Really great, but i think i prefer the old 128p wood planks, and dont up the light i love darkness.
PS: im using mipmaps
gonna posts some scrrenies
The wood planks were from another pack which I hadn't got around to editing. Here's what the next release will look like. Critiquing is quite welcome.
EDIT:
These are the gravel texture I've been debating about. I'll need some opinions on the next one in the release. I've also had an idea of simply putting stones in the current dirt texture.
Ignore the water marks. The photo itself becomes so altered that, by law, I'll no longer be "stealing" it.
For the gravel pictures that you chose:
I'd choose either the first or second pic, I don't really have a preference between the two.
Now.. If only I could get the depth of field mod to work heh. (Not this packs fault, I can't even get it to work with the default textures for some reason )
Looks amazing, but I'm sure it lags like a ****! Whats your experience, is it laggy, or will it ajust?
It's not as laggy since the new hd texture fixer that came out a few weeks back fixed the high res packs. If you run it with wild grass, the lag when the map first loads brings my comp down to about 10-15 fps, but usually I get a steady 40-50 after it adjusts. Keep in mind I also have a laptop, which is pretty decent, not too high performance.

Yea, I can't get that depth of field to work either. I have an ATI driver that just refused to cooperate.
Minecraft was intended to work with plain, low-res textures, which is the style Notch was going for. So pretty much everything over 32x32 is :SSSS:. It doesn't fit in.

I refuse to stand amongst the crowd with masses of 16 and 32. I do like many 16 and 32 packs, some of which I still play with when I'm feeling it.
I'm not here to bash your opinion. To each our own, but I'll continue to work on this. :wink.gif:

The 256x256 texture pack slows down Minecraft too much. Even if it is a "Beta", the texture pack makes Minecraft unusable. Also, going into water crashes the game. While I like the looks (see below), you need to either list it as "slows down the game to a nearly unusable or completely unusable state" or remove the download altogether.
As for how the texture pack looks, I think it is one of the top texture packs in the entire forum. I think the only other major contender with this pack is "Sanguine". Still, the water looks bland and would be much better off similar to this. I also think that, while it does look realistic compared to the competition, it would probably (at least, in my opinion) be better off looking brighter than it does now.
I hope that you find my constructive criticism useful, congratulations on your successful texture pack.
The 256x256 texture pack isn't for everybody and that's why I kept the old 128x128 out there. I will continue to work on and revamp both texture packs for as long as I can. I may suggest that your computer could be the issue because I'm currently running teh 256x256 flawlessly with about 40-50 fps. (I have an alright laptop)
The water has given my a really hard time because I'm trying to create an animated water and after about 6-7 failed attempts I'm letting myself cool off and work on it later. The darkness is a well known issue that I've been working on for quite some time. I'm trying to get the balance between realism and playable during night.
I don't think you read my post right. By "brighter", I meant something like this:
As you can see, the colors are bright and cool. Your texture pack, however:
The colors are dark, bland, and uninviting. All you need to do is add more saturation and it will be looking great. As for the water, I'm glad that you're trying and hope to see at least some progress.
Oh, and I don't think my GTX 580 will have a problem handling 256x256 texture packs. But I do appreciate your concern. (:

I see. I most certainly misinterpreted that statement.
So in order to compensate for the games lack of glow/good shading I should increase some contrast and saturation. An interesting thought that I'll most certainly have to do in the near future. (This involves going back and revamping each individual block)
I'll try fiddling with the grass, trees, and dirt at the moment to see if I can get some pleasing results.
Well, that most certainly will kick my laptops ass so you should be fine after all. xD
For the water issue, I'm thinking of actually going out and buying an animation program and create some rippling water, then saving as a gif. From there I can rip it apart photo by photo and make them individually seamless. A pain in the ass process, but the results would be phenomenal.
Hi, I'm really enjoying your 128x128 mod, beautiful work, I came across a small problem while trying to add crabs in to my world, viewtopic.php?f=25&t=128352&start=180 the gui file from crabs overwrites yours and if i use yours, it has no crab meat gui icons, so I was wondering if you might update your gui file with crab meat, thanks again for all your hard work and now I’m off to try 256x256 textures :biggrin.gif:
cheers!
Hav some diamonds, :Diamond:," Crap! ..How did he get in there, don't care RUN!?!"

My god those crabs are cute. @[email protected]
I'll see what I can do. If you have any sort of photo editing software available, you can put the crab meat in there yourself for a temporary fix
I've lost far too many diamonds to the creepy fella, lol.
Hmm , i like the last gravel picture . Why ? : becouse it looks more smooth and nice... ^^. But the 1st picture is more realistic for the gravel job so #1 vote. Btw: what's with this flammers on the post? this texture pack is awesome and works very good. ( yeah i'm a confused person somethimes lol)
i modified your pack a little for my personal use hope you dont mind
here is the modifications
that is not shooting here is shooting
is that fine?
Lmao!
Yes, quite alright. xD

Going to check your new 256 pack out! tried your old pre 1.2 128 pack and was impressed. As the download is capped now and going way slow just thought i would come and say that might need to find an alternative host for the larger files!
Well, in about an hour I'm going to post the updated version of the 256 pack hope you enjoy it (given that you can download it. =\)
What sites would you prefer I use as a host?

To use brighter textures is a very bad idea, why you might ask ?
Ok its like this, when the shaderpacks gets more stable and bloom is standard all you are going to see is WHIIIIITE
i acctually tested this allready by trying to got lens GLOW flares on the tourches and was forced to change allother textures to -under 160 limunocity to be able to see.
One more note, the textures are fine IT IS the lighting that DOES NOT exist.
minecraft does not use a single realtime light.
Please dont make brighter textures, for those who wants bright just add the glsl shader and pump up the bloom over 0.3

Combined the bloom, ssao, and dof that were all posted here into one.
You can enable/disable parts of it if you so please.
const float BLOOM_STRENGTH = 3.0 ;
That bloom is quite impressive. I can see where your coming from and when I can get the GLSL shaders up and running with this ATI driver I'll be able to make the textures uniform with the bloom for a better effect.
I'm also going to make a second terrain.png for the upcoming bump mapping part of that mod. I'm afraid that this will slit my computers throat.

Alright, I'll have to do #1 then. Eh, there will always be haters and fanboys raging over something that they, personally, don't like. I honestly don't care and it won't prevent me from doing this pack so thank you for defending me. =)

Very nice rail bridge. :wink.gif:
I personally was a huge fan of the new cobblestone. I'm thinking about putting it in my 128x128.
It's almost too realistic. xD
Once I'm done with the terrain.png I can move on to the items and finish the gui.
EDIT:
That's going on the main page if you don't mind. >.<
No problem. I just appreciate you posting these on this thread. I rarely get to see my pack in action, let alone with sweet structures.
Sad to say, you're blowing my mind how awesome this pack is. Strange...

Wow, very nice. You build all that in survival single player?
