Ive had nothing but problems with amd drivers. Well the CCC at least is the shoddiest piece of crapware Ive ever used. Cant even click the apply button because it just flashes the entire time on both of my pcs.
Nvidia's software is so much more streamlined and thanks to a universal driver architecture, all their hardware since like the RivaTNT is compatible with their latest drivers. (Although they disable older ones for some reason, you can just edit them back in the .ini and it'll work fine)
Anyway, what was this thread about again? Oh yeah, Optifine haha.
Edit: and the CCC process uses 1-5% of my cpu at all times for no reason.
yea amd drivers suck. i would get a nvidia card next time just for the drivers.
haha /endrant

My computer can only barely handle the x256, and I ended up just using the x128 anyways. I look forward to having a computer that could handle that high of a reso.
I don't run out of memory, And I've got 4GB... Probably because I allocated 3GB + My processor is <3
As I stated before, 25FPS foward, 60FPS Up (Directions)
BUT, The 512x doesn't display the water for me o.o

As i said i have a laptop so i didn't expect it to work but it wad worth a shot.
I tried use the 512x texture pack, and it crashes on startup due to out of memory..
I've followed all of the steps on the 1st page on solving the issue, and still it doesn't work..
I run it on a PC that has 4GB of RAM, and 1GB of graphics card (NVidia Geforce 9800GT), and a Quad Core processor..
So, does anyone suffer the same, but on a high-end system??
Thanks in advance..
I have 4gb of RAM, but my Minecraft gives me out of memory error with only the 128x pack. I tried the thing at the top of the post for allocating memory to Java, then I go here to see how much memory my Java is using: http://www.duckware.com/support/javahelp.html
It says I'm using 244mb. Before, I had problems with my runtime parameters previously, every time I set them and came back they were gone, but now that's working. I put "-Xincgc -Xmx2048M" like it said to do and it's enabled, but it just won't run any HD packs without running out of memory. I started it up once with 128x and it worked for a while, but when I restarted Minecraft it ran out of memory again.
I don't understand why it's not giving me any more than 244mb to Java when I set it for 2gb.
Alright so nvm, without 128x pack it works, but I would still like my memory problem fixed since it won't allocate more than 244mb to Java no matter what I do.
I've used the 64bit and most recent Java's version, but still I get the out of memory error..
I got 4GB of RAM btw.. :sad.gif:
Are you sure you got 64bit java?
Thing is, if you just merely 'install' button on java website, regardless of your windows version, it will download Java 32bit because the browser itself is 32bit, and I heard default download is set for 32bit. You have to manually choose 64bit here.

the flash kills the cards ram over time. and no amd drivers are terrible. reinstalled windows twice for them...

For both of these issues the problem lies between the keyboard and the chair.
AMD drivers triumph over NVIDIA.
I've NEVER experienced this.
Nor this
