I have allocated as much memory as I dare (3GB out of 4GB, on Win7 64Bit) to Java using the link on the first post but I still run out of Memory when I try using the 512 pack... do I have to stick with 256 or is there any other solution to the problem? Besides buying more RAM?
What method are you using to allocate more memory?
As I said, the method linked in the first post: in the control panel -> java I set the runtime parameters "-Xincgc -Xmx3072M"
@scuttles: I have read somewhere that 2 of the textures between the cracking animation and the lava are supposed to be NPC-Village-borders but that they are unlikely to be used...
As for the spongy looking thing, I'm not quite sure but I think you're right with your assumption of the inside of a mushroom stalk. On the screenshots of 1.8 they are as big as trees, so it would be natural for them to have a texture for that, isn't it?
Lastly, with the vines I'm pretty sure you're right: Vines on MinecraftWiki
But I also read that pumpkins and/or melons are going to grow on stems now, so maybe that's the stems as well as the vines?
Have you tried using the .bat file right below the x512 download? That may help you more than allocating.
Thanks for the help mate. I do believe you are right with the stems. The pictures on that link show the watermelon having that texture popping out of the dirt.
We'll good to know that the texture may not be used. I'll leave it as a default placeholder for the time being and focus on some more important areas.
Ok, I wanted to use the 512 version but every time I add it in I get Java ran out of memory. I have Windows7(64bit)... I made sure I was running JDK7 and I set the runtime parameters "-Xincgc -Xmx3072M". I also downloaded the .bat file and put it in ".../bin/natives" I still get the out of memory error immediately after clicking to run the texture pack.
I have a 2nd gen i7 quad 2.8 with 8 gigs of ddr3... please help, I love the 256 version I run that has no lag at all.

You put the bat file at the desktop and run it. Don't use the exe launcher anymore.

I tried that but when I click to start it a window opens and closes in less than a sec with a black background... if I click it fast enough lol it says "Error: Could not load main class net.minecraft.LauncherFrame"

Is there a launcher.exe in the desktop? You need both bat and launcher at the same location.
I use toomanyitems and zombe, I also use MCpatcher to patch.
Maybe trying patching the jar again or use optifine?
Hey Scuttles, I have been using 512x with water shader since I got little bored with bumpmapping 256x. The textures never look so detailed. The anti-aliasing from water shader works great on removing graininess so far, but it's quite laggy for me. I get like 30-50 fps with dips to 20s from it. AA pushes GPU1 usage to near 100% :ohmy.gif:, but my GPU2 remains 0% :\. When I turned off AA, my fps improved from 30-50 to 70-100. I really see it dip under 60. My GPU usage ranges from 50-60%, but the horrible graininess is back :sad.gif:. I wish MC uses SLI or crossfire, so 512x packs can run better.
The 512 has a grey picture (or rather none at all, so Minecraft assigns this grey picture by default), that doesn't mean it's "greyed out". Just click it and give it a few seconds to load. Also, if you're running the default Textures you won't notice any differences until you actually load a game since the 512 doesn't have its own UI yet.
Yay, it seems to work (however extremely laggy). I was a little confused when it was gray and when enabling it would kick back to the default game UI. Thanks for the help Estelyen and IronWill1991! Now if only I could find a way to reduce the lag Im having with it...
Im trying to install the 256, I used the patcher, and minecraft loads up but it loads up and everything is black and white with no textures. I get this message repeating itself:

I have a Radeon 5770 video card overclocked, so i'm not sure if that's my problem... Anyone got any advice?

Look on the bright side, he could've used rapidshare. I don't mind mediafire.
This is the best texture pack out there. You did a amazing job, I use a 32x with OptiFine and everything looks amazing :biggrin.gif: Thank you so much for making this texture pack. I just love real textures
Also, Could you edit the paintings to look real life to?
So I decided to scrap my vine textures as they just didn't look right to me. I'll try to get those finished before the actual release as it's pretty much all I have left on the terrain to do still.
I will be sure to fully test the textures before releasing it. I hate having small glitches and I have to re-upload and change everything. >.<
Oh, and someone wanted to see what the stone bricks looked like. I really don't want to release too much, but here is the texture. :wink.gif: http://i.imgur.com/BFG9bh.jpg
Edit:
Damn it... Missed one. What is between the hatch and the tilled soil? Pipes???
What method are you using to allocate more memory?
In the "mushroom" area of the 1.8 terrain, what is the spongy looking object? Is that the center of the mushroom similar to cutting a tree?
Also, if those aren't vines next to the mushroom, I'll be pissed. I spent too much time on those. xD
Last question for now. What is right between the cracking animation and the lava? I think one of them is the critical hit texture...
So many things I want to get done, but I'm taking far too much time on each texture.

Well my game started, but the texture pack is grayed out and wont load... the default and 256 are colored...
Are you using any mods? Are you using optifine or MCpatcher to patch your jar?

By the way, it looks GREAT.

Now, for some reason it lags like crazy.
Not sure what happened to it (My computer) in the last couple of months

Ah, thanks. =)
Any news on the release date yet? I'm getting a little anxious to try out some textures.
