How did you go about finding real photos of Soul Sand and Nether Rack?

Lol, those are actually textures from within the natural pictures. Netherrack was an over-saturated and highly contrasted version of the stone texture and the glowstone was a modified version of the diamond textures.
Tried to Manual install think I ****ed it up though, how do i do it the correct way, just to make sure i'm doing it right.

Step 1. Download teh texture pack
Step 2. Download teh mc patcher
Step 3. run teh mc patcher
Step 4. click teh patch
Step 5. move teh texture pack .zip 2 jur texturepacks folder in %appdata%/.minecraft/
Step 6. run teh mc
Step 7. click teh mods and texture packs
Step 8. click teh texture pack.
Step 9. ???
Step 10. Profit.

The pumpkin face is not existing, only the Jack-O-Lanter face. It is since the version 4.0 gone.

I gave you the proper install method, any other issue is not with this texture pack and is either with MCpatcher or an interfering modification.
99.9% though, it's misuse of MCPatcher or said modification.
(I'm happy, I managed to use a condescending tone in my post. I didn't realize text had a tone.)

i run the mcpatcher. then i put the .zip in the texture folder in the %appdata% im using a brand new .jar file. and when it runs i go to mods and it freezes there. any ideas?

Run it via 'Test Minecraft' in MC Patcher and give us the error you get when it crashes.
Or, the better idea would be to post it in the MCPatcher thread.
Please please please make a 32x version of this and i will definitely download.
I'll consider it. It's a lot of work to update several packs and even the 3 I have now takes a long time.

Then you've done the wrong .jar if it's not doing anything. Make sure it's the "minecraft.jar" inside the bin folder. DO NOT put it in the one with the a version after it.
Thats what i did, opened minecraft.jar and changed all the stuff over, not sure where to place the custom animation for lava though, just dropped it in there randomly.
That should be the proper method. If that didn't work, I'm not sure why...

Hello! I really like the look of your pack! But I've some problems while playing with it because I can't see any change - there are still the same graphics as before!
I play the 1.5 Beta and have patched it with the HD patch, but nothing happens.
What can I do?

Are you placing the texture pack into the folder and selecting it when you get into the menu?

Those should just go into the same area with all the .class files and .pngs such as the terrain.png
