I know others have said this, but is there a place other than here to suggest a photo realism/ tekkit crossover? If it were created it would be way more popular than bdcraft. However I do understand that something like that would take forever to make.
Would it be possible for you to do tekkit textures? I have heard texture makers decline to do it because of two reasons mostly. One being that it is very disorganized and hard to texture, the other having to do with the legality of the pack.
in principle the good idea to do to me is pleasant to play it with tekkit and lb photo realism теберь these things will be compatible.
Hey Scuttles, Sonic's working on RCv5, a preview for version 10 that adds reflective surfaces. How the surfaces reflective depends on terrain_s.png. Here's the demo video.
I'm not sure I'm able modify terrain_s.png like I did with terrain.png to work with water.
This is Sonic's facebook post about terrain_s.png.
Some people are asking how reflections are controlled with my reflections shader. Here's the rundown..
Dry specularity is defined separately from wet specularity. Texture artists can control how shiny something is when dry separately from how shiny it is when wet. These things are defined in terrain_s.png in the root directory of the current texture pack.
The green channel is used to define how reflective the texture should be when wet. For example, certain porous materials would absorb water and not reflect as much as smooth ones. A texture artist could decide to not let wool get reflective when wet.
The red channel is used to define how reflective the texture should be when dry, or at all times. For example, if your have a wooden door with a metal frame or handle, you could make the wood matte and metal 100% reflective. This effect can be seen in the video I just posted.
The two channels are added together. That is, wet specularity is added on top of dry specularity. As far as I know, there isn't really any material that gets less reflective as it gets wetter.
The blue channel is used for a metallic reflection effect. Mostly to mimic the way that gold bars reflect light IRL. The metallic reflections work like so: the diffuse color of the texture filters the color of the reflections. If you had an entirely red block with full metallic reflections, the reflections that occurred on that block would be fully red and not let any blue or green light through.
Plans for the future? Having separate water droplet overlay texture for high gloss surfaces that tend to be waterproof (leaves, melons, grass, flowers, etc). It's entirely possible but that will definitely wait for v11.
You can even make reflective metals. This is great mod to achieve maximum realism.

And this just makes it more depressing that I can't run these shaders to test and play with them. '
Haven't checked in a couple months, but the compatibility issues ruined everything the last time.
Looks fantastic, though. I'd love to get all up in that. XD

You can't run it at all? You don't need playable fps to test them. I can test them for you if you want. I can run up to 512x with Sonic smoothly.
This texture pack really is the answer for anyone who complains about the lo-fi look (which I personally like) of Minecraft. You're doing a great job, keep up the good work.
Can't download, no matter how many times I go the ad-fly page, it just says "Please Wait..." and does nothing. I just waiting for about 30 seconds, nothing. I've tried all the links but I always get the same result.

I'm actually have an ATI compatibility issue that won't render the height maps at all and the specular lighting is outrageously bright or just makes everything white. =(
is that minecraft?
because that looks like an image from another game.
i mean its the same quality of other games with good graphics.
with this minecraft will be great too bad i cant run sonic ethers the shaders dont work for me the only thing what happens is that at day everything will be very bright and if i look to the sun it will be big and at night all light will be very bright too but no shadows ot other things (the new water effect worked too)
I agree, but I can see aspects that seem like it's still Minecraft. The shaders mod does push this game beyond what anyone was expecting.

What browser are you using and what resolution of the pack are you trying to download? I can just post up a mediafire link for you.

What ATI card do you have? Sonic is using Radeon 7770. Do you turn on custom colors? That fixes bright lighting because it is not using lightmaps. About the height maps, do you edit gbuffers_terrain.fsh to work with 32x or higher?
Bty Sonic just released RC5 v10 which includes the SEUS patch texture pack that have terrain_s.png. You can use it as an example.

Sonic said he'll make some tutorial videos of how to edit the texture pack to work with Sonic shaders.
One last thing. You forgot to add emerald block next to diamond block. All the chest textures on terrain.png should be removed. They are not needed.

I'm using an ATI Radeon 4560, I believe. It's quite an old card for my laptop that only has 512mb VRAM. I may have to give the mod another try sometime next week. I'm quite swamped working on textures for another game due to procrastination. XD
Ah, I totally forgot about that. @[email protected]
Adding that emerald soon.
Could you please make the glass and glass panes look not so invisible? I feel like I could walk right through it if I didn't know it was there....
Or, could tell me how to? I really don't like it.
But other than great texture pack! using the x256 version right now and I love it!

At least you don't get blue screen. I wouldn't try running 256x with Sonic on 512MB Vram. 512x standalone uses 1.2GB Vram and with sonic mod, it uses 1.8 GB Vram.

I did mention Scuttles about invisible glass problem on connected textures. The good solution would be adding transparent smears on the glass or fake transparent light reflection.

I love that screenshot. I can't wait to see what Realism texture pack look like with that effect.

That screenshot is freaking amazing...
Scuttles probably can't run sonic shader's because he has an intel. I know thats why they wont work for me >_<
I began minecraft ~July 7 2011 1.7.3 Beta
My username used to be Creative_Dalek but is now Dalek since 2/4/2015
He doesn't have dedicated GPU? That sucks.

Gah. I didn't save it as a .png it seems. =(
I'll get up on that and post it as an individual download. I REALLY don't want to make people to download a 100+mb file because of my mistake.
