update it soon. Since you're working on the flowers, was wondering if you'll be tweaking the existing yellow ones? It's one of the few textures that I dislike about the pack. A nice little dandelion would be nicer than what, to me, looks like ragweed. Make me want to sneeze every time I see one, lol.
The new textures are looking nice so far. The pink flowers are looking pretty. Imagine the whole field filled with them. How are the hardened clay textures going?

I really like the daisies and shrubs.
Do you plan to add more green or dark brown to podzol?
Nothing is 100% complete as of yet so everything is subject to change. The Podzol was darkened since that picture to blend in better. I wanted to keep it a dead-like grass with leaves present. I also have a fallen pine needle on grass texture that I might test out a bit. It makes more sense to fit the biome, but it may not be appealing with foliage upon it.
That looks amazing Scuttles! Cant wait for you to release the texture pack...this might sound weird but I find yours in the only one I can play MC with as all the other texture packs have something I dont like about them but yours is great.
I appreciate you're patience and I hope this update exceeds your expectations.

Yellow foliage has already been changed. I'll post a screenshot tonight or possibly tomorrow morning. I intended it to initially be a "wild" plant and I never quite liked the random tulips and other flowers people we're using.

I'm glad you're liking it so far. I haven't worked on the clay as of yet. I'm thinking it won't take too long as I have a few textures that I'm using for it.
Hey Scuttles,
Love the pack as everyone else on here. Have tried a dozen others and nothing compares. Take your time as it is definately worth it (cant play anyways since the new update...none of the servers i play are up, and no optifine either...ugg) . Probably been asked before and it is probably somethig I can change myself but have you ever looked at changing the font? In 256 i find i really have to get close to the signs and they are hard to read. Or maybe its the texture of the sign iteself? Any thoughts/suggestions?

We'll it's good I'm not the only one holding you back. ;D
I'm also waiting for Optifine... Can't seem to live without it anymore, haha.
The font was an absolute pain to get it that far. I'd hate to work on it further, in all honesty. What seems to be difficult to read when approaching signs? The size of the font or the color differentiation? I can easily modify the sign texture.
sorry i dont mean the edhes to be completely transparant only a little bit so u got white edges where i can see trough a little bit like the default stained glass edges
and nice that u send the glass textures but i did not build anything with stained glass yet but i will build something tomorow i gonna trie a church because it gots stained glass in real too
Sounds good. I'm taking a break from the foliage (It's extremely long work to extract them from pictures sometimes) so I'll get to the stained glass textures real soon.

Yeah; I imagine podzol as a forest floor with very busy layers of dead brush, dirt, and patches of weeds. Unfortunately, because of the variance in this one block, it's probably very hard to be detailed with the contrasts without sacrificing how much the landscape will look like a grid. I appreciate Podzol a lot though in general; it's nice to see some 'earth-y' block that can be placed next to grass without being converted.

I'll chime in here because I also find it difficult to read, it's more the color differentiation I think, I ended up swapping the sign texture out for one in another texture pack (MojoKraft, as I recall) that has a "dirty white" background with a wood colored border. The font just isn't dark/bold enough to show up well on the current texture.

Yes, that sounds about right. I find it hard to explain to be honest. Maybe a combo of the sign color and the size or thickness of the writing? I looked at swapping the sign/font with ChromaHills or Misa as they are very easy to read but didnt match the tone? I know...sounding like a total Fish out of the water....I have had a couple friends make the same comment. Will see if I can get them to explain better.
And the hay bales are looking more yellow. I removed the twine bundle from the side texture as I'm still working on that. and it didn't look quite right.
Always have loved this texture pack, always will. Thanks for the continued support on it as well Scuttles, it does mean alot to me to have minecraft look this good.
Working on the lilacs (my personal favorite) and the stained glass today. We'll see how much I can get done.
Edit:
Not sure I'm a fan of how the Lilacs turned out. It's a bit difficult to make it bushy with such a narrow template of 1x2 to work with. I'm going to certainly make some tweaks.
Really love the foliage so far. Looks fantastic! Your foliage is always on a completely different level than other packs. While your working on the textures though, do you think you could change the sides of grass blocks a bit? Since the grass texture dips down towards the middle, its looks kinda strange when they're next to each other and kind of ruins the tiling. If you made the grass line flat-across like on the old grass texture or stock I think it would look much better, but thats just my opinion, I don't know if anyone else feels the same.
I rarely post to forums, but I had to make a comment on how much your texture pack has really enriched the game for me.
I just had a couple comments on all of the new flowers.
I actually own a nursery and I am familiar with all of these flowers, but in their native forms they tend to have a lot less flowers. Most of the new textures you are creating seem to resemble cultivated varieties with intense flowering as opposed to the more subtle coloring you see in nature. I would suggest on the lilac for instance, that you use more foliage and have maybe just three or four flowers on the entire plant. I think this would give the new flowers a more "realistic" feel.
Please don't be offended at my comments. Everyone has differing opinions, and I may be in the minority on what I prefer to see. If you like the suggestions and there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
I'm also going to make a monetary donation either way to help support this project. I suggest others do the same. If everyone that uses the texture pack gave only $5.00, I'm sure that would be a great help.

+1 I think having a fewer flowers on the plants would be good as you dont tend to see so many in nature.
I love LOVE this texture pack! The tulips look lovely, I'm super hyped for the flowers <3. When I first downloaded this texture pack I was bummed because I couldn't use the best of the best of it. But now since my fiance built his massive power house desktop I can! I can't wait to see what other textures you make :D! This is by far my favorite texture pack of all time !!

It's awesome that you own a nursery. =)
I think you may be right with the flower/plant ratio. I'll try to tweak it and give it less flowers overall. One of my main issues I'm having is that nearly all the lilac bushed from around here are far wider than they are tall. It looks strange to make it narrow and tall due to MC limitations.
I like the tulips where they stand as I actually intended them to have a greater yield of flowers. I wanted a field of tulips.

I tried having a flatter texture before, but it just didn't feel organic. Ideally, I would have liked to have added random generation to nearly all the blocks so that I could create alternates and it would feel so much more realistic and natural.
