diamonds for anyone who helps
ELMfuzzy, you need more RAM. do you use the .exe? Try downloading the linux/other .jar client, not the .exe and then, in the file you put the .jar file into, right click in an empty spot and add a new text document (notepad) inside that text doc, copy paste this into it if you have more than 2gigs of ram, if you don't...... well.... you'll need to get more ram (buffer overflow means java is overwriting ram bits that are in use, there isn't any room for the new data.) if more ram isn't possible, use the 128 version.
MAke your notepad file and put this into it, three lines, exactly as is:
@echo off
java -Xms2024M -Xmx2024M -jar minecraft.jar
pause
& save it as launch.BAT (or whatever you want, if you don't know all a batch file does is execute whatever commands you put in it, its like running command prompt from a file you already wrote, nothing shifty about it...) you should get a windows popup about stability, affirm your change and doubleclick the batch file you just made, and copy any errors from the cmd prompt.
alternatively, you can put a CMD shortcut in the same file as the .jar client and from that cmd (must be in same folder) jsut type
java -xms2024m -xmx2024m -jar minecraft.jar
& it should work.
& scuttles about water....
okay, I took the custom stillwater, resized width to 128 and duplicated it next to itself, I applied uncentered (I think) motion blur with paint.net and then replaced the custom water flow with it... and oh my.... You gotta see this, but... I need video...

assuming this is after doing what I said to do, there are a few issues here. First of all, you need to get the linux .jar client. This file is not in the bin folder in your minecraft directory. The .exe client is made to run with the .exe
I got stuck here.
if you want 256x256 You MUST download the linux/other .jar http://www.minecraft.net/download/minecraft.jar?v=1296957419967
you run it INSTEAD of the .exe
remove .exe and bin folder, reinstall using the .jar (with my earlier instructions)
doesn't run in OS, it runs with JAVA so its backwards compatible.
Did you do that?
IF you did... well... did you follow install order in first post? DO you understand entire procedure?
it could be that you only have 700megs of ram... IDK what are your specs?
I did what you said but i get "Java, is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" press any key to continue... its weird, couldn't you supposedly post on mediafire you .minecraft folder excluding your saves, lastlogin, etc.?
the reducing heap size thing was before i did the .jar stuff, the post above is what became of doing the batch command, which is wierd because when i host my bukkit server i had to do the exact same thing but it actually worked

tell me about your knowledge level on the subject of computer trouble? Would you pay someone to repair your computer? No disrespect =D... Just need to know, for now. follow the numbers, right click 1 & tell me if you have a 5...
just a yes or no would do, but you can press the prtsc (printscreen) button that comes after f12, usually. Then paste in paint. Save and upload to imageshack... Then copy the directlink... but you should MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't post sensitive info, like you activation code for windows, etc... seriously, if you don't know if its sensitive, black it out in paint before you save it and host it... But yeah, do you have a 5? java home variable, just a yes or no. No need for a pic. I can tell you this though, your pagefile is MASSIVE. twice as big as I would allow. You should downlaod a program called gamebooster. to see if it brings it down a bit.
im doing what you said but man this is to difficult, you should make something like xaus patcher where you can choose what you want and it automatically installs it
im doing what you said but man this is to difficult, you should make something like xaus patcher where you can choose what you want and it automatically installs it
So, here is the thing. IN the error message you posted after I told you to delete the bin folder and download the linux/other .jar client, in the error message you copy/pasted after I told you this, this error message says that the file you are trying to run is located in your bin folder... I'm sorry, but I'm sorry because computers can be confusing. Just try to do exactly as I say.
If you need more detailed instructions, just ask me. I will send you a PM. But since this could help a number of people...
Since you are running 64-bit windows
1) download and install freeware version of Revo uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/start_freeware_download.html
2)Open Revo
3)click the TOOLS dropdown menu & select OPTIONS
4)in options there will be some icons on the left side of the window, the second one down should be 'Uninstaller' click it.
5)Uncheck all three checkboxes
6)If you aren't a tech wienie then select 'Permanently" under 'delete files & folders
7)now, back to the icons on the left. Click 'All programs'
8)Make sure the bottom check box (check mark all leftovers by default) is ticked.
9)click okay & remove all forms of JAVA from your system. (right click icon & l-click uninstall)
10) Once a java uninstaller is finished, click SCAN and delete all the leftovers.
11) repeat for any other java installs located by Revo uninstaller, continue only after java is erased from the pages of history FOREVER.
1) Download LINUX/OTHER minecraft.jar http://www.minecraft.net/download/minecraft.jar?v=1296963759863
2) put THAT .jar in a NEW FOLDER that you will make in your USER FOLDER (your windows user name located by pressing the START button and looking top-RIGHT)
3) right click the new folder and select SEND TO & then select SEND TO DESKTOP (CREATE SHORTCUT)
Pagefilewhat?
ONCE YOU HAVE THE .JAR
1)open 'computer' from your start menu
2)navigate to C:\Windows\System32 (change drive if needed)
3)Search for CMD using the search bar to the right of the nav bar.
4)right click and create a desktop shortcut for CMD
5)close explorer
6)leave shortcut if it's a friend
7)put CMD in the SAME FILE you put the .JAR executable
Now, copy/paste commands into the command prompt until this gets solved, then you'll make a .bat file. To paste into CMD simply right click the blackness and select paste.
The command to run the jar (in the same folder) is
AT this point we need to make sure you can execute the .jar from command prompt & we are at a standstill until this happens... At this point we are attempting to execute the unaltered .jar. No mods, no updates, nothing but the latest download. If it opens, log in & update... (I'm still editing, don't be afraid to PM me FOR ANY REASON, I don't think about judgement, I want to help & apologize in advance for my downfalls)
absolutly love this pack! It's given me such new inspiration for this game!
Although, I do lag incredibly much while playing. I know it's a big texture pack and all, but is there anything I can do to reduce this? I run an iMAC Quad Core. Thanks for the help!
D
So, I've used the installation method you used. The only other addon I use is that grass addon that works with the mod. I put those files into the file for this mod. No Pop-Up grass shows up like in the pictures, but the plants do.
2nd, after playing for 2 minutes, The screen turns black and the program stops responding. I was windows 7, and can run this (while it's working) with a very good frame rate, my graphics card, Memory, and processor aren't used much at all...
Oh, and I use the 2.0 (256 by 256 (or something like that...) version of this. Latest version of minecraft Beta.
I have tried re-installing... And have ran out of ideas.......

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I blame ADD for my inability to read through all of the posts here to check.
I started using your 256 pack, and I really like these textures (except maybe the pig, but more on that later). I was skeptical and had previously been no braver than using the Quandary pack, which truly isn't much more than a refresh of default.
The problem I'm having is at the edges of blocks, there seem to be gaps of light:
Wool:
Also, torches, flowers, and similar items have a "wireframe" effect around them. (Even shows up on that Yellow menu text, which is really weird)
Lastly, grass and foliage sometimes has a blue texture in areas, but it seems to be treated as a biome color, as other colors will transition into it. If this is intentional, then it should be noted that side-grass in these cases is still green.
However, you did make my buildings look a lot better:
So, I guess I can't complain too much. Except the pig...
Okay, not going to lie, most of the creatures look amazing, but the pig's eyes scare me. They look human, not pig-ly. If I may, Misa's pig texture looks really good and yet wouldn't deviate too much from your other creatures. It would just have to be upscaled, which you already intend to do with some 128 into 256. Or perhaps just something closer to that, I don't know. I just know this scares me for whatever reason:
Obviously, if I did something wrong and this can be fixed on my end, I'm all ears. I'm thinking it is because no one else's screenshots have these problems from what I've seen. If it helps, I have BetterLight and Grass on, Zan's Minimap (these problems definitely existed with AND without this), and I tried Wild Grass, but I haven't seen any effect with that yet.
Performance wise, this runs much better than I was expecting, though it's leveraging a lot more GPU power than before (nothing wrong with that, plenty to spare). While it was playable at full-view distance, I put the first point of fog on, just to buy myself a few more frames. Combined with Java x64 to remove memory limitations, I say it runs pretty well.
Any suggestions anyone may have are welcome. :/
*EDIT* Editted to use simg tags instead of img as the pictures were a lot bigger than I thought...
*EDIT, YET AGAIN (God, I hope I'm not being too annoying yet, but surely this is better than 12 posts, right?)* Okay, the light borders and wireframes seem to have disappeared upon my installing the GLSL renderer mod and updating my graphics drivers. However, grass and trees are still sometimes blue, so maybe that truly is intentional.
Also, another I noticed (before the GLSL, just forgot to mention it before) is that some blocks (particularly smoothstone and possibly gravel, have kind of a glittery effect to them. I think it's from the down-to-the-pixel detail in those two textures where you have a few light pixels in the image. Regardless, it's okay so far, but I could see it getting a bit dizzying in long narrow halls of smoothstone.
Please don't think I dislike your pack. I very much do, hence why I want to point out the few things that I don't like, in hopes of getting this "perfect."
