The compresses version is not 1.8 compatible. Mediafire link is compatible.
Let me begin by apologizing DEEPLY for this post, which I'm sure for many of you is incredibly redundant. I've spent a bit of time trying to find the answer on my own but keep failing.
I haven't updated minecraft for a good while now - i've been on another project. The last time I loaded a texture pack we were still loading the .class files directly into the .jar!!!
I've read the very simple instructions on the first page: run HDpatch, place Texture pack into texture pack folder, and play.
I get nothing.
The texture pack downloads to my mac as a folder rather than a .zip. I've placed into the Texture Pack Folder as is and got nothing; I've compressed the whole thing into a .zip and got close but nothing. It at least shows up as an option once I've logged into Minecraft Client but it doesn't work.
So, although I know it's ridiculous that the game and this pack has been around for so long and people like me STILL can't figure out simple proceedures, I'm asking for help.

If it shows up in Minecraft as an option, select it (give it a few seconds to load) then enter a game. The reason for this tip is: If you have downloaded the RPG Realism Pack rather than the Photo Realism, it doesn't yet have its own menu-bars or buttons so you wouldn't actually see that it's working until you entered a game.
At least that's the best tip I can give you, I don't know anything about macs though, so it could be a problem with that as well :tongue.gif:
Thanks for the tip but that doesn't work either.
I've used this texture pack before and I LOVE IT. It's easily my favorite. I stopped using others a long time ago. (No offense, you "others") I'm kinda confused as to why it isn't working. I feel like I'm missing some basic, obvious thing that I just can't see.
I've downloaded both packs: Photo & RPG both x256. Both folders download as a folder and not a compressed file. Inside these folders are the usual subfolders (GUI, MOB, etc.) along with .png files also. I don't see anything in the way of .class files but I don't know that I'm supposed to. (As in the case of mods, where there are usually ONLY .class files that must be moved to the .bin)
I've run and re-run the patcher. And I've checked to make sure it's the latest patcher update. (Beta)
Having run the patcher I tried placing the texture pack AS IS into the .minecraft/texturepack folder as instructed. That didn't work. I tried again but this time I compressed the entire folder into a .zip. When I did this, the texture pack appeared as a playable option inside the Mincraft Client. I can click it and choose it, but nothing happens. No change at all. I even waited several minutes and started a new world just to make sure. Still nada.
I have no other mods installed.
What I may do is start over with a new everything. A new .jar, a new patcher, and a new pack. I recall the very first time I ever downloaded a texture pack that there was some significance in the ORDER of download. Such as you must download the pack FISRT, and then download the patcher SECOND and if you don't do the right order then nothing will work. That may be it. I'll let you know.
In the meantimes, please help me if you know with the issue is. Thanks for the tips.
Could you possibly make textures for the Premium Wood Mod, when you have time and if you're willing to do it of course. If not that fine. Just wondering, because I hate having 16x16 wood with your awesome 256x256 pack. :smile.gif:
well, i've tried everything that i can think of and i've read nearly this entire thread without finding anything to fix my situation.
This pack has worked great for me in the past. I think the last time I used it was before 1.7, though. Maybe it just wont work now... which gives me a sad... :sad.gif:
Having followed the intructions verbatim, I'm not sure what anyone could add, but for what it's worth, I'm still looking for a reason that this pack isn't working with my minecraft. Any help? Scuttles? This thread, in comparison with others, is usually VERY good about helping folks even if they're new. So I'm hoping none of that has changed.
I'm sorry guys, but can anyone tell me about GLSL on 1.9 pre4? It is possible to make it work?
sorry for my english.
As far as I know, the GLSL shaders have not, and will not, be updated for 1.8 or 1.9 pre releases. Once 1.9 proper is out, they will be updated, but not before hand. Though, someone may make an unofficial version for the 1.9 pre releases.
And don't worry, your English is fine.
Any idea approximately when you will be adding the Brewing Stand and Enchanting Table textures for the 64x64? They are both invisible to me, that's about the only problem I have so far.
so let me understand something..maybe i'm noob and i'm not doing something right .so my sys:amd x3 450 3.2ghz , ati rasdeon 5570 1gb , 4gb ram and 256x256 is laggy , but the last game appeared works in very high resolution smoothly so my question , why is laggy?i did the stuff with java memory still nothing..:|
Probably best not to use a 256x256 with only 4gb of RAM, I know a guy who uses the 256x with 6gb RAM allocated and he gets just above 100 FPS, so yeah.
Otherwise look into the optifine mod or SpoutCraft.

4GB RAM is more than enough to run 256x. Hell, it can run 512x.

It should be downloading as a zip file, I'm assuming your comp is unzipping it by itself, so go to your username in finder and open up the downloads folder, then check to see if the zipped version is in there. IF that doesn't work, it also sounds like you're zipping the whole texture pack folder when trying to zip it yourself, which wont work. You have to open the folder and zip the contents of it, so open it and select all of the files inside of the folder and THEN compress them. Drag the new zip folder out and place it in the texture pack folder. Then use the HD patcher and that should work, i hope this helps, gl!

I've played this 256 pack with 3GB of RAM with over 150 FPS. You need a good combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM, mostly GPU, to have a great experience.
