Finally decided to get MCP For linux again. I will make a mod. I ask for your support. I hope to get it done today also :biggrin.gif:
- For scuttles.
As in that secret texture you wanted like 8 years ago?
Well its not SECRET anymore. And I need two now FOR NOW... When Version one comes out, I'll be sure to link you :biggrin.gif: *Version 1.1/1.2 may need more ;P*
Optional installs:
Wild grass by ejhopkins is part of the mod and will work with the current version as of now. Just copy all of the files EXCEPT the terrain.png
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=100771
How exactly do I apply this mod? Any help would be appreciated as I am completely stumped.
My install method is a bit outdated it seems. =/
All you need to do is place the wildgrass .pngs from the wildgrass download into the minecraft.jar inside the bin folder. You'll also need the wildgrass mod placed in there as well. This is located in the "client" folder of his mod.
The reason that the wildgrass custom textures are not working is because the name of the folder the textures are in is named "wildgrass"... to make them work u need to rename the folder "wildGrass" which the mod will then recognize. :biggrin.gif:
glad i could help

About my problem with 256x, I'll just go with "my computer sucks and can't run this awesomeness."
Once again (can't say it enough) awesome work. Thanks!
Lol, alright. I'm still unsure as to your issue, but atleast you have one working version. =D

Hey,
Amazing texture pack first off, it's really beautiful.
But my problem comes when I try to install the 256x256 version I get the following message when I click " Test Minecraft "
" Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Minecraft exited with status 1 "
That is when I try to change the heap from 1024 to 2048, now my pc should be able to handle it, I run W7 64-bit with an i5 processor, followed by 8GB of RAM, what could be the problem? Anyone able to help? Thanks for reading.
I'd first start off by saying download 64bit Java. That really should fix about 95% of people's problems with 64bit systems. =)
If that's not the case, then I'd try not changing the heap size and test out one of the other resolutions.

Hey Scuttles! I have a problem with your texture. I downloaded the 256 version, added it, and when i start minecraft and select it for the first time, it works. After that, if i exit the game and leave the texture enabled, when i try to start it, after the Mojang logo i get black screen. To test if there was something with the 256 version, i downloaded the 128 one. Added it, and when i click on it, no texture is applied. Instead it applies the default one. (If i am using another texture pack and click on the 128 version of photo realism, it reverts to default textures, while it clearly is selected). The 64 version i did not try but it's strange how both hi-res textures don't work. Please help. Thanks in advance, Dragosh.
I think the "no texture is applied" issue is from the mirror sending more packets than your internet speed can handle. Just redownload and see if that works.
Also, I've had a few people post that strange error with the patcher allowing the game to run the first time and then never again. I'm not sure if it was ever resolved.

I suppose he speaks about Bumpmapping. And I agree, it's the only thing missing from this pack, if something ever missed :wink.gif:
Love the new stone and ores, they look much more natural.
Just waiting on Dufric. He's made some impressive progress thus far (better than I could do)
Anyone else remember this picture of when I was doing the bumpmapping? I made some amazing progress, but it took HOURS to do just a few textures. =S

Another improvement suggestion: bookshelves could have a more vibrant texture imo, or just a more interesting texture in general. After using them for a while they look somewhat bland, like a file of various records. Maybe make the books look newer/better or something, add scrolls, ink and paper, something. :tongue.gif: I mean, they're quite hard to create without having a field of sugar cane, they could have an impressive texture as well.
Interesting. I've rather enjoyed the "bland" appearance to the bookshelves. I'll try a few different things to see if it works out better.
about how long would u say it takes for the 256 to load... ive waited around 5mins and it still hasnt loaded... im pretty sure i instealled it correctly as well but i could be wrong.

It's okay, you can live without sleep for a few days. :-)
lol, jk.
That picture still blows my mind though, hope to be able to play like that one day :sad.gif:
Especially with the new Stone.
Any ETA on next TP update? <3
Want new stone and bedrock :biggrin.gif:

Hi this is a GREAT texture pack but for the wildgrass mod could you explain how to get that to work because i have followed your instructions but it doesnt appear in my game. Can you please help?
Just extract the class files in the client folder of wildgrass into minecraft.jar.
Success :3
You won't see it in Mulitplayer unless the server you're on has either the server mod installed or the Bukkit plugin (Vegetation).

Should take about 5-30 seconds depending on your system. If it's taking that long, post your specs so I can make some better judgements to the issue.

Lol, I did a doubl-take when I opened it up for the first time in a month. That was hand drawn bumpmapping with only the Nvidia plugin to guide me.
That plugin is absolutely terrible in simply generating any form of bumpmapping. =\
Well, the update is nearly finished for the most part. I was sort of waiting for the 1.6 update, but it would seem that it's not coming for a while. Perhaps tonight it will be ready. =3

Hello. First off, this texture pack is amazing. It has completely renewed interest in the game for me.
I am having some trouble getting the Wild Grass to work with my 256 version of the Photo Realism texture pack.
I have installed it the way you said to, with just using the .png files and the mod files.
I also have Mod Loader and MipMap installed as well.
The Wild Grass shows up, but in the low-res regular version. See my attached screenshot please...
Is there anything that someone could think of? I've seen the screenshots where the wildgrass looks amazing, and I really would like to have that in my experience. Thanks!
I read a post a while back on how a guy got the modloader version to work. All the .pngs need to be placed into the "wildgrass" folder located inside the .jar
but it would seem that it's not coming for a while.
Yep :S
-snip-
Can't wait for tonight then, I will use the texture pack instead of porn.
Well, that's both comforting and a little depressing. I can get my pack out without having to worry about a new release right after it, but I also wanted those maps. =(
Tonight it will be then. ^^
I'll try to get some better windows as well.

Okay scuttles so i re-downloaded about 2 times each of the two packs but still to no avail... It doesn't seem to be an inconsistency problem when you download a file which appears to be complete but it's not, because when i first enabled the 256 version it worked. Only after i exited the game and ran it again, i got the black screen. Tried downloading again about 4 times and it was the same every time, i ran the game while it was on default texture, applied your 256 one, it worked, then i exited game and when i ran it again, after Mojang logo, i got black screen which doesn't end. If i go to texturepacks folder and remove the texture from there, when i start the game it does go past the Mojang logo and it starts with the default texture.
Hmmm... Is it working when you hit "test minecraft" with the patcher? You may need to reallocate memory to Java or even install a 64bit version of Java based on your system.
Well i am running the correct java version, and its for 32bit which is exactly what my system runs on. Windows 7 32bit. About the running in test mode i don't know, i haven't tried.
EDIT: I tried downloading again and tried just to be sure to run it with WinRAR. Heh. It doesn't work. Gives error, so i guess that's the problem. Inconsistency after all. Lemme try the other link see if it works.
EDIT 2: Yep. That's the problem. I tried both links, and both give me "Unexpected end of archive" if i try to open them with WinRAR.
What should i do then?
Have you tried the Mediafire links near the bottom?
Here's one of the new glass textures that I've been working on. I'm not entirely sure that it is exactly what I want, but I'll certainly keep playing with it.
I completely forgot about the new animated fire! It's almost finished and need a few more tweeks. ^^

Nice indeed! Though it would be better if it were more clear, so those borders that form a "square" shape would be better if they were moved more towards the corners of the block :smile.gif:
By the way, i'm trying the mediafire link now. Gonna edit soon the result :wink.gif:
EDIT: Okay. It doesn't give error now. Thank you!
PS: When can we expect some bumpmaps from this texture? Cmon Scuttles, i know you wanna make it awesome :biggrin.gif:
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to work on that a bit more. =)
Well, a friend of mine is working on the bumpmaps and he's much better at it than I am. He also has a busy schedule, but hopefully we can see something fairly soon.

But then I messed up when touching up my stone texture and made this mistake. Not bad, eh?
I certainly hope so. =)
Here's another after a bit more touching up. Caves certainly look more "cavey"
