I still don't understand why this thread is so popular [Don't get me wrong, Scuttles, you know I love your packs]. Even more confusing is why people make it seem like the LB pack is the only high-definition pack around. There are alternatives, people! :tongue.gif:
Try a few to see if you really like this the best. Maybe you will, maybe you won't.
Aegeon has some HD packs, there is Minecraft Enhanced, The Psience Pack, and my pack [that I know of].
Speaking of my pack:
For having the first pack available in all resolutions from 16x-256x, I thought more people would flock to my pack. On my texture pack's thread I have a survey, and the results of that survey show that my pack is better liked by a majority of minecrafters that have viewed it [I am not trying to brag or anything like that]; however, my pack has only something like 4 pages of posts. If you wish to try an alternative HD realism pack compiled from actual photos I have taken, give it a go, and let me know what you think! I am hoping to figure out why my pack has remained unsuccessful while this one has 100+ new posts a day if people really like it as much as they say they do. The link is in my signature, please, let me know what works and what doesn't, and what you like better about other packs. I can never get better at making these textures if I don't have any constructive criticism. :smile.gif:
Also, I am currently working on a secret project pack that includes mods and texturing, and some incredible new depth to minecraft. There is still a lot to be done, but when I get enough together for a beta, I will make sure to post a thread to recruit some beta testers! :tongue.gif:
To scuttles: A toast to your pack's success :smile.gif:
i LOVE this HD 512x pack! its a shame i need OptiFine to run it though... otherwise i get 2 FPS. i say it's a shame because i would love to test out my gaming rig by having GLSL Shaders installed.
still, one day there will be a patch for them, or Mojang will add HD support, if we keep on at them enough!
after looking closely at the sand texture in Paint.NET, i realised it looks hyper realistic, just that it doesn't in-game, for some silly reason. i think it's because we are used to bright yellow or extremely bright crème coloured minecraft sand.
just a question, how big will this pack be when it's finished, because im scared it will break the 200 MB mark...
It shouldn't reach 200mb, but it will reach over 100mb. I may force myself to compress the x512 pack EVERY update just to make it a reasonable size.
The sand is quite high quality, but I think the mipmapping with optifine really kills it beyond a few blocks because it has such a subtle detail to them.
You'll get there someday. I have no idea how I did. XD

Oh, The size is fine for me, As it takes less than a minute to download. :biggrin.gif:
I'm thinking notch should add a dream realm, that you can visit for like 5 minutes if you sleep.. :biggrin.gif:
And if you die in the dream realm..
Well, as Peter griffin once said..

Any one else notice something that is wrong with that statement in the LB RPG Changelog? I do.
Scuttles, wow. This pack has come such a long way since I first commented on it (was dorianGREY back then) Congratulations on becoming so popular and improving the textures so much. Have a
To anyone interested. I will be adding the fire texture from LB RPG to the Realism pack as I'm quite satisfied with it. I will also be redoing the GUI so I will see what I can do about the Realism pack's GUI as well. It should be a fun day. =)

A dreamworld actually sounds pretty cool. I think he could replace being mugged my monsters when trying to sleep and replace it with nightmares that monsters try to attack you.
A peaceful dream has minerals/caves for you to explore and quickly amass as many as you can in the time limit.

Thank you. It really means a lot.
What happened to your other account? I remember the avatar with a severed body.
Thank you. I'm hoping to have the terrain done real soon. It's coming along quite nicely so far.
I'm not sure how to fix the conflicts between the two mods. I'm very rough with working with Java.
True, If I knew more about java and how the mods worked I'd give my coding a test XD
Maybe in the future Optifine will have better support for other mods...

I'll one day learn, but I'm far too lazy/busy these day, lol
This new "rule" the admins are trying to force upon us is really pissing me off. I need some critique of the direction I intend on going with the GUI
Yeah, But you could always try to get ideas from RPG Games/RPG Packs on Minecraft. Just remember, Don't take the whole thing - Try to mix it up.
The RPG Realism is heavily influenced by Oblivion so I'm getting many of the ideas from there. My whole goal of the x512 pack is to replicate the oblivion world the best I can. Wildgrass mod will really shine in this aspect.
I love this texture pack, but I just can't get Wildgrass to work. Sorry for being noobish. Here are the things I have tried:
1. Install Modloader with Mod Tools v2.2
2. Install Optifine with Mod Tools v2.2
3. Drag & Drop x256 wildgrass FOLDER into minecraft.jar
4. Drop Photorealism texture pack into texturepack folder (also tried putting it into minecraft.jar)
Nope
1. Install Modloader with Mod Tools v2.2
2. Install Optifine with Mod Tools v2.2
3. Install the ORIGINAL wildgrass, in the modloader folder (also tried the modloader_terrain folder) My reasoning was that I needed the classes that came with the original, since there are none in the "photorealism compatible" one.
4. Install the Photorealism wildgrass x256
5. Drop Photorealism texture pack into texturepack folder (also tried putting it into minecraft.jar)
Nope, this also caused some fatal errors, so that's not the way, obviously.
I can get it to work easily with no texture pack, but when I add the texture pack into the mix, everything goes wrong.
Am I missing some instructions? I can't find them anywhere. I've read your entire original post, and the texture pack post on PlanetMinecraft. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, so I came here to ask for help.
Also, I require Optifine, since not using it's features causes your texture pack to become grainy beyond belief. (Which I know is not your fault.)
Thanks for your time,
Braddertt

Unfortunately, I believe Optifine is incompatible with wildgrass. =(

The date of the latest update is wrong. Nothing big, someone always feels some weird need to point out these things.
True. :biggrin.gif:
This is the... 3rd thing I've corrected Scuttles on... Ever :biggrin.gif:
Scuttles: How's about instead of a picture on a forum you actually give me real currency!?

I think it really has potential.

Thanks. ^^
Lol, I have so many diamonds, though. =D
I remember you making fun of Chang because he had the ambition to post a log of updates. =S

I really like Misa's. I wish no sadness upon her pack.

This new "rule" the admins are trying to force upon us is really pissing me off. I need some critique of the direction I intend on going with the GUI
What rule is this?
And the GUI looks good so far, maybe a darker color and have the edges of the inventory boxes a little more clearly defined?
Link to rules here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum-41/announcement-45-section-specific-rules-read-this-first-12th-august-2011/
There is also a protest thread floating around that's got quite a bit of attention. I saw 4 admins and 4 mods viewing it at one point.
I'll work on redoing the GUI. I'll admit, the LB Realism GUI was one of the weak points.
Yeah, But you could always try to get ideas from RPG Games/RPG Packs on Minecraft. Just remember, Don't take the whole thing - Try to mix it up.
heres the protest thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/543239-protest-against-new-license-policy/
94% vote to change it lol. he also has some good points.
Yea, and that's exactly what's happening right now over there.
Lol, thanks Aageon. I'm just trying to keep up with your work. =)
