I love the texture pack and used previous versions fine (before 1.5 came out) but I have been away for a while and now that I'm back I can not get 256x256 to work again after installing the latest Minecraft and I've seen that you've already updated it to suit 1.5.
The problem: I put the .zip into my "Texturepacks" folder and close it, then when I click on it in the client to select it as my texture pack the client freezes, sometimes the screen of the minecraft client will go black but it always freezes until I ctrl+alt+del End Program.
I did notice that you told someone with the same type of problem that he will need 64 bit Java and I have tried using it I installed it the other day but minecraft kept telling me I needed Java so I ended up going back to the 32 bit version. Any advice?
Minecraft is not compatible with 64-bit Java, I un-installed Java 100% Rebooted and Installed the latest 64 bit Java, I then tested Java by using 64 bit Java software that I know of and everything worked fine, Double clicked the Minecraft .exe and all it did was create an Error log on my desktop.
So I am guessing Minecraft is not compatible with the 64 bit version of Java?

Minecraft is compatible with 64bit Java. I can assure you that. What launcher are you trying to run the game off?
Have you tried some of the lower resolution versions?
Opinions pertaining to the new dirt texture? I'm trying to make a more vibrant and lightened version of dirt upon request. =)
Also, progress on the update is going much smoother now. I'll have something by this weekend for sure.
Can either of you talk me through how to get it working? I get this:
-error-
Oddly enough your computer is running Java off of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 despite having Windows 7 installed. =S
Probably nothing to do with the issue, but it's certainly odd.
What HD patcher are you using when installing? The old one by xau no longer works the 2.0 beta is required for the 1.5+ updates of minecraft.
Yeah that is weird, no idea why. I just re-created the report after making sure its not running in compatibility mode and it still lists windows vista sp2.
I am using this patcher: mcpatcher-2.0.0-beta4
Edit: I would also like to add that it can not be a performance issue, because I was running this 256x256 pack like two weeks ago perfectly fine, My PC is very powerful especially in CPU & Ram so it cant be that.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I an using the Minecraft.exe that you download from Minecraft.net I think thats what you meant by launcher.
Glowstone and lava could be nicer, as could the glass. Rest of which is pretty decent. AaGeOn's Bumpmaft Xtreme had pretty decent lava and glass if you'd need an example. Glowstone feels way too coarse and filled with noise, would've been nice for some sort of smooth manufactured glowing glass type feel.

Hmmm... I have no idea what is going on with your Java. =\
I can't recall, but did you have a fresh install of minecraft before trying this. I know I was having issues when I first tried that new patcher over a previously patched install.
The error itself doesn't actually seem to be Java. It's something wrong with the coding most likely for a corrupt patch or something improper.

By the way I like the dirt, it looks fantastic.
Almost forgot to respond to that, how rude of me not too while you're helping me lol.
Haha, thanks. Fair enough. XD

Unfortunately Aageon discontinued his pack and left most of his fans with almost nothing to move on to. I'm trying everyday to fill that void until he comes back. =)
Lava is a known issue, but is extremely difficult to tile well and give it a proper animation. I've been really lazy on that one. The glass may have a more "medieval" feel in the next update. Hopefully you'll like it.
Glowstone has been a huge pain in the ass for me. I've tried many textures that seem very appealing to me and work wonderfully in the nether, but everyone hates the end result. I'm stubborn on the fact that I don't want something that looks man-made placed perfectly into the natural world. Well, as natural as the nether goes. I'll try to think of something.
I deleted everything brand new minecraft.exe, I didn't even have your texture pack installed while trying to get 64 bit to work. I'm now pondering whether or not I should just Nuke my PC and do a clean install of windows & everything else lol.. not worth the hours of installation and crap just because one game wont work properly though.

Yea, I don't think it would be worth it either. =(
Sorry about the inconvenience. Hopefully later versions of the patcher/minecraft allow less crashes with higher resolution packs.
Haven't been in the nethers in a while, there's a base and all but hard to expand with all those ghasts. Though I suppose that is a point. Just that there's no other block based lights that doesn't carry a face. Clay is a bit different coloured than the norm, and yea the dirt does feel really chocloaty/muddy to us though the new one does look a bit better.
i downloaded the 64x64 version, but it doesnt work. it just waits, then crashes and them i have to drag the .zip file out of the minecraft folder. do i still need to patch it?

I am nearing completion of the main parts of my pack!
Sorry you haven't heard from me in a while, and thanks [HUGE thanks] to grugsy for helping me speed up my animations. I had ran through close to 30 different animations before and was doing the copy paste one frame at a time.
I am going to link to the OP of LB pack on my post when I finish up, and I will give credit to your pack for what I didn't do, but I do not know the respective authors of certain elements.
I have been nearing completion for a while now, but all these dang updates keep putting me behind!
I shall let you know when it will be ready to release the first version!
Every time I load a page that you have posted on, my anti-virus detects a trojan. It seems to have something to do with your animated .gif avatar.
Would you be so kind as to change it? I don't like being suspicious about new members.
I assume you're using Microsoft Security Essentials, I just got the same thing when I went to check what you were talking about.

I decided to do the clean OS install lol, I just wanted this fixed and luckily it worked but I am now lacking my Kaspersky anti-virus that came with my motherboard which is why I am using MSE which is why I only now got the false-positive from that guys avatar GIF.
Anyway my only guess of what it could be was that there was some mix up with the Java paths and Minecraft.exe just didn't know which or where the Java versions were (32 & 64 bit) so it would just fail with an error.
Everythings working fine now and I have it running on 64 bit, which I am hoping means I will experience less crashing and smoother game play!
Thanks for your support through this problem and obviously thanks for the beautiful texture pack and all the upkeep you perform on it!

No problem.
I just haven't been around these past two weeks because of college exams. =)

System specs:
Windows 7 (64 bit)
EVGA GTX 480
Intel Core i7 930 @ 3.8Ghz
6GB DDR3 Trident 2000Mhz Tri-channel Ram
OCZ 120GB vertex II SSD
Pretty sure that's all that matters for Minecraft cheers.
Minecraft crashed while crashing

It certainly is - in fact, that's what stopped the black-screen crashes I was having before I upgraded.

I dunno, I've always seen dirt as more crumbly, like gravel [except for when it's mud].
