The only good way to play the x512 is to use the .bat file. It automatically allocates memory for you as well.
Hey, i don't know if it is already up somewhere, but if it isn't can you make a download for the "28 Days Later" Textures? Thanks.
Hmmm... I really should do that, lol
It's by no means a texture pack as everything looks broken in a Minecraft world, but certainly has some usable textures for mix and matching.
The feature is called "Mipmapping" and it's not a problem with this texture pack, it's just that Mipmapping hasn't been integrated into Minecraft. I doubt it ever will be unless Mojang changes their mind about the native HD Texture Pack support, because on lower resolution texture packs, Mipmapping is not really needed. Also, Minecraft is still in Beta stage, which means that not all the features have been added yet, so maybe it will be integrated at a later time, who knows... :tongue.gif:
Until then, I highly recommend Optifine, a mod which really improves the look and feel of Minecraft. The only problem is that, being a really powerful mod, Optifine always takes quite some time to be updated to the latest version, especially after a huge feature patch like 1.8. So just be patient until it is updated and give it a try, it'll be worth it.
Actually i just finished some more testing and you are right. Its OptiFine's mipmapping feature that fixes it.
But I would argue that even the default textures badly need it... after taking a good solid look at it.
Screenshots:
MC 1.7.3, Default Textures, OptiFine 1.7.3 with max mipmapping
MC 1.8.1, Default Textures, *no mods or patches at all*
Any way... Guess for now I'll continue on with MC 1.7.1 till the new OptiFine comes out. Disregard my earlier inquiry.
First of all, I love this pack, its beautiful! And I know im only using one of the basic parts of it because MCPatcher kills my Minecraft (black screen when starting the game, happens as soon as I run MCPatcher even with no mods).
I can use this texture pack with base Minecraft, except that all water and lava are invisible. I have heard that MCPatcher is required for custom water and lava - is there a relatively easy way to use the default lava and water but use this pack for everything else?
I just read that with 1.9 the grass color in swamps will appear darker.
Sad news for you, then. It is hardcoded. It doesn't even pull from the grasscolor or foliage.
In fact, it has its own two blocks on the terrain.png
I made mine a starcraft creep-like substance for my synthetic reality.
Also, the reason I came to this thread:
Scuttles, old bean!
I am slowly whittling away at your textures and most of my pack is mine! Save for mobs...and other things.
But I finally got to working on the items.png!!!
You should check it out, I just put out a huge update for my Synthetic Reality pack.
I'm having this issue as well, with the x16 and x32 packs. Haven't tried the larger ones.
It only occurs from one particular side of the foliage. From one direction it looks normal and great, and from the other side it gets the weird white see-through artifacting. Also happens to ladders.
When the screen dims to show a menu, like by pressing escape for the main menu or pressing E to bring up inventory, the artifacting goes away entirely and looks normal. As soon as the menu closes, however, the effect pops back in.

I just read that with 1.9 the grass color in swamps will appear darker. I saw some screenshots of the default textures which made me scream in anger: On my server I built my house in a swamp because I really loved the rich green grass that came with the 1.8 version of your texture pack and now it's going to be changed to this murky color *shudder*
The foliagecolor.png or the grasscolor.png in the "misc" folder of your texture pack affect the color of the grass for the different biomes, don't they? Do you plan to implement the color change of 1.9? If so, could you perhaps explain to me how I have to edit these files to retain the color the swamp-grass has now? I'm no noob when it comes to editing pictures (in fact I'm actually using a custom-made version of your texture pack with a few selfmade changes), I just don't know how Minecraft picks the colors from them.
I stumbled upon this lovely "swamp" myself. I will be fixing that in the next update, not to worry. It will be plenty green and lush. ;D

Nice!
I shall give it a whirl. :wink.gif:
Also, how is that collab pack going with the union? I would really like to try/critique.
yes, the rpg pack and the 256 pack are not downloading. when you click the download button from mediafire. it just says cannot display webpage. i can download others fine but i have a fast machine and i WANT THESE TWO.
oh, i thought the X256 did not work since it says right next to it that its not 1.8 compatible or is that only the compressed one? also when i try to use the X256 its just greyed out in the texture pack list. tho i am using optifine it says it adds HD texture support but maybe not to X256?
I will look into this. I was very sloppy with those tools and I'm sure I can easily fix it.

Thanks. I really appreciate the support. =)

The water shader mod has anti-aliasing which is same as mip-mapping.
AA is rendering the scene in a higher resolution then downsampling each frame. Mip mapping has to do with texture filtering / processing.

AA does removes the graininess same thing as level 2 mipmapping.
Even if the result is similar, the two processes are entirely different.
