i got it almost working it works fine with bettergrass when i dont have wild grass installed,
but ...
when wild grass is installed the side of dirt blocks are gray and not green grass ...
other then that it looks grat.
Thanks for the info.
I'll look into the new version of wild grass and see what's up.
I see you posted in the GSLS shaders topic they have a new version today that is compatible with installing when wild grass is installed allready. Have you got plans to make your bumpmapped im running ati 4600 and it doesnt seem to like the distance bluring but if you can get the bump map shader side of it to work without the bluriness shader it should all be fine.
I'm currently working on it, but it would seem that my computer isn't even capable of testing. XD
I have absolutely no knowledge in bump mapping or making normals, but I did find an outlet that I can used with Photoshop. The results look promising, but I haven't had it do anything yet because of an improper scripting that limits it to only 128x128. In that case, though, I may start there.
I can help you if you are using windows, other than that it's pretty confusing for me.
Hold the windows key and press "r"
Type in the "run" bar this without the quotes "%appdata%"
That should put you in your roaming appdata folder
Find and open the ".minecraft" folder
Open the texture packs folder
Delete the pack which is causing trouble. In this case it seems mine. =/
I think there is a problem! has anyone else noticed this now with all mods Betterlight/grass and wildgrass installed the game does not spawn up properly anymore. First starting the game the world will pop up so far then stop i then press ESC and the saving text comes up bottom left and the world spawns up loads quicker. once the world has spawned up as far as it can i walk a bit and the distance doesnt spawn up like it should i press esc and it will do the saving process and spawn everything up in the distance again It seems to be a reoccuring problem and ive only noticed it since the biome upgrade.
This should have been visible since the wild grass mod was added. The game renders the grass as if it were an additional tile. This slows down the render speeds dramatically and is quite noticeable over great distances. Usually a fast computer shrugs it off, but on lower end computers it becomes very obvious.
I never had the problem with it previously with your old grass mod with the 256x256 pack so is it the new wildgrass mod? that he released? dont see why it should effect minecraft that much there adding official blocks that dont make the game suffer from the same fate if they were glass blocks instead of plants i wouldnt experience the same problem!
[-snip-]
the framerate is rubbish but thats just my crap screencap program. It will render fine when in the escape menu and play just like normal when returning, the save symbol goes a bit mad witch is why im thinking there is something glitched.
What other mods do you have installed?
I noticed you have gray lines when walking by the sand. If all else fails, a reinstall might help. =/

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I would guess That your computer just isn't up to par for all of this. From what you have here (and those framerates are AWFUL), I would guess that it's trying to do too much and is "catching up" when you pause it. You have to remember that when you start a new world, it only initially generates the closest chunks to you. Once you start walking, it has to create new chunks (as in actually generate, render, and save). When you pause, things like animations, day-night cycle, and mob spawning also pause, so resources are temporarily freed that can then do this chunk generation.
It's even possible that if you opened up a big world you could walk through already explored areas fine. In this scenario, the chunks are already made and saved and it's only reading them to display them for you.
Try with the 128 pack and see if you have the same issues. It might free up enough memory where you computer can go back to doing everything at once.

Win 7 64 bit
java 64 bit
intel core 2 duo 2.1ghz
4 gigs of ram
ati mobility radeon 4600 1gb dedicated (2.9gb with hypermemory)
so i dont see the problem how do i check framerates ingame will try that when i can update minecraft again!
You can check framerates in-game by holding down F3
I've running Windows 7 64-bit with Java 64-bit on:
Intel i7 860 2.83GHz (up to 3.2GHz with TurboBoost)
8Gb DDR3 2000MHz
Radeon HD 4870X2 2Gb
and I typically get 40-60+ frames with everything turned up with the 256 pack, betterlight/grass, wildgrass, and mipmapping. I had GLSL shaders, but it brought my frames down to 30-40 and either didn't make a difference or made me dizzy, depending on the setting.
Looking at your specs, I'd be willing to say again that you're expecting too much out of your computer. the 256 pack is very demanding and the 4600 series graphics chips were not truly workhorses. Don't get me wrong, they were decent chips, but not high-performance and a mobile version would only be pared down further :/
*EDIT* Of course, Scuttles, I'm amazed you don't have more issues like this, since what you have is about on par with his setup. :biggrin.gif:
I've been working on the bumpmapping mod which I finally have gotten a hang of. I can't quite figure out how to get the 256x256 pack working with this. For now, practice is going on the low-res pack.

Comments and critique welcome. I only have done the cobblestone, not comments in the neighborhood of "smooth stone doesn't look bumped".... I'll rage. ;D
Looking good scuttles! its looking like i may have to downgrade to 128x128 with all this stuff being added! how did you get bump mapping running on your ATI card i dont want that blur effect just the bump mapping?
I upgraded my ATI card at first and it still didn't work. Then, when I distable catalyst AI, it decides it's going to be my best friend. ^^
The blur effect is really easy to get rid of. Just delete the final.fsh after installing the mod, then install the bump mapping part. I'll put up some instructions and the rewritten script to make it with my pack when things fall together smoother.
well just disabled catalyst AI ready i got it working before but gave up after not being able to get rid of the Blur. You will have to make it an idots guide setup readme. I was putting the files from zip into .minecraft folder selecting bump mapping option then patching. So i have to get rid of the final file then put the bump map files into the right folder then patch and it should work?

Hmm... Is it just me, or does it seem like it loses a fair amount of quality that way? It might just be me, idk.
Also, smooth stone doesn't look bumped :tongue.gif:
I am geting that same issue with the world loading being a bit strange when wildgrass is added in conjunction with this great texture pack Oysterbarron. I've got the same mods too ie. BL + BG and obviously WildGrass, my system is sorta faster ie. AMD Phenom II X4, 4Gb's, HD 5770 1Gb and I don't get much of any slowdown apart from the slight stuttering that comes with using a 256x256 texture pack.
Just noticed that this pack lacks a lilypad & lilypad flower texture for the lilypad addition to Wildgrass, its probably been mentioned before so I aplogise if it has. Its no biggie though!
I also agree the bumpmapping does make the texture lose its detail a bit but I gather that's the trade-off required for the effect to work.

I'm pissed. -_-'
But yea, it seems to lose a bit of quality because it stretches the texture up or down. I'm curious on how the 256 will look once I figure that out because there's just too much detail that it won't be noticeably lacking.

It must be a wild grass error...
Are you guys using the patcher or a direct install. He mentioned on his page that the patcher is broken and doesn't work half the time. Maybe a manual install will fix?
Lilypad has crossed my mine, but proceeded to fly on by as my attention span is minimal these days.

What method did you use to install this pack before trying to run Misa's?
Try deleting my pack from the folder, then restart the game and select Misa's.
That should consume less memory when starting the game up and hopefully not cause it to crash when loading another pack
