Got shaders, bumpmapping and specular mapping on the 256 LB photo realism. Looks so good.
Along with all that I also installed the waving wheat, grass and leaves shader and bloom.
Lookin good.. :cool.gif:

Looks great! If only we could get proper water reflections. =S

So I experience no FPS loss with 512x512, but it takes much longer to load.
Bad screenshots, tons of grain, will have better screenshots in 9 days when I get mah new hard drives
Gives Scuttles plenty of time to work on it :tongue.gif:

Haha, nice! I feared that it would have really bad grain. Mipmapping/GLSL is pretty much required it seems.
I'm hoping to have the terrain mostly finished by the weekend.
Wow, ive been with your texture pack before you even had a 256x pack, and i absolutely cannot wait for the 512x. Please send it to me when you can, i will also take pictures for you and let you know how it runs. I get about 110-130 fps on your 256x pack so i think it should be fine.
I would HIGHLY suggest getting more RAM. The x512 is 4x larger in resolution than the x256 so it will take up much more memory.
The x512 is basically another pack entirely. It was based off of Oblivion because I'm excited for Skyrim. XD
The wildgrass for the x512 will simply look astonishing based off of what I can do with it so I plan to keep that mod in mind for when I progress further.
The sand is fixed (sort of) and I've moved on to trying to finish the terrain this week.
I made the mistake of creating all of mine at 256x256 so when the new patcher came along being able to go higher I was unable to get to a higher resolution. Imagine a texture pack with a resolution of 2048x2048, lol
So I just started from scratch and made an Oblivion based texture pack at x512. ^^
Do you mean 2x larger than 256x? 256 X 2 = 512. 256x takes average 600MB RAM, so 512x would take 1200MB or 1.2GB of RAM. And 2048x would take around 4800MB or 4.8GB of RAM. 0_0. I also can't wait for Skyrim which comes out at the same day when Minecraft becomes full version.
I wish I didn't lag so badly... I managed to get 0~10 FPS with optifog+optimine, FM Debug, and java priority set to high. :S Standing still doing nothing raises my FPS to 20, but that's kinda useless o_O
Wow, 512x eats up the RAM like a starving fat guy. I have to make a batch file to allocate more RAM to minecraft.
The batch file: java -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
It takes from 1400MB to over 2000MB! 0_0 Here is some screenshots. The fps drop of using 512x is small, only around 30.
I have been doing some calculations. 256x takes average 600MB RAM. 512x takes average 1600MB RAM. That's around 2.5 times the RAM. So, 1024x would take around 4000MB and 2048x would take 10,000MB! That's a lot of RAM. 2048x would be insane. Is there any games out there that uses 2048x texture?

My game never exceeds 1GB :S
It tends to hover around 420MB, but gets to like 950 if I'm standing in one spot.
Lol, tempting. xD
My friend tried to get me to do a Crysis mod with him a while ago.

What do you mean it's no longer true? 9GB? Why the odd number? I have 8GB which is good enough for me.
Notch moved it passed 11/11/11 because he couldn't get anything booked for MCCon that week...
Cuz I'm the boss.
Bosses are odd...8-)

That's explains it why it still uses more RAM with that batch file. I'm using MCPatcher, not Optifog.
I was thinking it was more-so related to -xincgc :tongue.gif:

I did try using your batch file and the results are still the same.
Ah okay.
Well I say Optifog is the better option to MCPatcher unless you are using GLSL...
I dare not try it with GLSL until I get the hard drives.
Imagine this with bumpmapping O.O
