The more testers Scuttle's has the harder it's going to be to contact them all and make sure we are all on the latest version...
So everyone and their grandmother asking to beta test it isn't going to work.
I would say post your HONEST specs, and if they can definitely run the pack no problem you MIGHT get picked, at Scuttle's discretion.
Not that I would say it's particularly hard to run.
Same requirements CPU/GPU wise as the 256x256, but it CAN require a bit more RAM.
64-bit OS and 64-bit Java is a must.
Understandable.
Phenom II X4 @3.1 Ghz
Radeon HD 4830 overclocked
4GB RAM
Win 7 X64
It easily maxes out my v-sync at 256x and oddly enough only uses ~300MB of mem. Must be -Xingc like you said haha. But also I'm using java 7 and the optifog package so that might have something to do with it.
(Also my galaxy s runs stable at 1.5 GHZ :tongue.gif:)
Posted a small update with a few fixes including the wildgrass issue. Please post some issues that I need to over for the next update. I've stared at the terrain far too long to see an issues anymore. It's all the same to me... :blink.gif:
Other news:
Test on the x512 seems to have gone extremely well and with the Optimine/Optifog mod it has minimal grain effects. I HIGHLY recommend everyone installing that mod if you have any lagging issues. =)
Thank you. I've tried real hard to get it to where it is today and it's turned out quite well. I appreciate the support. =)
The long loads are typical. After all, it's huge compared to the default textures.
I'm not sure as to the reason why the glowstone would do that. Maybe server lag? I haven't had any comments regarding that issue.
Anyway, on to the crashes. I highly suggest installing 64bit Java for your computer. That should prevent just about all of the crashes. ^^
ok thanks I will try that (The glowstone glitch didn't happen on a server by the way, I have used a lot of glitchy invedits and other mods that i think might have caused it though.)
you are an amazing texture maker, i would use your 256X pack
but my computer is just not capable of it :sad.gif: .
and now i see that you are making a 512X pack, that is just epic!!!

Well, if still possible, I'd like to be a 512x-Tester.
My specs are:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 6x3,2GHz
8GB DDR3
ATI HD 6950 1GB
Win 7 64x + Java 64x of course
If it is too late already, consider this post, non-existend :-D
I'm playing in default texture pack now, and even default has really bad grain.
Even WITH mipmapping.
The only solution for this is AF texture filtering...
No matter the size of the texture, if it's not being filtered it's going to look bad. :/
Notch needs to add this, not for HD textures, but for the default textures as well.

I'll finish up polishing a few more textures and send them your way.
Can i test too? :smile.gif: just wonder, want my pc to die XD
You may be an interesting tester. I'll add you to the list. At this point I'm trying to find people with a low amount of RAM or older computers to see if they can handle it with a bit of tweaking.

Yep. I've been waiting for a simple texture filter to be added ever since the initial beta so long ago. It will look extremely unprofessional if they have god-awful moire in the final release of the game.
ok thanks I will try that (The glowstone glitch didn't happen on a server by the way, I have used a lot of glitchy invedits and other mods that i think might have caused it though.)
Potentially. Mods stack on the memory usage so it could have been an issue with them.

It's quite a beautiful pack. I'm excited to hear the massive amount of critique when I release the beta terrain. =)

I may want you. You have a similar setup to my main computer so I'm curious. =)
It's **** though... too many graphical bugs.
Needs to be done in-game.
Plus I don't use NSHITIA :tongue.gif:
AMD bitches. Catalyst Control Center.
Funny, I heard ATI is having a lot of driver problems. Also I heard they can't handle Crysis 2 tessellation. I don't think I never have a problem with NVIDIA.

'heard' Never used it yourself though? :tongue.gif:

Actually I "heard" it from people who use it. There are lot of stories of it on overclock.net. I'm not saying ATI is a bad brand. I'm saying NVIDIA is good as ATI. Sometimes *cough* it can *cough* be better *cough* than ATI *hacking cough* Excuse me, I got something in my throat.
My specs:
Intel Core I7 920 @ 2.6Ghz
Sapphire Radeon HD4670 (1G of DDR3 memory)
4G of DDR3 RAM (Normally would be eight, but I'm confined to a 32 bit edition of Windows 7 at the moment...)
I get 100-150 FPS in the 256 packs, I'm curious what I get in a 512 pack.
Jesus Christ, mother****ers need to stop quoting the main page.
