That picture is not greyed out. The RPG Realism Pack doesn't yet have its own picture so Minecraft assigns a default one to it and that is unfortunately grey. Just click it and give it a few seconds to load. The pack doesn't have its own menu buttons either, so you'll only notice the difference once you actually load a game.
@Scuttles: That was the third time (as far as I have counted) that someone complained about the pack being "greyed out"... How about adding a picture and/or menu buttons in the next version? For starters you could copy them from the Photo Realism Pack until you get around to making some.
just to clarify i was trying to use the Photo Realism Pack not the RPG Realism Pack, i gave what you said a try but it does not seem to be working.
the X32 works perfectly fine but not the X256
upon closer inspection it would seem that the zip i had was somehow corrupt. I will redownload the X256 when the link starts working again i am also having issues with mediafire
I think the download links for LB RPG 512 and LB Photo 256 are broken. It takes me to the mediafire link but once you click the download link, it redirects to a "the connection has been reset" page. The other resolutions are downloading fine, without any problem.
I have some problems going on and im not sure if this is normal or not, but all the 1.8 items are the defaults such as the enderpearls and zombie meat. It really bugs me, A LOT. Anyone else wiht the issue?
I cannot get to the mediafire link for photorealism x256 on Google Chrome. It keeps saying that it could not connect. Also, when it finished downloading and I went to open it, WinRAR said unexpected end of archive, which technically means nothing's there. I need help here.

I need help! When I try this pack without using mc patcher it works perfect and i see the water,fire,portal and lava effects on the stone.Then I use the MC patcher and it closes the game or says "Out of memory".I have tried all the java thingys and didn't worked for me :S

The new texture for opening chests is located in another folder (terrain.png chest texture isn't used anymore) and seems not to have been implemented in this texture pack yet.
He obviously hasnt finished them if it goes to default. Its like lb rpg all tools are default since he hasnt finished them.
I cant get this to work properly. Everytime I use the patcher, after I patch, I cant launch the game anymore. It just gives me an error and says you fail.
I have an odd issue with this texture pack.
I can't get the 256x256 one to activate at all (even after HD Patching) and the 128x128 one does odd things. I get a little tiny nether portal and two little tiny fires in the upper right corner of the texture.
It's really bugging me, as the 64x64 (at 16x16 and 32x32 there's no visual difference between cobblestone and smooth stone) and lower aren't sufficient for me to want to switch, but I can't use the two larger rez versions. :\

With optifine and water shader together, I can run 512x without getting lag spikes and freezes. Lag spikes and freezes have been bothering me enough to use 256x. Now I can run 512x smoothly even I use AA from water shader. AA removes graininess from textures better than optifine's mipmapping and it runs better. Plus optifine makes MC use less memory. Try it out if you use water shader mod.

You're not supposed to patch your jar. Optifine also allow HD textures to work.
What I mean is: I download Optifine. I follow instructions for installing Optifine (involves putting new class files into the minecraft.jar file). Minecraf fails and gives blackscreen.

I am a little bummed that 1.8 doesn't work well with 512x packs anymore. In 1.7, I could run the 512x pack usually with 150+ FPS or so, though now it takes forever to load, and when I do get into a game, I get a constant 0-1 FPS, though with a 256x or anything lowers, I get 200+. It seems MC Patcher and Optifine need to rework the HD Textures for it to work properly, unless this is just me... hmm =/

Read the readme for how to use it.

You're not supposed to patch your jar. Optifine also allow HD textures to work.
