All "realism packs" this whole forum uses textures from cgtextures. You cant paint textures they should look realistic and you cant photograph every texture by your own (this have severral reasons).
You an use this textures license free, btw.
Using textures from "google" is not correct cuz you need the license for every pic :wink.gif:
I hate to tell you but not a single texture of my pack is from there.
I have made every single texture of mine, by hand or by my own photographs

If you actually believe every single realistic texture is made from Google images or things from cgtextures, you are very mistaken.
So what? It still looks awesome xD And I don't think scuttles is copying everything from somewhere else. Even if he did, well, that won't stop me using the pack.
And that's my point. People don't even realize there are other photorealism packs, that were made without using other peoples' work.
I think It take much skill to make own textures but I takes some more skill to let them look good in minecraft (thats is very rare in this case xD). But I think it is better to use professional photographs and made them ready for minecrfat and let them looking nice in minecraft(not only using filters) instead making all textures on your one and it looks bad in minecraft.
I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to say here... are you saying my textures look bad in minecraft just because I'm "not a professional" ?
If so, I'll have you know that I minored in art and photography :tongue.gif:
But I think you are jealous cuz your packs stand in the big shadow of this and you invested (much)time.
And when you are disapointed of this pack dont write in this post cuz you simulate being a friend of scuttles but ride such things in his post.
BTW what you are doing on cgtextures and you must had looked many section of it to say thats many textures are similar :wink.gif:
I am a friend to Scuttles, however, I was always under the impression that it was his own work, not someone elses'. :/
As far as being on cgtextures, one of the other admins of the union pointed out an HD pack that he believed was stolen images from google, so I began googling and found the site. The first thing I noticed was the cactus, and I thought, wow, that's a coincidence, but to be sure I'll check for some other things. Sure enough, I found a lot of the textures used in this pack on there.
I'm not jealous, but I do feel disgruntled that I have put forth so much effort but because of this pack's popularity, as you said, mine is in its shadow.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. 90% of my texture pack is created from scratch or uses photographs. I searched that website and could not find anything that remotely looks like any of my textures. =S
I do find it rather insulting that you think I've spent hundreds of hours copy and pasting things from a website to make this pack.

Anyways, after finally resolving an error that kept my Minecraft from updating, I finally got to play 1.0 now and realized that the swamps are still pitch black. Any new ideas on how to change that?

I haven't had a chance to view a swamp myself, but I'm not very sure of your issue. As Blizzard had suggested, it may be hardcoded and hopefully will be fixed soon.
Has anyone here who uses the 128 pack had a problem with the chest texture? I installed the pack (which I love) and everything looks wonderful except the chests which look blurry and very low detail. I checked the terrain file and it doesnt seem to be related to that. I tried destroying the chests I had and remaking them and it was still the same. Its very weird and looks most strange when everything else in the scene is perfectly textured and the chests are totally out of place.
Any ideas what the problem is?
I do believe that is because I forgot to insert the new chest textures into the x128 and below. I have fixed it and it will be in the next update.
Before I sign off, I'd like to say to drfrozenfire that its a shame people have to spend their time criticizing other people's efforts. Everyone has their own working method which is what gives us the great variations available to us. If you choose to make all of your textures yourself thats wonderful and I applaud your effort but if someone else chooses to make use of what is actually INTENDED to be a resource for this kind of work...and produces something which is clearly very good and very popular, its unfair as well as unkind to criticize them for it.
I do not wish to have a flame war in my thread towards DrFrozenFire. I'm sure he has justified reasons for his accusations.

Reason for one missed is that some object have some white spots around them, but I am truly impressed. excellent quality!

Okay, so I know people have been saying this is already updated to 1.0.0 but I wanted to point out to the creator that a few textures seem to be missing. I dunno if it's because he hasn't actually gotten to it yet and people just assume he has or it's because they got missed/futzed, but I'll list what I've noticed.
-Dragon Egg doesn't appear at all. I've tried both by going to The End and looking on top of the little shrine spawned when you kill the Enderdragon and through inventory editing mods/software. Specifically INVedit, Too Many Items, and more recently through Server /give and/item commands.
-Glistering Melon doesn't appear at all. Tried both through creation and editors.
-Regular Potions (the ones that look just like glass bottles) have no color and appear to have no liquid inside of them at all. They also have weird gray dots on the right edge in the inventory.
-Splash Potions appear exactly like they do in the Default texture pack in the inventory, but when holding them they disappear.
-Eye of Ender has strange cyan dots all around it at random. (Inventory)
I hope this has been helpful feedback, everything else in your texture pack is completely wonderful.
And one last thing (please don't kill me) is that I was wondering if you were planning on continuing your RPG pack. Just curious more than anything else.

Well, considering a grand total of 0% of ANY of my packs are from either of those sources, I'd have to disagree with you.
It takes skill to MAKE a texture, it takes NO skill to use a filter on someone else's work and call it your own.

Also, there are others that tile much better.

I use Photoshop CS5 that I got at a nice deal from college.
I use a bilinear filter to retain the detail as much as possible without blur or harsh contrast of the preserve edge filter.

How can I fix that? Flames in my grass?xD
