Can anyone help me with getting the x512 pack working? I got the out of memory error like so many others, so I decided to give Optifog + Optimine a shot...downloaded it and copied/replaced the files into minecraft.jar, then tried running minecraft and it freezes at a black screen after login. Tried the multithread version also, with the same result. On a side note, the RPG x256 pack nearly worked for me, except for mysteriously invisible grass blocks and grass side blocks O.o
Oops, knew I was missing something haha

Big news dew to the major growing population of user Minecraft they decided to add there game to xbox, knowing that they will probably use high res. packages in the making and distribution of to factory. I would try mentioning your name and LB Photo Realism to the company. They could always use better graphics specially with your great quality.
Give it a shot
Thanks. I sent him an email. I doubt he'll read it, but who knows. =)
I tried out the new RPG pack on 128 resolution and here's my thoughts:
Stuff I like:
1. the grass - nice texture less grainy than the normal pack. Also I love the yellowish bit on the side of the blocks (not sure why) it just really seems to work.
2. Dirt - again nice texture with a bit more depth to it than before with the little stones in it.
3. Stone, Cobble & Gravel - much smoother the blocks flow into each other very nicely making the whole thing less 'blocky' (I know some like the blocky look but my personal preference is for smoother textures)
4. the ores - I like the change in pattern and the way that pattern fills much more of the block than on the other pack; works especially well (in my opinion) on the gold and iron ores.
Stuff I don't like as much:
1. items made of wood (planks, fences, chests etc.) - I like the actual design but some of the depth seems to of been lost and the colour seems rather washed out
2. Diamond ore - the pattern seems rather unnatural and a bit too similar to the crystal that you get out afterwards
3. diamond block - again bit washed out and lacking in depth & colour
4. (last one) sand - it looks a bit too grey and 'solid' - I don't quite know how to explain it but long and short it looks more like something you would mine with a pick and not a shovel
Overall though the pack looks very promising and I eagerly await its completion :smile.gif:
Thank you for the constructive criticism. =)
I'll try to better myself in the lacking areas. Indeed it is quite the promising pack and the closer I get to completion, the happier I am.
Huh? My monitor is 2048x1152, the Minecraft window I took it in was maximized. How could you forget the monitor resolution of your best bud, Skuttles? Isn't that important to you? Lol :biggrin.gif:
By the way, I would be happy to test anything else you're working on.
My bad. XD
I'll be sure to stalk you some more so I can know you better.
Right now the testing group is full. I made sure to have diverse members instead of all beast computers.
I wouldn't. It's far too much work to be honest, considering that notch already has his Sky dimension, and it's just too much for a mod that not everyone uses. I can't wait to see what you come up with when 1.8 is finally out though! Don't take too long :3
VERY good point. =)
I may wait a bit to see what Notch has up his sleeve with taht sky dimension.
I know it's not a mod that everyone uses, but there are a HUGE amount of people that use it. It's a matter of will they run it with my packs or not, lol
MC is compatible with Java 7. It is running fine with me.
Yeah but I'm finding when I run the minecraft launcher it won't connect to minecraft.net. Then I have to play offline which runs like a dream.
Is it the MC patcher that fixes this or does the MC patcher make sure that the game doesn't crash when it runs? I guess I'm trying to figure out the role of MC patcher.
I'd like to play Minecraft with LB's texture pack and Java 7 x64 while still connecting to minecraft.net, it only stops connecting when I use java 7 (64bit). With java 6 update 26 (32 bit) it connects but unfortunately crashes when running LB's pack due to the obvious RAM limitations of 32bit java.

Did you check if Windows firewall or any 3rd party software blocked Java? It happened to me once by accident.

You should be able to run it

You sure you have Allocated enough Memory to the game? I allocate 3GB, And it runs fine.
Or get 64 bit Java.
EDIT----
Sorry I haven't been posting much, recently - Scuttles, I've been learning Direct3D :/
Pretty Interesting stuff, I hope to become a game dev when I get old enough :biggrin.gif:

I'm doing this in C++, Now that language is new... But pretty simple in a way.
Look at what I need to do for a 2d triangle (Not importing meshing D:)
CUSTOMVERTEX vertices[] =

Wow I figured out my problem with the 512 pack. If I run it now, I get like 2-4 fps. If I turn all the animations off (like water, fire, torches, etc.) I get an absurdly high fps, like 220 (this is with everything else set as high as possible, included view distance.) The game runs smooth as butter. Of course this is not an ideal solution, but very interesting...

Yea, it's quite impressive how significant the animations are. I may create x512 textures for the RPG pack to see how far we can stress this game because it's impossible to play.
I just saw a texture pack where the grass on the side of dirt block covers nearly 75% of the height. I think this has a good render and was a good way to solve the side grass problem (some people use better grass to have some grassy hills).
Have you tried it? (for now grass covers half of the block, which is also nice but I wonder if you have tried more)
I have tried it, but the fans didn't really like the idea. For now, I'll have to pass on it and keep it as is.
Hey Scuttles, big fan of both packs now that RPG has been released. My few critiques are that, all in all, its still pretty similar to LB Photo. IM guessing that this will be fixed later on? Maybe go a bit more...hmm....distant from LBPR and make LBRPG a more unique pack? Maybe some warmer wood instead of the grayed, faded out thats in current, cobble brick instead of the usualy rocks (this is just more of a pet peeve of mine, as i hate the cobble thats a bunch of jambled rocks ) And the stone, maybe a bit smoother, not necessarily grayed out either. Maybe add decorations to the halfblocks instead of just plain stone? a bit more creative and the rest im pretty sure you dont need me telling you how to make your pack, so ill just leave it at that before i start sound obnoxious

i tried allocating 3GB and i could try allocating 4GB, although if I watch in the task manager it reaches approximately 1.5GB before giving the out of memory error. and i have 64 bit java, although i did just install java 7 so I'll try it again and see how it goes.
and about the other problem i was having with the disappearing grass blocks, its mysteriously started working >.> so Scuttles I think the new pack is great, and I like the new styles for the wood and cobblestone, although the wood color does seem washed out a bit (as was mentioned previously) and I feel that the cobblestone would look nicer if it was a darker shade of grey. Other than that its great!
Update: java 7 seems to have helped, since it no longer crashes at a black screen with optifog+optimine, yet it still throws the out of memory error after taking up near 1.7GB. This is with 3GB allocated, with 4GB it performs worse and halts right at 1GB
I downloaded the x128 file and when i used it it gives me a white box instead of my tools and other items that arent blocks. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you allocating that to the launcher or the actual .jar in the /bin folder? I find when I do that, It works better :/
No complaints - just compliments as usual for your great texture pack!
Once ity, bity wish: Would you, could you create some textures for the Multi-Use Doors mod? It's got some fantastic aesthetic potential when I imagine the textures you would put to it. Not to mention all it's functionality. Just a wish!!!

I'd say it's reaching about 30% completion right now and I'm being quite generous. LB Photo Realism took months to complete.

Now minecraft don't even work sigh, stick with the 32 version is my suggestion.
Or is my Dell computer to crappy to use this texture pack?

He never said that :/
He's just dedicating his time to the RPG Pack for now.
I will be updating the LB pack because it's not completely finished either. =)
As Pazaz said, I'm focusing most of my time on getting the RPG pack out of the beta stages.
It's most certainly playable. Just allocate enough memory to Java and you're good to go.
Also make sure you have 64bit Java for your system

I went into the java control panel and allocated more. Slightly noobish question, but how do you allocate more memory to just the .jar file? >.>

D
You could make a .bat (Batch file, CMD File, Runs in prompt/executes command)
And allocate more that way :/
