Pardon my stupidity. I have never got modding or anything but I seen the first page of this and downloaded the HD Patcher and ran it and patched it. Then I took this mod and extracted it to the "Texture" folder. But the game just crashes. And yes I tried that Java update and "Heapsize" thing but nothing helps. Was there some kind of new info in the 300+ pages on here? lol

don't extract it to the folder.. put the zip into the texturepack folder

The only issue that I can tell that you did was extracting into the texture pack folder. You should have just placed the .zip into the folder and it would have ran fine. ^^

heya Scuttles...I'm about to give away a secret only a few of us know... making a tut for the heat shimmer on lava...hehe (and probably one for the sparklyness on water) maybe it'll up the quality of a lot of packs..
Hehe, maybe it is long overdue that some people need to know how things are done around here. XD
Will this be added to your animated water tutorial?

scuttles i think you did an epic fail: i think =EPIc FAIL= was on about my model... not your texture pack when he said that....
lol, you FAIL!
He was regarding to the use of images or painting of "something", if you will. If it were the model, he was being quite sarcastic and called you out. You, sir, have failed. =)

I did it right after using MCpatcher on a clean copy.
If it helps, i also have a 128x texture pack (The great sea) that works perfectly.
If you have x128 texture packs working, you may have simply ran out of memory allocated to Java. Have you tried hitting "test minecraft" with the patcher and see if that works? If it does, then you will need to increase your java heap size which, personally, I would just Google or Youtube how to do that.
All else fails, you could try the x128 version and that will likely work. ^^
@Scuttles most likely I'll get it added to the tut page.. gonna post it along with the advanced water and the fire tut on the artist's guild forums for sure. I'm an admin there now :tongue.gif:
edit: on a side note.. I finally got some wep/tools previews out :tongue.gif: (got motivated out of nowhere to work on them...lol)
Same thing as the above poster, I've downloaded your mods before, but when I click on the link now, I just get the add pages. There is no prompt for me to download any file no matter which browser I use (chrome, IE9 or FF4.01) I'm hoping for an update to this pack as it's fantastic, but not being able to download it doesn't help me much!
-Also doesn't matter which pack I try to Dl be it the 64, 128 or 256. I'm shooting for the 256.
Yeah it works in the test, guess i'll try the heap size thing.
Edit: Set it to as high as i could comfortably put it, guess i'll just take the 128x.
Sad day. =(
x128 isn't much different from the 256, fortunately. Hope you like it.

Nice, lol
Scary thought that you are helping other people out, though.
I'll have to go check them out. Random motivation/inspiration, ftw

Do you have a direct link to the 256x pack?
mediafire is not working for me.
great work though
Mediafire is very touchy for some browsers. I'll be getting a premium Mediafire account which allows direct downloads and doesn't have the popups on the site. If I'm feeling really ambitious I've looked into hosting my own domain as well.

There is a "skip ad" on the top right corner. =/

Dude, the website is screwed up.
it isnt media fire. Its freaking Ads.fly.
Any other way to download it? Can you email it to me, or something?
Well I got it installed right this time and it started up. But when I went to the Texture folder in game the "High Res" options was grayed out and the game froze! I tried three more times and had the same problem. >.<

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "High Res" options. =/
Have you tried hitting "test minecraft" from the patcher? It may be that your Java is running out of memory. Could you post your computer specs please?
It's hard to debug an error when I don't know what I'm working with. =)
Guess that would help lol. When I test it, it says:
Launching C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar
java -cp "C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/minecraft.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl_util.jar;C:\Users\<removed>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin/jinput.jar;" "-Djava.library.path=C:\Users\Boba Fett\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\natives" -Xmx2048M -Xms512M net.minecraft.client.Minecraft
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Minecraft exited with status 1
I know it says not enough space. But I've tried every number from 2048 to 8000. lol. As for my specs they are pretty crappy :tongue.gif: :
-Quad Core AMD Phenom X4 9750
-Heatsink/CPU cooler
-ATI RADEON HD 4850 1GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card
-8GB Ram
-CD/DVD-DL Lightsribe writer)
-750 Watt Antec Power Supply.
-750 Gig HD and a 1TB HD (WD's)
-750 Backup MyBook
-Win 7
-G9X Mouse
-10+ Fans
-Fatality Sound Card (Sound Blaster)
What I meant by "High Res option" is when you go to the texture option in Mineraft to I assume choose your textures it shows you "Default" and whatever else you installed. At that point the High Res pack I installed is grayed out and the program crashes. If it helps this is what I mean:
For some reason, even after patching it with the Newest patcher It crashes whenever I try to play sp with it selected. Then It crashes every time I try to open minecraft.
Well after downloading the right versions and remoinv/reinstalling Minecraft (and even watching the tutorial) it still crashes! I can at least now drag the High Res file into the textures folder and then I click "Done" but when I go to SP its still the default textures. I go back to that texture selector and then it freezes! >.<
---edit---
I wanted to post the steps I took. Maybe I somehow missed something.
-Deleted .Minecraft folder.
-Ran "Minecraft" to forced an update.
-After it updated ad went to menu I exited Minecraft.
-Ran "MCPatcher 2.0.1"
-Clicked Patch and once it was done closed it.
-Ran "Minecraft"
-Went to the "Textures" section in game.
-Clicked "Open Texture Folder"
-Dragged the High Res texture zip into the folder.
-Waited a minute or two.
-Closed the Explorer window.
-Tried running a SP level.
-Level is still using Default.
-Went back to Texture selector and Minceraft crashes.
BTW I tried making anew level and loading an old one but crashes either way or doesn't have the high res pack!
----edit....again----
I noticed you said if running Windows 7 64bit you need Java 64bit. Well I uninstalled my Java, restarted the pc, installed the 64 bit version for Win 7, restarted again. But under the java program in the control panel it still says its 32 bit. >.< Maybe thats the issue.

I remember there was a skip add link there, but honestly I don't see it. I'll take a screenshot of my window and post it.

And even when I have ABP disabled, it's still the same screen
That happens to me, I just spam refresh. It usually works after 2 or 3. ^^
