Loved the GLSL shaders shown in the first post - I hope there will be full support for bump and spec mapping once the shader mod is fixed (dax stated it will be when the mod API comes out)
The x16 pack looks great! Some things don't look recognizable though. One of them looks a bit like a grave stone. The trees look nice though :smile.gif: Will try some of the higher res packs once I install Optimine!
Yea, the x16 and x32 are simple downscales of the x256. In due time I will go over them and make them look better by hand.
Greetings. I have been loving this texture pack for some time now. However, I did my update to 1.7 tonight, and installed the latest version for 256, but now I have a problem with one specific grass height with the wild grass mod. Previously I could mess around with each grass height when it was spilt out of terrain.png, but given my lack of experience with editing it, I don't want to mess things up.
Anyways, as you can see with the below image, I get crossed lines at the top of the grass height image, but again only on this one specific grass height. All the others are fine, and the rest of the textures seem fine.
Any ideas?

btw...love the new glowstone!
EDIT: Nevermind. I reloaded with the version that doesn't use the terrain.png and we're back in business. Thanks again for a great texture pack! Carry on...
Hmmm... It looks like I placed the textures a bit too low so the bottom sticks out the top of the other. I shall fix that soon. =)
Some investigation needs to be done as to why the Test function of Mcpatcher is almost guaranteed to work but using the same allocation settings on the standalone version gives out of memory errors. Plus s to whoever can figure it out.
That's very peculiar. I'll try to look into the matter.
Hmm I remember when I could run x128 with acceptable frame rates (~30-40fps). But now even with Optimine installed, my fps is around 1 or 2, never any higher. I still haven't tried increasing java's heap size. Do you think memory is the problem? Because task manager is reporting javaw.exe is using over 900MB already.
I would try increasing the heap size and see if that helps. Also if you have a 64bit computer, 64bit Java is a MUST.
i really want to use this texture pack, but some items are not correctly viewed
the texture pack only works for me when i start minecraft with the mcpatcher via the "test minecraft" button!
otherwise, MC looks like this:
-image-
i have re- installed minecraft (didnt forget to delete the bin folder...), re installed java jdk 7 32 and 64 bit, but i have the same problem.
plz help :sad.gif:
There shouldn't be a reason for that if you have 64bit Java installed. It won't do anything if you don't have a 64bit computer so just uninstall it if that's the case.
Anyway, it looks like you're running out of memory. I'd try the link at the top of the first page and see if that helps.
I loved older stone texture. I see you made the alternate terrain.png of it, I'm so glad you did :smile.gif:
Why did I like the older stone texture? Even if the new one is more realistic, I sometimes barely differ it from cobblestone!
Anyway, for further updates, to don't make you update this "old stone" terrain.png every time I made PNG's to self-impement older stone and ores textures to texture pack's terrain.png, so every texture pack user can put it by himself by a program like GIMP.
This way of implementing older textures can further improve modifying your texture pack by its users, to make it look like they want, like older dirt, or another things!
Hope it helps!
I shall check it out. Thank you. =)
Edit:
Ah, I see what you mean. I may add things like that under the alternatives for the more "editor inclined" folk.
You make me laugh....
*looks at top of page*
wait WHAT!
Edit: oops, I downloaded the x256 pack and when i loaded my world...
"Minecraft has run out of memory"
Lol, I'm slowly losing my mind. I can't stop staring at those damn clouds now.
Yea, the x256 does take quite a bit of memory. xD
I'd either try allocating more memory to Java with the link at the top of the first page or try a lower resolution.

Speaking of large amounts of memory, I saw that someone is working on a 512x pack. I think that means you are now obligated to release one :tongue.gif:
This is a really breathtaking texture pack, it's definitely what I'm going to be using from now on. The only issue is that the texture for pistons doesn't seem to show up right. I was playing around with them yesterday and the texture looked like blades of grass rather than a piston. I'm using the default for now, but I hope this is fixed soon, because I really love the pack otherwise.
Hey on the 128x and 256x compressed for me it shows tools as whiteblock :sad.gif: and it loads blocks well
is it my patcher's prob?
or the texture pack?
Make a 512 or 1024! I would love you forever, this has been my favorite Texture Pack forever because of the 'realism' but if it were to be MORE REAL then I would just die.
Also: What is the difference between compressed and non? I've downloaded both and can't seem to tell them apart...

I like the old stone texture too. But I don't think the new one is more real because of the black smears. The old one does actually look like a stone came straight from the mountain.
Scuttles, I tried increasing my heap size to 1.5GB (I have 2GB RAM) but the issue persists. Not only that, I'm getting the white box problem which I didn't have before.
Any idea why anything above 64 resolution gives me horrendously choppy lag? My FPS will maintain above 50 but it just chops like crazy. My PCs a beast and I followed all the instructions.

It's probably because you don't have the 1.5GB to allocate...

Yeah... I have a NASA computer and it's SOOOOO chopy.

Specs? Installing 64bit Java may just fix your issue.

I would have to remake every single texture and I just don't feel like doing that. XD

That should be fixed now. I'm guess you were downloading the compressed version which I hadn't quite updated until last night. =)

TOO real. xD
The grain effect would be insanely obnoxious.
Main difference between the compress/non is the amount of RAM that each uses. By maintaining a low sized pack, you can cut down on memory usage. Ofcourse, there is a downside. I've reduced the image quality by a very small fraction to achieve proper compression.
It's not really noticeable, but it's a pain in the ass to update the compressed versions.
I like the old stone texture too. But I don't think the new one is more real because of the black smears. The old one does actually look like a stone came straight from the mountain.
The old stone looked more rough and jagged which reflected many of the caves in Southeast United States. I attempted to reflect the smoother stones of Norther U.S. and much of Europe.
I added a bit of a "moist" appearance to the smooth stone as many cave systems often consists of very wet stonewalls.
Anyway, personal preferences. That's why it's an alternative. =)
This is going to be added to the main page courtesy of Raven whether they like it or not. XD

Well, I just made it that detailed. =D

I need coffee...
See if it works with the test button on Mcpatcher.

Bah... I keep forgetting to fix that sloppy mess. xD
Specs? Installing 64bit Java may just fix your issue.
That's because Minecraft doesn't have any form of texture filtering. Mipmapping and GLSL shaders mods are good choices to battle it.
I would have to remake every single texture and I just don't feel like doing that. XD

You 2 seem to be running out of memory. Try the link at the top of the first page or even a lower resolution may bee needed.
